There are no straps or belts to hold it in place. So yes, unless the bleacher behind you is close enough or you are at the top of the bleachers and there is a wall or fence I will fall back a bit. I've gone to my sons' football games where there were metal bleachers and the row behind me was always close enough that I could lean back or stand up without it flipping over or falling backward. all the way. your weight is what keeps it in place.
