I have more than 20 of them and all make lots of fine bullets fast. When I built my first AR this year I thought it would be fun to try casting plinking bullets for it. I got this six cavity Lee mold because of my past experience with the others. It didn't disappoint. I soon had several hundred shiny new bullets and only culled about a dozen that I screwed up on the pour. I powder coated and sized them and loaded up a bunch of .223 cases with 748 powder and these bullets. I chronographed them at an average of 2495 fps and they shot great. I banged away at my steel targets for an afternoon and when I cleaned up the barrel there was no leading. I basically built this rifle for plinking and these bullets are perfect for that! Controlling them I use this in .22shorts .22LR, .221 fireball and .223 REM but I have been loading and casting for around 45 years I check my speeds as I make changes In some rounds I make this into a Hollowpoint I have a small lathe that I use for this as this cut must be the same every time as each bullet must be the same I have the supplies and a tumbler set up to Teflon coat the hollowpoints as they are very fast rounds keep in mind always stay in safe margins Your lead mix can help a bullet pushed to higher speed. Watch out for misleading data always start out with a speed in the low end and creep up very slowly a very small amount of power can make a big difference at higher speeds. In smaller calibers a very small amount .001 GR can be very big DANGER! HOT Roding your loads is not in any way recommended by me! **Q: Can i load .223 with the bullets from this mold? I'm a newbie i wont lie** A: Not only will you need to run them through a bullet sizer die but you will need to use a bullet lube or powder coat to prevent leading the sizer die (I powder coat) and your barrel. To get some good information on using cast bullets do a YouTube channel search for “Elvis Ammo” or “Fortune Cookie 45LC” 😎👍😎👍 **Q: Does it come with handles?** A: Nope **Q: Has anyone used this mold for an Air Rifle? Like a .22 or .25 caliber?** A: A .22 LR or .223 Win and a .22 AirRifle are not the same actual diameter. Air guns vary in size by manufacturer but generally the projectiles of a .22 AirRifle are .2200 at most. I have some crosman .22 cal guns which I purchased airgun slugs for ( similar to a lead bullet) in .218 cal and they fire well from some but are dangerously tight in one. You need to measure your exact barrel. A pin micrometer is ideal but I’ve used calipers to measure the bore. A better way might be to use Cerrosafe. It is a low melt alloy that you melt and pour in a prepared barrel to measure its chamber then remove and measure. Buying another *by L***5 on December 25, 2023* I've been pretty hard on this mold and after roughly 10k casts It wore out enough to produce wings without obstruction. Thats okay, I know Lee molds dont live forever. I powdercoat 15BHN, never used gas checks. They are my favorite range plinkers at 2275fps with 15.5gr of 1680 or IMR4198. Extremely accurate with my 16in barrel on the AM-15. I wanted just some powder conserving target loads and I've fired about 6k and not a single one has caused a failure to cycle, feed etc. If you want tips on how to powdercoat check out my TT at Leadfarmer11.0 or Jared Hempfield at Leadfarmer45. I've since been able to treat the molds better, I've got 15 and all Lee. Never use the sprue to clear the cavities, I tap the handle bolt with a billy club (pool cue bottom).
