Yeah, these are awesome
👍Pros ✅ All day comfort ✅ Clear and crisp audio ✅ Won't ever fall out ✅ Fast charging ✅ Multipoint Device Pairing 🤏 Minor gripes ➖ Takes some getting used to ➖ Lacking in bass (understandably so since these are bone conductive) ➖ Battery tends to last the entire workday wish I could wear them longer! ➖ Difficult to use while laying down Overall an amazingly convenient and comfortable headset that I'll be wearing for the foreseeable future and can't wait until they release a newer iteration with an updated battery. The low down I was hesitant to pull the trigger on these headphones because of the price. So I ended up taking a chance when it went on sale and boy was I glad I did. This headset is amazing. For reference, I am not an audiophile but I do own several headphones/earbuds: Sennheiser x Massdrop 6XX open backs, Sony WH-1000XM5, Earfun Pro Air 2's. I'm not going to review or speak to any of those, but let's just say I've been wearing these all day and everyday day since I've got them. Though it takes some getting used to with the pressure they put on the side of your head, it's not painful, it just feels weird at first. My general use case: I work remotely, so I join a lot of calls using the mic, and haven't had any issues so far. I listen to Spotify music and do prefer hearing what's going on around me while working. During lunch I might switch the multipoint pairing to my PC and watch YouTube videos. I'll walk my dog and listen to audiobooks or music. What's really cool is when working with loud tools, I can wear my silicone earplugs and still hear the headphones perfectly fine. They're so awesome I had to get my wife a set. She has problems with a earbuds staying in her ears and this turned out to be a perfect solution. I'd highly recommend these headphones for people with similar use cases and preferences!

Change everything you expect from headphones
If you want noise cancellation this is not the product you are looking for. However, if you've always wanted to be able to listen to music in every situation in life, like a soundtrack deep inside your head as you work, attend meetings, go shopping, wait in line for your number to be called, these headphones let you still hear the world while you hear the music or whatever you want to hear. Make no mistake, the listening experience with these (and all bone conduction headphones) is different! Your hearing will compete between the sounds coming in through the air in the holes of your ears and the vibrations through your skull. It is something your brain will need to adjust to, but we're talking a day or two at most before they feel "normal". Also certain situations require some adjustment, like if you ride a bus or train with lots of background noise you will notice that even at max volume it will be hard to hear these headphones, which is why Shokz includes earplugs in the package, which immediately solved the issue with background noise. Again, these headphones are NOT effective for noise cancellation AT ALL! That's not what they are for! Shokz markets these to athletes, mainly runners and cyclists who need to negotiate the world where you share your path with other people and cars. In these situations being able to hear whats around you is important, and if you want that but also want to listen to your music/podcasts with minimum friction, these headphones are a perfect solution. As for the ergonomics, the back-of-the-head rigid wire connecting each bone conduction speaker can take some getting used to. If you wear a jacket with a thick collar or hood that can bump in to the wire which moves the speakers against your head and can be annoying. A similar issue comes up if you want to wear a warm hat that covers your ears. The simple and effective solution is that you can push the wire up so it follows the contour of the back of your head, and tuck the wire in to the hat. This is where the beauty of the bone conduction headphones really shines: unlike in-ear or over-ear headphones, THE POSITION OF THE BONE CONDUCTION HEADPHONES DOESN'T ALTER THE SOUND QUALITY! Unlike earbuds that for me are the worst for this problem, when you reposition the Shokz the sound comes through the same, and you're never needing to find just the right way to fit them in your ears (a huge problem with so many earbud style headphones). The biggest benefit of these just how comfortable these are for long-wear times. I put mine on in the morning and take them off at the end of the day. I actually have to make sure I check if I have them on when I get in the shower because I frequently forget I'm wearing them! I wear them with both a mask and sunglasses, no problem. Unlike both in-ear and over-ear headphones where after some time they start to bother my ears, these never really have given me that issue. Last thing I'll mention is that this particular product is the latest iteration of Shokz' athletic-focussed line, where they adjusted how much the wire protrudes beyond the back of your head and also improved the microphone and battery life (these are a huge improvement over the "Aeroplex" line on all of these dimensions). Worth every penny!

Definitely way better than other bone conducting headphones
I've tried many many bone conducting earphones since I use my headphones all day and in ear or over ear headphones causes a lot of heat/hearing issues in long term. So far I've never seen one that I can easily listen to and not broadcast what I'm listening to outside. All others were somewhat audible from outside. Low volume level, enough to disturb your partner night time or passenger next to you while travelling. This one is as perfect as you can ever get. This really sits on the bone, does not give out audio to outside (you can barely hear it if you remove it from your ear and hold it half an inch from your ear. And even during night time, it is inaudible to my partner. Sound quality is also somehow much better than others I've tried. I'm not gonna lie, I've tried all other options because I did not want to pay this absurd price for this one. But in the long run, with me changing headphones because I was not happy with them and some others just failing/breaking down, I've spent more than the price of this one. I still think it is way too expensive for what it is, but it is without competition I guess that's why the price can be so high and they still can sell this. I've bought it in the end after all, right? So far, I could not be happier. Highly recommend it. So, as for negatives, first you really need to know that any bone conducting headphones will feel funny/tingly when you're listening to high volume music or high bass situations. So if you're listening to low frequency stuff like explosion scenes in a movie or music with high bass then you will feel a bit tingly if your volume is high. Second thing is battery life. 10 hours nowadays is too short of a runtime for headphones. My over the ear headphones can run literally days without being turned off at all, while it is still playing music. I used to not even bother to turn the music or my headphones off, I'd just leave them on my desk and come Monday, they will still be playing the music. Of course this is a tiny device with a tiny battery so 10 hours it is I guess. Just be prepared to charge it daily. Which leads us to: Third, proprietary charging cable. That really is something that always bugs me. Why oh why would companies not use standard cables? I mean I know why, it is a business model to get more money out of you and it is easier to design a product like this if you don't have to worry about the depth of a USB C connector. But still, it is annoying. you have to carry around a special cable when you're travelling just for this one. The rest of my devices, laptops, external mobile screens, writing pad, my phone, my mouse they all are charged with usb c, so I can share the adapter and cable. But now I'll have to carry this cable too. And if I forget... well no music after 10 hours. These are all the negatives so positives outweigh by a large margin. In the end, I highly recommend these if you have any hearing issues caused by heat/moisture of keeping on headphones all day, if you have hearing loss due to eardrum or if you want to ride a bicycle while still being able to hear approaching traffic or if you just plain and simple have money to burn. The length of this review should show how much I liked these. Seriously though, try to switch to bone conducting headphones even if it is a cheaper one if you have the issues that I've mentioned. It makes your life much better and keeps your hearing and ears in better condition.

Deaf in one ear, but can hear with these!
You should know, I have been deaf in one ear since I had a freakishly high fever when I was seven. I don't wear hearing aids because I am still young enough that my good ear does the trick in most situations (except when there is a lot of background noise, like in crowds with lots of people having separate conversations). I do struggle to hear some things, but I am a REALLY good listener due to having to be. I went back to school online a few years ago and have been using high-end Skullcandy headphones about 40 hours a week since. They are great and really comfortable, but having them over my ears so much has made my ears really sensitive and it's sometimes been hard to sleep because my ears have been compressed all day and then I have to lay on them on a pillow (I'm a side sleeper). Last year, I heard about bone conduction headphones and decided I would try them out so I could hear my kids while doing my school work. I ordered a $40 pair. They had great sound, but they squeezed my head so tightly they gave me headaches. However, I discovered that I could hear out of my left ear for the first time since I was little when I had them on. I seriously wept alone in my office for joy the first time I turned them on. It felt no less a miracle than parting the Red Sea. It was awesome. I really tried to love them and keep them because my hearing was so amazing with them on, but they simply hurt too much and I couldn't live with the migraines. I sent them back. I have hinted to my family that I wanted to try another brand for a while now, but since my birthday, Mother's Day, and Christmas have all passed without my Shokz being bought off my wishlist, I decided this was something I deserved to celebrate being in my final 6 months of school. And OHMYGOSH. Not only can I HEAR, they are comfortable and I forget I am wearing them. I have had them on for most of 7 days and not one headache. Not only that, they are the exact color of my eyes--win-win. All of this said, I am not letting my deafness blur my vision to their faults. There is one thing that needs to improve. They are simply too quiet. This is not due to my being deaf... they are simply not loud. I don't know the reasoning; perhaps it's protective prevention due to bone conduction. I have no idea. However, I have to have them turned up to about 80% for most of the videos and zoom calls I am in to be a comfortable hearing level. The same level on my SkullCandys is about 18%. So, if you like to really boom your music or work in a noisy setting, these are not for you. But if you are doing school alone in a mostly quiet house (punctuated by excited dogs every time a car drives into the cul-du-sac) or have a deaf ear, these are INCREDIBLE. I will absolutely recommend them to others, but I will keep my super-comfy-but-ear-squishing SkullCandys handy for when the kids are noisy or I just need to appreciate my philharmonic tastes. These are probably not the greatest pair if you are an audiophile, which I am as a musician and music lover, but they are fantastic for listening to audiobooks and Ted talks or NPR/Talk Radio. I would seriously give them 5 stars if not for the quietness, but these are amazeballs and I hope you love them. Thank you, Shokz, for inventing these lovelies. They have become essentials. Cheers! 4.5 Stars A quality product that tickles.
Really 4.5 Stars but because I was pleasantly surprised I rounded up to 5. I'm a believer in bone conduction technology now. Sound quality: Really good almost across the board. I wasn't expecting much for bass but it was alright. If you up the volume you might not notice the difference unless you are an audiophile. Unfortunately, by upping the volume you get the vibrating tingling sensation that you feel under your skin. Doesn't bother me, but I can see it being a problem who might be prone to vertigo if they have that kind of sensitivity in their inner ear canal. Or maybe you just don't like being tickled from in front of your ear to your upper jawbone. Weird sensations aside, if you drop the volume to where you are not feeling it under your skin, you may lose some of that low end sound. This can be improved by adjusting the resting point to right in front of your ear (if you have the right sized head to angle the headset that way). Fit for Standard: I have a big head so the conduction portion sits right in front of my ear. Good comfortable fit. Wore overnight with no pain around the ear or around where the strap sits. Doesn't even bother me if I side sleep. I also have glasses and have felt minimal to no awkwardness while using the headset. The only time it feels weird is if they slip and the earpiece on one ear rests on top of the glasses and the other side rests underneath the glasses. But nothing a quick adjustment couldn't fix for me. Battery Life: Played string instrumental covers while I slept lasted 8 hours plus. Told me the battery was still medium... whatever that means. But I never really needed to use it more for 8 hours straight. Range: Pretty good. Not the greatest but far from the worst. Connected to both laptop and Samsung Z Fold 4. With phone, no connection loss outdoors with phone in pants pocket. Indoors I can step away at least 50 ft while losing line of sight around a wall. Two walls pushes it but I have managed a somewhat stable connection if I am close to that 2nd door. Microphone: Loud and clear. I use in Teams meetings and phone calls with no issues. Honestly, I will probably still get the Aftershokz version with the extended mic in the hopes that it will reduce background noise. I work in a high traffic area so the general Shokz mic may pickup other people and background noise too easily. Uses: Used in Teams meetings, workouts, and while I sleep. The open ear is amazing because it helps with situational awareness. I work in a lab and covering both ears is just a safety issue. But I can walk around the laboratory during Teams meetings and still be aware of my surroundings. Same with the gym. Pet Peeve: I hate special or proprietary chargers. Ugh. But magnetic attachments get a mild pass. I just need to buy more cables to stash at home and work. Overall: I was going to deduct a half a star for low end loss and the proprietary charger but honestly even that is overkill considering how well this company engineered bone conduction technology and made everything else pretty high end.

Exercise Headphones with great battery life!
I've get so much more exercise, studying, and phone conversations done with these headphones! These are great bone conduction headphones! They have excellent battery life and there's an audible voice (English) that will tell you how much battery power is left in the headphones when they're turned on. I've only run out maybe once. That being said, these headphones don't actually cover your ear, so they work best in environments with low to medium noise. Sometimes that can be plus when you need to pay attention to your surroundings (for example at night). As long you understand where they work well, they're awesome! Use Case 1: Exercise - These are excellent because they're clean, nothing to stick in your ear and can be cleaned with a little bit of hand soap and water. While exercising, these are great for podcasts and motivational music. I use these in the gym and outside. Only issues are when I'm next to a road and there's a loud truck or group of motorcycles riding by. Use Case 2: Studying - These work best in quiet coffee shops or libraries with light conversation in the background. I usually put on some non-vocal electronic. These won't block out the sound of a TV, so I've found I needed different headphones to avoid those distractions. Use Case 3: Phone Calls - Great for phone calls in light to medium noise environments. They work well in a home or quiet office. I usually have these on and go for a walk outside. Tips: I bought the Hermitshell case for this and some of the longer after market charging cables. Background: I bought the standard after using the sizing guide on the manufacturer's website. I've never installed the app for the firmware update, so I'm using it with the original as-shipped software. 10-Month Update: Still worth every penny and Shokz Customer Service is awesome! Keep your serial Number handy for any replacements! After almost a year of *heavy* daily use, the battery power is still great (Slightly, but still around 80% of original functionality which is great!) Also, the power button starting getting sticky and it became difficult to turn on and off. Thankfully Shokz has a two-year warranty. I had to go to Shokz website to submit my proof of purchase (easy to get from Amazon) and the product serial number. I didn't the original documents, so I had to use the macro function on my iPhone to zoom into the charging port to grab the serial number (after having to clean it with alcohol and qtips). So keep your serial number handy if you need to make a claim! The new ones arrived right away and work great!

Sporty, useful, and versatile!
These SHOKZ OpenRun Pro bone conduction headphones are outstanding! I use them primarily for running and workouts, and they’ve exceeded my expectations. The open-ear design lets me stay fully aware of my surroundings (traffic, people, etc.) while still delivering clear, enjoyable audio with improved bass thanks to the dual drivers. They’re incredibly lightweight and comfortable for long sessions—no ear fatigue or slipping even when sweating. Battery life is excellent (I easily get 8+ hours), Bluetooth connectivity is reliable, and the build quality feels premium. Controls are intuitive, and they’re sweat-resistant as advertised. If you want safe, comfortable headphones for outdoor activities without blocking the world, these are perfect. Worth every penny! Would buy again.

Shokz after AfterShokz
I was an early adopter of the bone conductance headsets, tracing all the way to the original Aftershokz headset. While the company is reAirForce Talon SSnamed simply Shokz, the product has vastly improved. For voice-only applications, the sound quality is more than sufficient, both in terms of the microphone and the "speakers." This also applies to listening to audible books and podcasts. For music, however, one may find the bass a little lacking. With a tone generator, I can tell that a pure sine wave at 90 Hz is barely noticeable. This inspired me to use an equalizer to try to reproduce how music sounds like using a Hifiman Ananda driven by a humble Fosi DS1 amp. If I set the equalizer to start to roll off at 90 Hz (0 db) and down to -36 db at 36 Hz, then the audible experience is *about* the same. In reality, the OpenRun Pro does not sound quite as tinny because some lower frequencies can still be felt, but not heard. There is no easy way to configure the equalizer to quite reproduce this effect on a strictly air pressure wave headphone. If someone is expecting the same kind of sound quality as a normal headset in the same price range, there will be disappointment. If I want to really enjoy my music, the OpenRun Pro is definitely not my first choice. In a quiet room, the Hifiman Ananda + Fosi DS1 combo is hard to beat. In a noisy environment (vacuum cleaner, leaf blower, impact wrench, etc.), the Sony WF-1000XM4 with ANC or the Etymotic ER4XR are my choices. So when do I use the OpenRun Pro? When I just need some music "in the background," especially when I am on the move. In a normal office, the OpenRun Pro sounds the best when it is at the medium level. Cranking up the volume seems to lose the balance between the high and low frequencies because the low frequencies are not as easy to reproduce/perceive. Some slow ambient music played through the OpenRun Pro really helps me get through a day of office work. Depending on the volume and genre of the music, I can carry on a conversation with my colleagues without pausing the music. Unlike the ambient mode of the Sony WF-1000XM4, there is no electronic pass through with distortion, conversations are just as natural as without wearing the OpenRun Pro. The OpenRun Pro is comfortable, too. I can wear it all day without feeling any discomfort. I also wear prescription glasses! As much as I enjoy the Ananda, WF-1000XM4 and the ER4XR, none of them is an all-day kind of headset (especially on a hot day). The battery life of the OpenRun Pro is superior, the battery level is still "medium" at the end of a long 12-hour work day (but I don't play music the entire 12 hours, although the headset is on all the time). Another benefit of the OpenRun Pro is that even when I am not listening to music, all the notification tones are played via the headset while I can hear everything in my surrounding. For example, in a meeting, I pause the music (some people speak very softly), but I leave the OpenRun Pro on. This way, I can get a calendar notification, but no one but myself hear it.

Yet another good product from Shokz
Bought it for my father and he loves it. Only complaint is that in loud areas the volume is not as good as a normal headset. However for our use case it is really good.

Love these - ideal for sports/outdoor use.
I do quite a lot of walking and like to listen to podcasts when doing so. Over the last few years I have finally managed to wear out the 3.5mm headphone jack on my phone (I also wore out more than one set of wired headphones). As such, I was forced to take the plunge and go wireless and I'm glad I did. This headset is simply ideal for use as a 'sports' headset, especially outdoors. It's light, cordless and so far has been very rugged. To me it is almost a perfect wireless sports headset. The bone conduction technology is very effective, making for extremely clear spoken word and pretty decent music reproduction. Despite the promotion of the bass capabilities, this is not going to match regular earbuds for deep bass reproduction but in my opinion it is more than 'good enough' especially if outdoors and/or doing sports activity. They would not be my first choice for audiophile listening but for activity use, absolutely no quibbles. The sound doesn't 'feel' all that different from standard headphones ... before I first tried them I thought that they might give a sort of 'disembodied' sound but really, they could just as easily be normal headphones. I had read people complaining about the transducers 'tickling' the temples but I've only managed to reproduce this feeling by turning them up to max volume with loud source material. Even then, it wasn't a particular discomfort. Talking of loudness, they don't seem to go as subjectively loud as most headphones but they sort of don't 'need' to as the sound is just conducted into your eardrums via your skull. I have no complaints, anyway. Possibly when it comes to loud music they might even be 'safer' for the ear than normal phones too but I'm not qualified to give an expert opinion on that. Because your ears aren't obstructed, you can hear everything going on around you (unless masked by the audio you are playing). This is very useful for outdoor use if you are cycling or walking/running near traffic and offers a real safety benefit. Also, because the headset is very light you can keep wearing it and still interact with people, unlike say, earbuds that you might have to remove to talk to someone. It's easy to forget that you are in fact wearing headphones. This ears-unblocked design also has an interesting 'inverse' application where you can use a set of standard, cheap noise blocking earplugs to exclude external noise but still allow you to hear the headphones perfectly. If you are working in a noise-hazard environment where you need to use plugs, this can be useful. Aside from headphone use, it also supports the functions of a telephone headset. It works really well for this, in fact its my preferred bluetooth headset for hands-free use on my phone because of its lightness and open-ears design, allowing you to wear it for long periods. Speech comes though really clearly on the phones and the microphone has worked well even in relatively noise environments too. There's a multifunction button on the left transducer which lets you control audio playback and answer calls etc. Battery life is decent enough - I've never run them down from 100% to empty but have had at least 5 hours listening with the battery level remaining 'medium' (when you power on the phones you get an audible notification of battery level). I think the claimed life is something like 7 hours or so which seems reasonable. One strange thing is that they don't seem to have an auto-timeout when you disconnect or if they do, it's a long time. I guess that could lead to them being inadvertantly depleted of battery if you forget to power them down. The headphones themselves are very robust - there is a strong, slim 'band' (almost like a thick wire) that goes behind the back of your head to clamp the bone conduction units to the area of your temples. For me, this has fitted really well and with the right amount of clamping force. It's not adjustable though so I guess you might experience issues depending on the dimensions of your head. My guess is that they have targeted the most common head size. In any case, the whole setup feels very robust and seems unlikely to break. The bone conduction transducers are pretty much sealed (there do seem to be some grills for bass) so they seem a lot more durable than foam pads or rubber tips as typically found on regular 'phones. There is a degree or water resistance (or sweat I guess) which gives me confidence that they are not going to self destruct if it rains or I get really sweaty. The design makes it really easy to clean the headphones after use - just wipe them down. I absolutely would not want to get them submerged in water, however. The manufacturers do have a dedicated fully waterproof swimming MP3 player based on similar tech which I am probably going to buy too. There is a fair degree of sound leakage compared to earbuds but not likely to be a problem for sports or when outdoors. Not ideal if you are sitting next to someone or maybe in a small office though. Overall, I think these are absolutely superb for the purpose of sports/activity, indoors or outdoors. Also great if you want something that you can wear for long periods of time and that doesn't inhibit your ability to hear the world around you. As I said, they are so good that I will most likely take the plunge and get their swimming mp3 headset for use in the pool. I am only sorry I didn't take the leap and adopt this technology sooner. Even though they are quite pricey I think they are well worth it and they should last many years.

Still Going Strong After 4-5 Years – My Favorite Bone-Conduction Headphones
I've been using Shokz bone-conduction headphones since they were still branded as AfterShokz Aeropex, and after roughly 4-5 years of ownership, they've proven to be one of the most durable pieces of tech I've purchased. Originally, I bought three pairs. One required warranty replacement during the first year, and another finally stopped working about a month ago. The remaining two are still functioning well today. My desk-use pair looks almost new, while my daily-use pair only shows minor cosmetic wear where the outer coating has started to peel slightly after years of use. How I Actually Use Them Unlike many reviewers, I don't use these primarily for sports. My main uses are: Daily commuting on public transit Lunch breaks and general everyday listening PC gaming sessions that often last 6+ hours and sometimes 12 hours or more on weekends Occasional music and phone calls For commuting, they do an excellent job maintaining clear audio even with city and bus noise around me. For gaming, they've honestly been fantastic. One of the biggest advantages is comfort. I don't experience the ear fatigue, pressure, or heat buildup that I get from traditional over-ear headsets. Despite being bone-conduction headphones, positional audio and directional cues such as footsteps are still easy to distinguish, and I've had no issues using them in competitive games. Battery Life Battery life has remained surprisingly consistent over the years. I haven't noticed any significant degradation, and I never find myself worrying about whether they'll last through the day. Canadian Weather I've worn them through Canadian winters, and interestingly, wearing a toque can actually improve the listening experience by holding the transducers closer to the head, making the sound feel fuller. I've also used them in light rain and light snow without issues, although I generally try not to expose electronics to bad weather longer than necessary. Warranty Experience I had to use the warranty once due to static and audio issues developing on one side of the headset. From what I remember, the process was straightforward. I explained the issue, and Shokz replaced the unit without charging shipping costs. It's been long enough that I don't remember whether they required the original headset to be returned. Comparison to Newer Models I've recently tested both the Suunto Wing and the OpenRun Pro 2. The Suunto Wing delivers impressive sound quality and is a strong competitor, especially considering its price. However, it doesn't reach the same volume levels that I've come to expect from the Aeropex/OpenRun generation. The OpenRun Pro 2 was more surprising. While the newer air-conduction technology may technically improve audio quality, I personally preferred the original listening experience. The newer design seemed to leak more sound, and the audio felt slightly more hollow to me. Even in Classic Mode, something about the tuning felt different from the Aeropex generation. Pros Exceptional long-term durability Extremely comfortable for extended wear No ear pressure or heat buildup during long sessions Reliable battery life even after years of use Great for commuting and maintaining awareness of surroundings Positive warranty experience Cons Outer coating can eventually show wear after years of heavy use Audiophiles may prefer traditional headphones for pure sound quality Newer Shokz models may not appeal to everyone who likes the original Aeropex sound profile Final Thoughts The biggest compliment I can give these headphones is that after 4-5 years of ownership and after trying newer alternatives, I still prefer them. They're comfortable, durable, reliable, and fit naturally into my daily routine. When my remaining pairs eventually give out, I'll likely buy another set.
