From the extraordinary pen of Jane Feather, nationally bestselling author of Valentine , comes a bewitching tale of a beautiful bandit who's waging a dangerous game of vengeanceโand betting everything on love . . . She was a bandit known as La Violette, and she had fallen into the hands of the French. Now it was Julian St. Simon's assignment to rescue herโthen force her to reveal the strategic military secrets only she knew. But Tamsyn was no timid flower. Beneath her deceptively fragile beauty was a spirited young woman who would give Julian what he wantedโfor a price. Soon the handsome officer is trapped into taking Tamsyn back with him to England and turning her into a proper lady. It's a mission more dangerous than he knows . . . as Tamsyn, exchanging rifle and bandolier for the sensuous glide of silk, plots a vengeance that could threaten both of their lives and his well-guided heart. โAn author to treasure.โโ Romantic Times Review: VIOLETTE by Jane Feather - Another โblockbusterโ historical/romance by the incomparable Ms. Jane Feather.. She delivers like no other author in my opinion. This story is uniquely Feather! H/h are most unusual passionate and madly in love! The story takes place in various locales but these two lovers make love under any circumstances! I loved them! VIOLETTE is a mercenary and she bewitches a Colonel with her unusual looks personality and her ingenuity! It is a fast paced plot and keeps your interest as always. I recommend all her books-there is never a bad one! Review: An Unorthodox Heroine and Her Military Hero - I am a fan of novels by Jane Feather, and this book follows her formula for a successful romance novel--a feisty, petite heroine, a commanding English officer, and a plot that revolves around military campaigns. Our heroine is the offspring of a rebellious English society-miss and a notorious brigand who controls what happens in the mountains of Spain. Her looks are striking as she has short hair the color of silvery summer wheat and flirtatious eyes the color of amethysts. Her real name is Tamsyn, but she is called Violet, and is a miniature of her deceased mother, Cecilia Penhallen. Her parents were known for their devotion to each other, and her father, El Baron, also deceased, has entrusted her safety to a huge giant Scot named Gabriel. His common law wife, Josefa, serves as Violet's chaperone and ladies maid. Our hero is Colonel Lord Julian St. Simon, born into a life of wealth and privilege. He also has striking good looks, with red-gold hair and eyebrows that frame startling blue eyes. St. Simon is tall, deep-chested, and wide shouldered. Our couple meets when St. Simon rescues Violet who has been taken prisoner by the Frenchman, Major Cornichet. Many pages are devoted to military battles and skirmishes as our couple falls in love. My main criticism of this book is its length. While the author is an expert in military maneuvers, her plots and subplots seemed to drag out the novel unnecessarily. One might even wonder if she was paid by the word. As the plot nears the finish line, many truths are revealed, the villains are punished, and our couple finds true happiness. And what romantic doesn't love a happy ending?

Pleasing Stand Alone
This is a pleasant, if formulaic, stand alone historical romance by the author of the present Blackwater Brides trilogy. An older work, it vividly paints a rather complicated story of revenge and intrigue, spanning time in Spain, France, and England, during the Napoleonic war. The heroine becomes attached to an English high-born officer in Wellington's corps, and he ends up taking her back home to Cornwall. It happens that Cornwall is part of her heritage, as well. She learns to be an English lady, and helps to foil a family villain. The story ends happily, as most romances of this kind do, but not before some swashing and buckling by our hero and unwilling lover of Violet.

Not her best
I really enjoyed the historical aspects of this story but the relationship between the main characters seemed contrived and emotions conveniently switched quickly to move the story along.

Violet by Jane Feathers
What a wonderful story! Lots of adventure with a beautiful and enterprising heroine and a handsome, British soldier hero. A clever love story set in the Napoleonic wartime. Feathers is a favorite author who always comes through with a page turner.
