Silverback NXT 54" Wall Mounted Basketball Hoop, Indoor / Outdoor Basketball Hoop with QuickPlay Design

Ok, so the finished product is perfect. And assembly of the hoop itself is pretty easy. The only issue is no hardware to actually mount the hoop to any structure is included and the instructions do not give you any guidance or recommendations on what you need either. I understand this is probably because people might mount this in a variety of different ways to varying structures. But a little guidance or recommendations would have been helpful. I ended up using 5/16-in x 8-in Carriage Bolts. 5/16 is the largest size that will fit through the mounting bracket. I was able to get 99% of the installation done by myself, but I had scaffolding. Still needed another person to hold as I attached the backboard to the mounting bars. Good value and getting great use out of it.

I had a few requirements (goals) in mind when researching a goal for our home. First, I did not want to spend more than $500. Second, my son plays on travel team and I wanted it to be very close to gymnasium play-ability. This goal has slightly more flex than a tempered glass gym backboard but only slightly. Huge improvement from previous goal is helping him improve. The poly-carbonate backboard is 4mm (1/5”) thick but the brace design makes it play much stiffer. Would have to spend much more to get tempered glass. Third, it had to be approved by the homeowners association. I could get the 54” approved, and it really is a good size. I purchased this B8403W wall mount system and mounted it to 6x6 metal pole. Most of the pole mount systems (in my price bracket) were either proprietary or appeared to have light weight hardware. You can spend a lot of money to get the heavy steel and tempered glass but when I read the reviews and did the research, this one seemed to fill my need. The entire system ties to a T bracket, which with a little DIY design, mounted to the pole, and the result is fantastic. I really like the backboard design and the sturdy hardware. Escalade sports site has the instruction manual online and it is worth taking time to review. The manual shows the T bracket dimensions which allowed me to measure and design the two extra brackets (before purchasing) that allowed this to be a good option for pole mount. Assembly was easy. Instructions are very good. The hardware is well organized (see open box pic) and high quality. Also, the overall project allowed me to teach the youngster a little about design, assembly, and metal work. The hardest part is raising it up to mount. I used a rope and pulley, multiple ladders, and three people. You need to plan the raising/mounting task. Be safe and do not get in a hurry. Very pleased with the final product.

Perfect home backboard for aspiring hoopsters. Attractive and easy to adjust height. Somewhat challenging to mount, best handled by a professional (we used our usual contractor). No issues at all through a season of sun, wind, rain, and snow.

I was apprehensive about finding an affordable good quality hoop and backboard that would attach to my carport and offer both sturdiness and height adjustability. Yesterday I finished the installation and it is absolutely perfect. I seldom write reviews but feel compelled to share my satisfaction when a product is actually better than anticipated. Since the unit is so new I can't vouch for its longevity but I am a 70 year old handyman and I have seen a lot of poor equipment being falsely advertised as "quality." So what makes it so good? The steel is thick and extra stable. The nuts and bolts go together easily and stay together with the locknuts threading beautifully. The rim is incredibly sturdy. And the fit and finish is superb at this price level. I guess you can tell that I am a very satisfied customer who is often quite critical (just ask the Mrs.:-)) So far I believe this hoop will be a winner with my 5 kids and 5 grandkids. It adjusts smoothly to different heights. If there is one thing I predict could be a problem it will likely be the shiny plexi surface which will probably look pretty bad by the end of the summer due to scuffing. So not perfect but still a definite 5 star. Did I say it was also beautiful? and did I say the installation manual was about the best I have ever seen with any product? Kudos to the company who put the time, effort and expense into this feature which makes installation a doable thing for many.

I like this product. It was easy to install with one exception I note below. The directions were clear and easy to follow and laid out in a way that even my ADD, can't follow plainly obvious instructions somehow could follow just fine. :) Packaging: Excellent. I do recommend opening it up where you want to work. Once you get those straps off, you aren't moving it again without pulling everything out. Bear in mind you may find you need to do structural work after taking the mounting plate and visualizing where it is going to go and where the holes will go. So don't put it in your drive way or in a parking spot because it might be there for a while until you get the structural work done. Installation: I had to do a fair amount of structural work to mount it on my garage where I wanted it but that is in no way a slight on this product. Once I got the structural work done it installed fairly easily adhering to the instructions and feels very sturdy. It isn't going to fall down. I had real problems putting the backboard up. I was able to do this by myself very easily even though the instructions say it requires two people, but the studs on the lower arm were not aligned correctly to the holes in the backboard so I had to ream the holes in the backboard in order to get it on. I do not expect to have to modify a product in order to use it out of the box and per the instructions. This is a legitimate quality control and process problem with this product. Use After Installation: Once installed the backboard does wobble a little bit but It's solid enough. The crank shaft to raise and lower the hoop is extremely short. I mounted the hoop at the exact height suggested in the instructions and the hoop measures to be at regulation height once raised the entire way. I'm a 6ft tall guy and I have to have my arms high above my head in order to raise and lower this hoop. Given this is almost always for children and not professional basket ball players that are freakishly tall, the crank is unacceptably short. Summary All in all I like this product. My dislikes are (to summarize from above) 1. Studs on lower arm don't align with holes in backboard require reaming the backboard 2. Crank is very short. Only taller people can use it.

Great high quality hoop. Easy to read/understand instructions. I had it unpackaged and on the wall ready to play in about an hour and a half by myself. I’d say the only difficult part of self installing was mounting the backboard. Other than that it went up without a hitch. My only complaint was with Amazon is it took 2.5 months to start it getting shipped. But only 4 days only it shipped.

First off the hoop is awesome. Super solid. Well made. Takes bank shots without moving an inch. But there are two things I wish I had known before I began the install. (1) There is no hardware included to actually mount the bracket to your structure. So you can unpack everything, drill pilot holes, but then you'll have to go to the hardware store and pick up the bolts/lags you need for the job. 5/16" bolts were the largest that'll fit through the holes. (2) Since you're going to the hardware store anyway, take out one of each bolt from the supplied hardware and make sure you've got sockets that match each size. Attaching the rim, in particular, is a nightmare if you don't have a socket wrench. It's a tight space with very little movement. Once you have the mounting bracket installed, it only takes about an hour to build/install the rest of the hoop. Last thing, it says it's a two-person job in bold print and that's probably the smart/safe way to do it, but it can be done by one person if they're capable enough.

Does the job just fine! The instructions are as noob friendly as possible. The diagonal brace behind the board does a good job of insuring the ball bounces firmly off the board. The rim is great quality. The screws are zinc plated and quality steel. Easy to lower and raise for the kiddos. Things to note: 1. The backboard has a side wall and given it's plexiglass and will eventually become brittle and break it will be impossible to find a replacement board unless you buy the exact one from them. 2. The distance of the mounting holes that secure it to the wall are not 16 on center so you'll have to add studs in the wall to secure it properly. 3. Make sure you face the head of the screws that hold the mounting plate that attaches to the back of the board towards the center of the board (see picture). If you face the 4 screws the wrong way they will interfere with the pivot of the backboard.
