J.J. Pizzuto's Fabric Science Swatch Kit, 12th Edition reinforces the study of textiles for students in courses such as Fashion Design, Fashion Business, Merchandising, Fashion Retailing, Interior Design, Textile Surface Design, Textile and Apparel Product Development, and Textile Production Management. The kit contains 114 (2"x 3") fabric samples, a fabric key, 32 special assignments, heavy-weight sample sheets to mount and analyze fabrics, and a pick glass--all contained in a three-ring binder. The swatches are organized in the order in which they are covered in the text: fibers, yarns, weaves, knits, dyeing, printing, and finishes. Swatches represent the types of fabrics currently available to fashion and interior designers in the field, making this resource an excellent addition to any professional library. Key Features Include -The text contains instructions and video tutorials that take students through the process of assembling their swatch kit and using a pick glass. -A Fabric Key identifies the swatches by number and fabric name, description, and fiber content. -Assignments are designed to reinforce the text and classroom lectures and have been developed by FIT instructors to broaden studentsโ understanding of key concepts in textiles through hands-on labs and problem solving activities. -Students will successfully develop keen observation, analysis, and report writing skills. - J.J. Pizzutoโs Fabric Science Swatch Kit is an ideal companion to J.J. Pizzutoโs Fabric Science , 12th Edition (ISBN 9781501367878, available as a separate purchase) or can also be used alone or in conjunction with any textiles textbook. Fabric Science Swatch Kit STUDIO Resources Include -Watch videos with step-by-step demonstrations on how to compile the swatch kit Instructor's Resources -Instructor's Swatch Set including 7" x 12" samples of each fabric (ISBN 9781501368059) -Instructorโs Guide provides specific information about each of the swatches in the Swatch Kit, special assignments, questions (with answers), and instructional comments -PowerPointยฎ presentations include full-color images from the book and provide a framework for lecture and discussion Review: Good collection of swatches but needed more info on them. - This swatch kit grew on me. Initially I was very disappointed that there we no descriptions for the swatches. But I just finished mounting all the swatches (108 in total) and the range of swatches is really amazing. Not sure if one could be able to build these kind of swatches by themselves. And the swatches are divided into different categories: fibers (15), yarns (12), woven fabrics (21), knitted fabrics (20), non-wovens (6), dyed fabrics (5), printed fabrics (8), textile finishes (10), and special facbrics (16). All are fabric swatches (no fibers or yarns). The categorization is helpful as you donโt need to search of what you are looking for. There is a four page printout that gives (a)swatch number (b) fabric name (c) swatch type, and (d) fiber content. It is minimal information, hence if you are looking for detailed information, you will not find it here. Using the above key words you have to do your homework. I wish the authors gave more info as well because it could be used as a textbook in itself. There are many assignment templates at the end but that is for the hardcore textile science students, it looks like. Iโm not sure if Iโll be doing them. I also liked โFabric for Fashion: the swatch bookโ as it was neatly organized with some description of each swatch. But the swatches in that book are not as extensive as this one. That book deals with main fabrics and have different set of swatches, which is good in its own way. I also ordered โSWATCH REFERENCE GUIDE FOR INTERIOR DESIGN FABRICSโ, which has lengthy description and nicely laidout book but when the book was delivered, the swatches were missing! So I returned it but found it expensive (12k). So canโt comment on it much other than wishing the swatches were there. I just wish this book had introductions to each category and more description for each swatch, which would have turned this into a textbook than a workbook. Overall, Iโm impressed with the collection of the swatches. I wouldnโt have collected them myself and for the price I paid (6k INR) this didnโt seem too much, although students in my class did feel it was expensive. But they might not be too focused on fabric science as such. Review: Fabrics - great for learning about fabrics

Ugh
This kit came with 2 packages of the A fabrics instead of an A and B package.

Good quality
Bought it for school and it came fast and with everything, swatches were cut a bit messy and the faux fur swatch was extremely messy and kept shedding everywhere.

Cut Errors
Many swatches have been cut off where the design is not on it. So you can't see the design which defeats the purpose of specific swatches. I paid so much for this book and is for future references so having missing swatches is ridiculous. I included a photo of one of these with my swatch versus my classmates.
