Wonderful construction, solidly built. Great weight. Sharp right out of the box. Rough Ryder knives are a great value.

Came rusty. Requires regular maintenance.
Arrived with some spots of rust on the blade. While the blade appeared to be oiled when it arrived, there were still some rather large spots of surface rust on the spine of the blade. I wasn't keen on having to wait for replacement and deal with a return, so I decided to try and clean this up. I was able to wipe the majority of the rust off with a polishing cloth, however it left some real evident blemishes on the spine. I was able to polish these off further with some 0000 steel wool and Flitz polishing paste, finishing again with a yellow Sunshine cloth. I then put some oil in the pivot areas and waxed the blade to prevent any further corrosion. Thankfully, it's now much more difficult to tell there was any rust/blemish on the blade. This does take a little know how, materials, and elbow grease though, which is something the average person may not want to deal with, especially for a rather inexpensive knife. I already had the materials available to me and it was fairly easy work. If I didn't have the material, or the rust was more extensive/deeper, this would have been an immediate return. I don't know how long this particular knife was sitting stored, but they should not be arriving in this condition. As for the functionality of the knife itself, the knife appears to be in perfectly fine working condition. No blade play when the blade is fully extended. Lock up feels solid. Blade is pretty sharp out of the box. It otherwise looks and functions perfectly fine after I was able to deal with the rust. This is not a bad blade at all, but it does require some care as it is a carbon steel blade and it is NOT stainless steel. It WILL require regular cleaning, oiling, and/or waxing in order to keep the blade in good condition. If you're looking for something you can just keep in your pocket, in a drawer, or on a shelf and completely forget about it until it's needed every once in a while, this probably isn't the knife you want. If you're going to subject the knife to a lot of moisture, sweat, or chemicals, this is probably not the knife you'll want. If you're willing to put up with maintaining the knife, have the materials to do so available, and don't mind doing so on a regular basis, then this knife will serve you quite well. If you want something that you can kind of forget it's there or don't like dealing with maintaining a knife, stick to something stainless steel.

Solid buy
Solid, quality knife with carbon steel blades which are getting hard to find. Proper edge geometry, came sharp but a couple of light strokes on my diamond sharpener & now scary sharp. Solid buy

Aesthetically pleasing... and sharp now
Dense steel. Won't lose an edge easily. Had to use a coarse stone to get the razor edge needed. Beautiful knife. Would recommend.

Great
The high quality of this product is obvious, while if you can get it at or near the present price of 21.45 you've gotten a bargain. Everything including the lock blade release is smooth as silk.

I will never purchase another RR again.
Blade is warped and twisted.

Knives sent to me with rust spots.
Received 2 of these. Rust on both. Sending back. High Carbon content should not mean rust on brand new products.
