I ordered an off-brand charger for my Lenovo, primarily because of it's lighter weight. However, while the design would work very well for home use, the cable, and in particular the connection between the charger and the cable, is not designed for travel, where I would coil the cable when traveling. After several months of intense traveling, the cable broke. This device, while a little heavier, is rock-solid. Also, the charging cable and the power cable are both long, so I have a great deal of flexibility for home and for travel.

Wanted the three-prong plug so I ordered this one vs. from Lenovo directly (which ships a two-prong version). Is the three "needed"? Not really but I am traveling overseas often enough that I prefer having the grounding option which IS the normal Lenovo version for laptops sold in Europe. Everything about this seems to be Lenovo standard but shipping is about 100% faster (both are free shipping and Lenovo has very easy and free returns). I would recommend this for those wanting to go to a three-prong plug. Warning - the electrical converter (box) of the three-prong and the two-prong models ARE NOT interchangeable with the three-prong and two-prong cords! It is obvious for some but just wanted to warn those not electrically inclined and expecting to be able to use the same "box" with the two cords won't be able to do so!! I use the two-prong at home and have the three-prong in the travel bag for hotels and trips where the electricity might not be as "clean" as at home and thus might need the "ground" on it.
