Coolest gadget. Good value. Works well!
I'm using this to test the sugar content of apple juice that I've fermented with s. Boulardii per dr. William Davis' formula and recommendation. It works very well, very well priced, seems solid. No issues. Would recommend. P.s. when you try and see the value indicated the line is blurry so you won't get a truly precise reading. In my case I like to ferment to a 5 or 4 and I can see its in that range but couldn't tell you precisely. But I don't need that much precision. You might, so keep that in mind!

instructions could be a little more clear...I figured it out, but....
Accuracy is acceptable and it is relatively convenient. I had some hesitation in the actual testing of a sample but was able to figure things out...I hope.

Nicely packaged and Very easy to use
We ordered this to measure brix on sugar cane juice and syrup. Seems to work very well. Tested it on a few things where we knew the sugar content and it appears to be accurate.

Concentrate on the concentrates
The quality and accuracy of this produce is worth the money. It was easy to use and you can read the concentrations displayed well. Maple syrup season was a success!

Professional quality
Easy to read scale. Legible in relatively low light (cocktail bar). Consitent results vs known values even at top of scale (sysco honey, acid/saline titrate solutions, etc). Easy to clean. Fine focus a big plus if you wear glasses. Not sure how it would work with a very strong prescription, but still works with glasses on in brighter light.

Easy way to see how bad our vegetables became...
I use it only to measure my own garden and bought vegetable/fruit brix. I have to say, that I am dissapointed in the food quality, even from farmers market. Most of the produce I tested came out poor-average. Of course, leaves are better indicator of quality as some fruits are bred for high sugar content, and minerals/proteins might not be well represented in brix in that case. Best use though to measure brix of your grown food plants. Take the most recent mature leaves that have had full sunlight for at least 2 hours. Ideally measurements should be taken at the same time of day as you compare throughout the growing season. Don't forget to callibrate meter with distilled water every 10-20 readings. So far highest I could reach was 10. Once plants reach 12-14 according to Dr. Tom Dykstra, juice sucking insects and diseases stop bothering them. Incets digestive system doesn't allow them to eat high mineral plants. They are recyclers meant to clean up unfit to survive plants. Sadly mosquitos biting also means unhealthy blood in some way.

Unexpectedly good for price - needed some modification
Had low hopes for this guy, but it was better than I expected. The brix scale was surprisingly accurate, however because the scale is so large (number of digits) the viewing window has really, really small numbers and marks. You can read it, but you gotta squint. It's pretty blurry at the very top, and the very bottom due to laughably poor optic quality but that's rarely where my measurements are so that didn't really matter to me. The middle 75% of the scale was plenty crisp. Here's my big gripe tho. The plastic hinge is too fat so when you close the cover lens it doesn't sit perfectly flat on the prism like it should so the sample doesn't all the way cover the lens when the cover is closed. The top 25%-35% is an air bubble which produces an unusable reading. However, if your $13 or whatever budget left you any room for creativity you can use a thumb-tack and press out the pins that hold the lens cover on and use an emery board (nail file) to moderately sand a millimeter or two off the underside of the black plastic hinge... then, it actually works great!

Smaller than regular size, but works really well. It comes with foam padded hard shell box. Itās easy and clear to read. The device doesnāt feel like it is cheaply made either. I use it for when I make candy fruits.

Easy to use but the accuracy is 8/10 i was thinking to replace my old refractometer that is 0-32% the old style refractometer that are 9.8/10 accurate for this 0-90% but always have a gap of 2 or 3 brix, even after been calibrated. I recommend it for educational purposes only.
