We used this book for Japanese 1, it's much better than the previous edition. It integrates more kanji into the curriculum allowing for students to be prepared for the AP exam earlier

If I could give this ZERO stars I would. This is, by far, the WORST Japanese Language book I have come across. I’ve studied with several other books and while no book is perfect, this one AIJ seems to have no real structure to it. There are so many things thrown into it here, there, and everywhere. I am no Japanese expert or linguist, but if you want to pull your hair out by trying to make sense of where this text book is going, then by all means, go ahead and buy this book. If you want something better, check out “Japanese from Zero” or “Genki.”
