American mystery author Peter Neal (Anthony Franciosa) comes to Italy to promote his newest novel, TENEBRAE. Unfortunately, a razor-wielding serial killer is on the loose, taunting Neal and murdering those around him in gruesome fashion just like the character in his novel. As the mystery surrounding the killings spirals out of control, Neal investigates the crimes on his own, leading to a mind-bending, genre-twisting conclusion that will leave you breathless!Featuring an amazing synth-music score from Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli and Massimo Morante (formerly of Italian progressive-rock band, Goblin), this all-new TENEBRAE release was created from the original uncut camera negative. Also stars John Saxon (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET), Daria Nicolodi (Dario Argento’s PHENOMENA) and John Steiner (CALIGULA).Special Features: All-new Synapse Films supervised color correction and restoration of a 1080p scan from the original camera negative, presented in the original aspect ratio of 1.85:1 Dual English and Italian language options with newly-translated English subtitle tracks for both Audio commentary track featuring film critic and Argento scholar, Maitland McDonagh Rare high-definition 1080p English sequence insert shots, playable within the film via Seamless BranchingFeature-length documentary, YELLOW FEVER: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE GIALLO by Rising Productions, chronicling the Giallo film genre from its beginnings as early 20th century crime fiction, to its later influences on the modern slasher film genreOriginal UNSANE (U.S. version of TENEBRAE) end credits sequenceAlternate opening credits sequence Theatrical trailers Review: Must own Blu Ray release... - Dario Argento 's Tenebrae is a perfectly executed giallo. Its's packed full of style, wonderful camera movement, and an amazing score. A great whodunnit, that I remember being clueless as to who was committing the murders the first time I saw it. Tenebrae is the last in a run of four absolute classic Argento films. Starting with Deep Red (1975) , then Suspiria (1977), then Inferno (1980), and ending with Tenebrae (1982). A must see film if interested at all in giallos or Italian horror from the 80s. Synapse did an unbelievable job with this Blu Ray. The picture and audio quality are spot on perfect. I also enjoyed the full length documentary extra, Yellow Fever: The Rise and Fall of the Giallo. Review: If you enjoy Dario Agento movies, then u want this. - Hearing about Dario Agento movies. I had to pick this up. I thi k the set was worth the price. The movie is enjoyable. I chose this art because it looked amazing.

Another entertaining giallo by the master himself
Another entertaining giallo by the master himself. Decidedly less style-obsessed and visually inventive as some of his best work, but makes up for it with a suitably tangled murder mystery and some great kill sequences. The movie gets off to a somewhat clumsy start (and again there is that stilted acting and awkward dialogue that is almost part of the appeal of these movies once you're endeared to them), but steadily improves as it progresses. The climax really elevates the rest of the film and ends things on a high note. I also enjoyed the somewhat meta quality of the film, as it's about a giallo writer who provides some well-placed wink-and-a-nod dialogue that comments on the movie itself. Not a masterpiece, but a fun film with an unpredictable plot and a number of memorable sequences that make up for its shortcomings. Decent 4/5

The best version so far of this classic giallo.
Up until recently, copies of Tenebrae had been pretty expensive to get ahold of, at least in North America, with copies of it often exceeding sixty dollars or more for the out of print Anchor Bay release. But finally, Synapse films saw fit to give this Argento classic the royal treatment it deserves. The film is often regarded as one of Dario Argento's best giallos, and it's reputation is well earned. The film is stylish, features fantastic cinematography, good looking locations, suitably graphic murder sequences that are filmed with his usual eye for beauty, and some solid nudity to back things up with. But besides the movie, my favorite part of Synapse's Blu-ray release of the film is the inclusion of a 90 minute documentary titled "Yellow Fever: The rise and fall of the Italian giallo."

Amazing movie. Amazing transfer.
This is an amazing movie. Anything Argento does makes me happy, but this movie has a certain feel to it. It's not supernatural like some of his other films and it really translates well to more audiences because of this. John Saxon is also amazing to see!! The blu ray of this movie is just gorgeous. The colors pop and the audio is really on point. The dog chasing scene scared my dog so that can only be good!

Perfect in 4K!
Wonderful release of this old film. Nice cover. Maybe the only minus is that the film has no Atmos

Great movie! Poor shipping and handling. Recommended anyway…
