This amprobe multimeter is fantastic!!! Especially given the inrush current option. Working in the residential HVAC field being able to test, and confirm the locked rotor amps as part of assessing the health of the compressor is huge. This function will also help you to determine whether the circuit breaker for the unit is bad by giving you a reading that you can compare to the rating of the breaker in order to determine if the annotate reading is higher/lower the rating of the circuit breaker. The ampere, microfarad, and ohm reading functions are accurate, and the screen it’s easy to read. The backlight option choice to illuminate the screen in low light environments makes life so much easier!!! Since it comes with batteries, and leads that attach into the meter, you’re ready to go right out of box! Essential additional to anyone’s toolbox that relies on the ability to take accurate, precise measurements regarding high/low voltage circuits for maintenance, or demand calls.

I bought this to have a second meter by my desk for quick measurements. It works well, has acceptable accuracy, and is a good value.

As an electrical student in the industrial electrician track, this is the meter I should have initially bought when I was building up my first toolbox. It’s a 10/10 meter and it’s great in my Motor Controls class. It does what I need it to do and if I don’t have to upgrade when I get in the field that makes it even better.

I ordered this item for the first time and returned it for the wrong reason. I thought it didn't work, but it did. Since this was my very first clamp multimeter, I forgot to turn the selector switch to the proper setting. I only realized the oversight after I ordered and received a new clamp multimeter. I hope the 5-star rating makes up for the error.

I have two other clamp on ammeters. I needed a third DC Amps meter to allow measuring different wires at the same time. One of my other meters was designed with a reverse LCD display that has white numbers on a black background. That device was completely useless outdoors, where sunlight makes the readings on the display invisible. I decided to buy this MESTEK meter to replace the useless device and I was surprised at how much better MESTEK meter is. My calibration results against an Analog Devices DC Voltage Reference: 0.000V 0.000V 2.500V 2.500V 5.000V 5.010V 7.500V 7.49V 10.000V 9.99V Excellent DC accuracy! I used an inexpensive DVM with at 20 Amp internal current shunt to check the DC current clamp accuracy. 0.0 A 0.1 A 2.0 A 2.0 A 4.0 A 3.9 A 5.0 A 5.0 A Excellent DC current for an inductive clamp meter at this reasonable price point. Of course, these results are only possible if you learn to use the ZERO function before each reading. Clamp sensors are all subject to drift and offset errors. I have never seen a DC clamp Ammeter respond with errors of just 0.1 Amps in this test. This kind of performance would normally be associated with very expensive calibrated equipment from a big name manufacturer. User mode setting is easy, operation is intuitive, display is vastly superior to the other products with reverse LCD numbers. I must admit I am impressed at the good value this meter delivers.

Bought July 2025. Used once on on 120 V. Dec 25, tried to use on a 12V circuit on my RV and it won’t register any 12V DC current. Never thought about testing when I got it, thought it worked. But only on AC current. Tried to find a way to contact mfg, but it’s past its time for support. I should have listened to the lower review scores. Do not buy!
