Double-Bell Mechanical Alarm Clock, Ruby Red MM 111 602 33

(Original Review. Scroll to bottom for update) Product directions: "Be sure to turn these (keys) only in the direction indicated by the arrow". Really? Take a look at my photos. One of these is my new purchase and the other is a $35 Chinese knockoff that recently broke after 5 months. Guess which one is the new purchase? The red one! Do you see any arrows on the back of this clock? No? Well, if I squint I can barely make out what might be imprints in the metal. The directions warn you not to turn the keys the wrong way. Good thing I know to wind it counter-clockwise from experience using old-school wind-up analog alarm clocks for years! Thus, the 3 initial star rating on "Easy to Use" and overall rating. I can't give it a better overall rating right out of the box. I'll need to use it a while. Just felt compelled to note the issue with the back of the clock. I hope this is the only issue with it for what I paid for it compared to the garbage Chinese knock-offs. It also replaces my back-up, a 30+ yr old American made Baby Ben alarm clock. The Baby Ben is showing its age as the alarm sometimes doesn't sound, which is why it remains my back-up. I've lost track of the number of Chinese-made junk clocks I've tried to replace it with over the past 10 years. I sure hope this Serbian made-one lasts at least 5 times as long as the Chinese ones considering the price. We'll see. This clock ticks loudly as it should. The alarm is loud as one would expect. If you don't like loud ticking, don't buy a manual wind clock. Update (8/11/23): The alarm key bit the dust this morning. It did last at least 5 times as long as the Chinese knockoffs, so I'll be ordering another one of these, especially considering some of the knockoffs are now nearly half the cost of this one.

This clock runs about 30 minutes slow each day. Not a reliable alarm clock.

This clock is pleasing to the eye, nice construction and paint finish, but it loses time after 3-4 hours. Significant time, after 5 house running it was 20+ minutes off. Don’t buy

just a little pricey

This alarm clock is exactly what i was looking for: ticking sound, loud alarm, and wind up! And since it is a mechanical clock, I'm not expecting it to be as accurate as a quartz clock.

Well made, keeps time very well and is easy to adjust from faster to slower. I would say the ticking is around medium for loudness.

Its exactly what you'd expect. Metal construction, alarm is loud and startling, and ticks loudly. Hopefully you're not a light sleeper! But this is EXACTLY what this clock was intended to be, don't expect anything less.
