I got these for a project involving a laser tripwire. The idea was to connect the sensor wire from the receiver module to an NPN transistor controlling the ground of a buzzer. Problem is as far as I can tell the PCB with the receiving module does nothing at all. The same sensor leg voltages were present with and without the actual sensor connected to the PCB. If I pulled the sensor off that little receiver PCB and put it on my breadboard I got all the same readings. Im not sure why that PCB is needed. This is unable to control a tiny NPN transistor since the receiving sensor leg only rises to 300mv with the laser shining on it in a dark room from 2-3" away. That's not sufficient to control a transistor. That meant I had to include an O amp into my otherwise super simple circuit. It probably works fine with an Arduino or other controller, but does not work in a simple circuit.

Works great. Easy to interface with arduino.

Nice and low cost laser and receiver module. The receiver sensor will react to mostly any light source I tested (green or red lasers, white lamp from phone, and a flashlight). If you plan on using this for a project, you'll need to cover the sensor with a tube to restrict stray light sources. Pay attention to the orientation of the light sensor, if you put it in backwards, it will fry. The side with the lens bump, faces inwards onto the board (see pic).

One receiver package was missing the receive phototransistor, but overall, it was exactly what I expected for the price. These work good and I will definitely buy these again when I need more.
