Why did you pick this product vs others?:We bought this item to help with the removal of wallpaper that has been on walls since the early 1980s. The wallpaper has two layers; an outer vinyl layer and a typical paper layer pasted to the wall. This steamer is amazing. A few tips: The manufacturer recommends using distilled water instead of tap water so mineral deposits don't build up in the holding chamber. I used tap water and had no problems. The water chamber holds about a half gallon of water and lasts for about 2 hours when steaming. Be very careful when holding the steamer. Hot steam can burn. Unplug the unit and wait a few minutes before refilling the tank. It takes about 12 to 15 minutes to reheat the water and produce steam. There are two attachments for steaming. One is a large plate for bigger areas and one is small for small areas. It is very easy to assemble and use. I used a small, metal putty knife to scrape off the wallpaper after it had been steamed. I held the steamer directly on the surface of the wall for about 30 seconds and it was so easy to then remove the wallpaper. I highly recommend this product! We were worried that it would be a hard project to remove such old wallpaper, but this steamer is fantastic and has made the job easy. I hesitated to buy this item due to the mixed reviews, but am so very glad I did! It exceeded my expectations. Yes, it takes about 10-12 minutes to produce steam - the water has to heat and start producing steam. That is not a flaw - that is simply science in action. A full tank can last 2 hours.I was removing a thick wallpaper and did not want to use a scoring tool, however the steamer quickly softened the adhesive below the paper and made it simple to tear off. The paper backing remained on the wall, but the steamer softened that almost immediately and I simply used a scraper to remove that… Steamer in one hand and scraper in the other - it could not gone any easier! Great product for the cost: my painter was going to charge $450 to remove the paper in this room and the steamer helped me remove it under 3 hours!

After taking 5 layers of wall paper off of a bathroom by using Diff and scrapers, I decided to bite the bullet and by this steamer. Now I'm kicking myself for not buying one sooner. Easy to set up. It takes a while to get to steam but once it does it glides over the wall easily, loosening your scored paper. I stripped a whole bedroom in a fraction of the time it would have taken me using Diff. I recommend having an old towel or two near by for your hands and occasional drip, but this is the cleanest most non toxic way to remove wallpaper. It just peels off easily once it is steamed.About the unit itself: Wagner is a reliable brand. It's a little pricey for what you get as it's plastic for the most part and seems kinda cheaply made. BUT it gets the job done. I love that it has two different steam plate sizes as the smaller one is easier for tight spaces and the larger good for large wall spaces. Over all I think it will be durable and given the time savings well worth the investment.

Our whole house is wallpapered. Prior to this, we were using a clothing steamer to remove the wallpaper. This is, to put it lightly, a chore. One of our bedroom walls took 4 evenings after work to get it all taken down.When we bought this steamer, we were able to de-wallpaper the opposite wall in 4 hours! We were completely blown away! It’s already a great value for what it does. If you account for how much time this thing cuts out, it’s even better!Seems to be built well. We’ve had it for months, and we have no complaints. The long hose is awesome. It gives more flexibility, and makes the process easier - it almost weighs nothing at all since the reservoir sits on the ground. Compared to the clothing steamer, it’s lighter, more efficient, needs to be refilled WAY less, and is just easier to use. Why didn’t we buy this years ago?In our experience, the steamer seems to run for 2 hours when filled up. This is more than a reasonable amount of time. The only drawback is that you have to wait a few minutes for it to cool down to refill. Good to know, but not a dealbreaker.If I have any more serious complaints, it’s that once it’s on, it’s on. You can’t pause other than shutting it off. This makes it difficult to use with kids or dogs around. This is more than a bit annoying, but not as annoying as de-wallpapering for days on end. Although, in my experience, you don’t really want pets or kids in the room anyway.Just giving the bad with the good. But for us - it’s perfect. We LOVE this item. We would happily buy it again. And we plan to lend it to any of our friends who need to get the job done fast, and efficiently! If you are using a clothing steamer to de-wallpaper - even for a single project - do yourself a favor and buy this item. You won’t regret it.

What a time saver! I was able to tackle an overwhelming amount of wallpaper and glue in just a few hours. A few recommendations: wear gloves and long sleeves. Stand level with the steam tray, not underneath due to the steam and hot water dripping down. Cover floor or base boards to protect from water. Rip off as much dry wallpaper ahead of time and gently steam the remaining glue and use a scraper to lift the glue. It works great!

I love, love, love this Wagner steamer!! We bought a house that was filled with wallpaper and after some research this was the one that seemed most effective - and boy is it! It made such easy work of the stripping process, helping the paper to come off in large, long sheets without little bits left behind!It comes with 2 steam heads and I used the large one most. The small one came in very handy when working between the windows or window and wall, and other smaller areas. It takes plain tap water (unless you have hard water) and the steam lasts about 1 - 1.5 hours.The handle on the large head is a bit uncomfortable in the way it's made, but that's not a deal breaker. Also there is no on/off switch, so while you're actually removing the paper the steamer is still steaming. This wasn't an issue when I had a helper (one to steam, one to peel) but working alone it felt like a waste of steam though, again, not a deal breaker for me! The good definitely outweighs the bad!Overall, I LOVE this steamer and am so thankful I bought it! Small price to pay for such convenience and time saving!

This has saved me so much time! I had several rooms with multiple layers of wallpaper that had also been painted, this steamer really did loosen it. I have to say for the really stuck on places I think the smaller head actually worked better. Definitely worth the purchase.

3 stars only bc the return was easy. This unit quit on me after very little use. Complete disappointment and upended the project I was working on completely. Not sure if I just got a defective one or what. While it worked, it seemed to make the drywall too soft and I inadvertently scraped a lot of divots in the wall. I switched to the remover spray and that was much more effective, easier and less messy. Huge bummer!

Works really well, watched a few YouTube videos before using. Removing wall paper is always a pain, but this machine makes it a lot easier.

Used for taking up nasty old linoleum, I put 5 days of steady use on it with no issues.
