USB Extender Over Cat5/Cat6a, Up to 164FT(50m), 4 Powered USB Hub Over Ethernet, Plug and Play, No Driver, Works with Keyboards, Mouse, Webcams, Printers

Works well with a CAT5/6, eight-wire cable, over about a 50 foot distance, for use as an extender to power/supply a Logitech Unifying 2.4Ghz receiver, for a Logitech wireless track ball and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard cannot "wake up" a PC in sleep mode, probably because it's powered by the USB port which is off in sleep model. In any case, it provided 90% of the purpose we bought it for. Plus, the vendor provided GREAT customer service, and even offered a full refund when we thought their unit stopped working. I'll update if I have problems over the next year.

To start with, I bought this USB extender because it would work over my network switches. Yes it does as advertised but the manual only show you connecting the sender and receiver together in a point to point configuration. I tried it over my network despite the directions. It works perfectly. As far as speed goes I can not tell the difference between my HD camcorder being directly connected to the USB 2.0 port on my computer vs the extender's speed. Prior to using this extender I was using the AV Access USB Extender Over Cat5e/6 196 ft system. It is a good extender but I did not like the fact I had to run separate network cables to my control room. Your PC powers up the USB sender. Just plug in your devices and windows does the rest. I am using this on windows 7 pro.

Item claims it works "over lan unlimited extension". I found that it does work over a single layer 2 switch, but once it went up to my layer 3 switch, it stopped working. Also, once the sender side is disconnected, the receiver side starts sending so much traffic it actually took down my network. Super easy to see, as soon as I unplugged the sender side, my wife immediately asked if the internet was down :D After giving up on this, I started using usbip which is free and does not crash my network.

Excellent value for the money and very easy to set up if just using one direct wired cat5/6 cable. Works with minimal enough latency to connect an Xbox one controller as well as keyboard and mouse for a very serviceable gaming experience on a monitor in another room. Great connectivity and a solid connection.

I used this with three cameras and a conference room microphone with OBS. I wasn't expecting this to just work, but it did. No dropped frames or loss of quality and I was able to place the cameras to where I needed them. My cabling setup was reduced also (1 ethernet cable, direct connect from cameras and microphone to the USB extender vs 4 USB cables going back to a hub at my laptop). It's nice to have the added freedom in setups.

I am doing what a Buffalo drive can't do, and that is watch a video off a hard drive on 75 feet of either net cable. No taring in the video, which looks like it is local on the computer. This is also working better than a PI for what I need it for. I had it on a 5 foot cable, and the transfer rate is much faster on the shorter cable. So the length of the cable matters, but it is still fast. This is going to work for my application, without saying what it is. I have been looking for a solution, and here it is.

Bought this for a USB camera I installed on my laser cutter/engraver. Didn't work with my particular USB camera, but I was able to use it to connect my laser machine to my computer. Apparently, it doesn't work with some USB cameras. Which ones? not sure, but my camera is a Arducam 5MP Wide Angle USB Camera, 1/4" CMOS OV5648 Mini UVC USB2.0 Video Webcam. Which is known to be returned frequently.

I have a camera on a tripod that I use via USB as a webcam for Zoom meetings. It is finicky with USB cables because it is charging and sending video over the same cable. This remote solution works perfectly! My old one didn't have power on the remote end so it didn't work here. I even made a power cable for it by cutting up a USB cable and a wallwart that had the same coaxial plug. Now I can power the remote end via powerbank instead of the 5v wall power supply it came with. I've had a few weeks testing and so far it is rock solid stable using a 50 foot cat6 cable. The boxes are made of metal and are not delicate in the least. I can't imagine a connector breaking in any way.

I got this USB extender to be able to run a USB from my laptop in my office down to the basement so I don't have to keep moving my computer up and down when I want to use it downstairs. I paired it with an HDMI extender as well so I can easily have my media on my downstairs TV. I wasn't exactly sure how well this would work since it only supports USB 1.1, but it works excellently. I was able to push it to its limit and tested it with a mouse, keyboard, USB headset, and game controller all at the same time and it worked flawlessly with no noticeable latency. It also was able to do audio in and out. It does have some quirks as there are many devices that don't seem to be backwards compatible with it, including my USB switch, but I have a USB hub with four ports on it and it was able to support that. No problem. I ran it over a length of about 50 ft of cat5e cable and it seemed to work with no issues. I don't need any longer than that, but it seems to boast that it can handle a much longer length than that. I imagine if you ran a cat6 or cat6e cable, it should be able to do those lengths. I like that you don't need to provide any external power with this hub either, so it's just plug and play over ethernet and you're ready to go. Overall very happy with this hub and I would definitely recommend it.

To The Point Transfers worked but at a fraction of baseline speeds. My Opinion I tested this USB 2.0 extender with the same USB drive and a 12 GB .log file using rsync. Only one USB port on the receiver side was active for all tests. Results: Baseline (direct to computer): 44.634 MB/s Direct extender connection (Sender → Receiver): 6.451 MB/s LAN connection: 6.278 MB/s Live streaming from a security camera showed noticeable static While the connection remained stable, the throughput drop was substantial — roughly 85% slower than direct connection. I suspect speeds would drop further if multiple USB devices were active on the receiver. Pro: Simple setup, plug-and-play Con: Significant speed reduction over extender Con: Video stream quality degraded Con: Not ideal for high-throughput or real-time applications Pro Tip If you need fast file transfers, use direct USB connections — this extender is better for low-speed peripherals. My Verdict I’d give this 3 out of 5 stars for reliable basic connectivity but disappointing transfer rates. Works fine for printers, keyboards, and low-data devices, but not for tasks needing high-speed or real-time performance. I hope this helps! Cheers, Straight Shooter

Used this to connect my back lane camera to my KVM powered box and had one key concern of the USB 2 would cause drops and poor video results. By using a higher end quality 300Ft cable the results are completely up to par with no issues at all. The power adapter works fine and so far very happy. No tests for speeed were done nor were requiredd to keeep this review simple. Follow instructions and all should work fine most use. Usb Flash drive was also recognized and transfer rate is acceptable though being usb 2 not at premium or highher speeds thus loses a star.

Unreliable connectivity even using the specified USB 2.0 cable. Having a USB B connector is a questionable choice. They say you can use a hub as long as it’s backwards compatible with USB 2.0 but I wasn’t able to find a hub that worked with it. Bummer I was excited about it.
