UAFX Dream '65 Reverb Amplifier

I love the sound and feel of a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp. The UAFX Dream 65 is spot on and has drool worthy spring reverb that is the best you’ll find in a pedal. Yes there are tons of emulation gadgets, where you can load very convincing impulse response captures however if you’re just looking for a fender deluxe reverb in a pedal, then the dream 65 is the best choice on the market in my opinion. I run the dream 65 through an FRFR cab and can obtain real sweet fender tones at a very low volume and just sounds amazing. The dream 65 also handles pedals really well just like a fender deluxe reverb amp does. In fact this pedal is an amplifier and something that you could easily gig with. If you are like me and don’t want to dive into menus and do heavy tone tweaking, then the UA dream 65 is for you.

That's the irony of these devices. My Ruby is actually better sounding than my real vox ac15 with blue speaker. This sounds as least as good as my real twin. Mine, as soon as I plugged a telecaster into it, it just stayed that way. I put a tubescreamer in front of it and a keely compressor. Absolute heaven. Smallest full rig ever. A telecaster, this simulation, the most recent ts9 tubescreamer mini. I think the best sounding one ever. One good compressor so you can add squawk. Keely or dynacomp mini. Both are outstanding. Because of the outstanding built in reverb, you can make guitar sounds for environmentals, for anything professional and you have everything you need. Run some cables to your DAW or multitrack. I use a Zoom R20. The sound is so absolutely perfect. I'm almost saddened by how good the simulations are. I can't justify keeping my big amp rigs anymore. A PA head and some cabinets is all I need. My Ruby rig is bigger. About 11 pedals. I keep it on the Normal channel and push pedals through it. Sheer joy. This one, it's just about that telecaster sound for me. And that's enough. This could also be your pedal host. Probably better than the Ruby. I just like the Vox sound more. But for the tele sounds alone, this is more than worth it for recording. Especially if you are a working musician adding music to tracks for people. It's not just good. It's, they went out of their way to find the best sounding examples to model, good. It's better than radio good. And that's heck of a bargain at this pricepoint.

I have been playing guitar for the majority of my life and while I would not say I have tried everything, I have tried every majors amp emulator out there. The iridium, acs1, the phantom block by quilter, I’ve used Darkglass’ element as an ir loader for guitar. I have played the joyo amp on a box pedals. Everything I listed is good, but the dream just does it better. It feels more amp like in its response and has an interface that makes me happy. The app is easy to use and not entirely necessary. The boost circuits sound good. The reverb is drippy and dreamy. I will say the one thing I didn’t expect is that this plays better with the delay last in the chain. This is not how I would normally do this but this pedal sounded better that way. Not a con, just something to be aware of. I am very impressed and pleased with this product, and it is kicking my last amp pedal off my board permanently. I didn’t dislike the last one, this one just does exactly what I need it to.

I tried out the Walrus ACS1, the Strymon Iridium and the Dream '65. All of them are good, but the Dream '65 won out in terms of realistic amplifier feel and sound. Simply amazing pedal. -HOWEVER- The first Dream '65 I bought stopped working after several days, so I exchanged it for a new one. Unfortunately, this one also stopped working after two weeks of usage. That's it for me.

It sounds just like the Fender reverb tube amp I grew up with. But I can crank this one without losing my hearing. The spring reverb is astonishing. Dime the reverb and you can play surf rock on it. Just palm mute and you'll hear that snap and drip instead of some shrill delay or plate reverb simulation. If you've tried spring reverb pedals, you'll know what I mean. They're -- just not very good. Generations of players had a simple rig: plug a guitar directly into a tube amp with a spring tank. They didn't need anything else. Now I understand. I could just play directly into this and be happy forever. Recommendation: if you are using a Boss Katana to play this, either pipe it into the power amp in or into acoustic mode with all EQ knobs set to noon. Both sound great -- but only if you max out the master volume. Second recommendation: register the pedal so you get access to the three other speaker simulations. I think they're much nicer. Some of the three built-in speaker simulations have so much bass that it gets woofy. The artist-designed presets are also very nice.

The Dream 65' pedal does what it advertises...effectively puts a 65' Deluxe Reverb and 80's Overdrive Special in a box...almost. There's a couple things this pedal is not good at: 1. Taking Stacked Drives...this pedal is overwhelmed when you stack drives into it, especially if one of those drives is a Tubescreamer style drive. I can imagine it might be better, and a bit un-noticed in a live, full band environment...however at home, in a studio, with headphones on and volume up, there are digital artifacts that simply can't be ignored. 2. Clean Headroom...yea, I said it. This pedal struggles to stay clean, even with volume almost "off". On the tube amp of a 65' Deluxe Reverb Re-issue, I've found that I can stack a compressor (let's say a Cali 76) and a Clean boost (Xotic Super Clean) together, and still have a chiming, but now ultra sensitive clean that breaks up a tiny bit with right hand attack. With the pedal, those two together push this into overdrive immediately even with the lightest touch. So, who would be the market for this pedal? Tone purists, articulation addicts who don't stack drives, and want a mini Deluxe Reverb to haul around. If I needed a Deluxe Reverb only, single pedal rig with a Strat or Tele...this would be what I grab. It's so versatile in just that. It takes most pedals "ok", but I wouldn't compare this to a tube amp or higher grade plugin, as you'll receive different outcomes. Here's a small side note tho...if you're searching for the "Slow Dancing In a Burning Room" tone in one pedal, this quite literally nails it. Instantly. No other effects needed. Plug Strat in, fourth position on pickup selector...a bit of dialing in EQ, add in a touch of the INSANE reverb on this pedal, and you're there. It's kind of wild.

As Described ".. used..." But Notieable ... Excellent, 'Likely New'

After using this a while, it’s very apparent that this doesn’t sound just like a 65 Deluxe Reverb, but one singular particular 65 Deluxe Reverb. The character is that of an older amp that breaks up early, and is not necessarily pretty sounding when pushed. If you keep the Volume (gain) knob all the way down, it stays clean. Just use the output knob for volume. Pretty well does the job for recording direct. Still not sure that it’s good for live sound. 4 cable method is awesome. I tried it out with a Marshall origin 50, and it basically makes the amp a two channel amplifier. You do need an amp with an effect loop to use 4 cable method. Really, now I don’t need a ‘65 deluxe reverb reissue amp in my arsenal. The UAFX Dream ‘65 Reverb has it covered.

I bought this to add a lower cost fender amp sound to my set up which mostly uses valve amp heads in a complex wet dry wet set up. I already have a synergy tdlx module which I am selling as this is so much better sounding and has so many more tone options.
