For the money it costs, this is a very nice looking barrister case. Assembly instructions could be a bit more helpful but with minimal experience one can assemble it. Assembly is a one man job, no extra help needed. The unit is not flimsy, albeit it is a light construction. If you are not looking to make a statement and want to save money, this is definitely a buy.

Almost exactly what I wanted. The structure is a little more fragile than I expected. But the unit assembled well and I like the look of it. I may order another unit if the store will give me a nice discount....😉👍

I bought one these shelf units to see what I was getting was suitable for what I need to get my books out of boxes. These are self assemble kits that come in a box that you put together and they are made in China. This shelf unit did not exceed my expectations. Fit and finish is good and it took about 1 1/2 hours to put it together. My main concern with this shelf is that no wood member is greater than 1/2" thick and I can rack this shelf unit just lightly pushing on it with my hand. It's definately needs to be anchored to the wall to be stable. High earthquake area, these may be a bit sketchy. I am going to load this one up with books and see how it goes. I will need 6 more of these if I decide to move forward. Definitely recommend that you buy one only to see how it works for you before ordering more. **************** 2 year follow up ************* Junk alert ! Do not buy these shelf’s! After 2 years the shelf’s have warped from the the weight the stored books and can no longer open the doors. No fixing this problem and they heading to the dump.

The box was a disaster when it arrived, but everything was well packaged and undamaged. When I unpacked everything, I was pleased to see that the company included a pair of work gloves with grips! Super thoughtful and helpful because boy is this wood SPLINTERY. The cabinet was easy enough to assemble, but the lack of clear instructions and excess hardware confused me for a bit. The finish isn't great and the wood felt very dry, brittle, and as I mentioned, splintered easily and was converted in splinters. Not at all what I expected of bamboo but it seems sturdy enough once assembled. I also only received 3 handles instead of 4 which is annoying. I rubbed it down with some wood protectant oil and will let it air out overnight and I'll have to buy a replacement handle. This unit will replace my old 9-cube organizer, so I hope it holds up!

I've put together a lot of furniture over the years, and this is one of the most flimsiest. In the picture it is shown to be full of books. I have concerns it will even hold a full shelf of books. Some of the pieces came warped. It took three of use to hold it in place to secure the pieces. Some of the edges do no match up. Some of the pieces came splintered. Small splinters, but still for the price of this unit, I would expect it to be more solid and not have warped splinted pieces. If you try this out plan on having your own tools unless you have small vice grip hands and wear gloves. The tools provided are not very effective, and it's hard to handle the wood without getting slivers. The directions at not easy to follow and poorly written. They do not tell you how many pieces of hardware you need so you don't know if you have all the hardware until you're done. The pictures are tiny, and there isn't enough detail in the text to make things clear. But hands down the biggest problem is the flimsy pieces and that fact they arrived warped. It's together now, so I will keep it. I don't expect it to last long with regular use. There are also extra holes visible on the outside that are not there in the picture.

this unit is very sturdy and beautiful. My only concern when I purchased it is that the slide up doors might not fit real well. But I didn’t need to worry about that at all because the drawer slide up perfectly and when you close them, they are a real good and even fit. this unit looks like one that you would buy at a high-end furniture store for over $1000! I’m extremely pleased! The first picture is with the doors slid open, and the second picture is with the door slid shut. ~m

Bought several both here and at Walmart. When on sale, for $40-$60 in late February, it was quite good for the price. Probably not worth their full price of ~$200 Out of 13 bought, two were really badly damaged (cracked, bended, scratched), forced to return. Another one had to be glued extensively. An attempt to contact Monibloom about a severely cracked bamboo inner shelfs (in a non-damaged package) yielded several days of delay and no actual help - they advised me to complain to Amazon, and at that point we returned the item. BTW, return, as always with Amazon, was effortless. The shelves are nice looking, and the doors do block the dust. Assembly is easy. The bamboo structural parts are badly finished with splinters practically on each piece. Very light - a man could carry easily even the 5-tire 32" shelf alone. As a result not sturdy at all. We had to fasten the shelves to the wall The 12.3 (inner) height is enough for hardcovers, and the 12.6 depth is enough to accommodate two books, a hardcover plus a paperback. All inner shelves are "bamboo", some came a bit bended, but hold my (heavy) books OK. The handles are plastic with lousy thread. The "upper" door will not close if the one below it is in the "open" position - its handle does not provide the needed clearance. Might consider buy some more if the price would go down
