Fast and reliable Java card reader
Automatically recognized by Windows, I didn't have to install any drivers. It didn't have any issues programming or reading my Java cards.

Easy to travel with!
It took a while to get a chance to try this with a real CAC card but I finally did :) I like this reader; my computer does not have a built in reader and this is a small form factor that is easy to carry in my bag. I work heavily in the identity arena and secure cards are one item I want on hand to demo with. This fits the bill, although I am not usually using a CAC card for the demos. I just wanted to make sure it could read an actual CAC card, although in all fairness I did not try it on a computer linked to the US military network. Reading the card is sufficient, if it was on the network there isn't any reason it will not work.

Not recommend: not user friendly
This device is poorly supported, and is not recognized by my Mac or my iOS devices (to be fair, a closer look at the info states this, when ones half the cost do, perfectly fine!! — Moreover, this card has NO software to set a PIN on the card, so you must do this via Windows’s built-in Security Key management tool. Unless you know what you’re doing with hardware credentials that are FIDO2 compatible, and you have windows—NOT Linux, like the description says—to program the card, it won’t be useful. iOS devices can read the NFC, but not program the card.

perfect! works great! USB cable is shy of 2 inches. I would have liked another inch or so.

A solid CAC card reader
I have used Cryptnox® USB Smart Card CAC Reader for more than three months. The card reader is well constructed and built. It never fails to read my ID card and ATM cards. I am very happy with the quality and the performance of the card reader. I strongly recommend that you try it if you ever have a need for a decent CAC card reader.

Perfect CAC Reader for Security-Conscious Users
This Cryptnox USB Smart Card Reader has exceeded my expectations in every way. The sleek, compact design makes it highly portable while maintaining a professional appearance. I particularly appreciate how it sits nearly flush against my laptop's USB port, avoiding the bulky protrusion common with other readers. Setup was remarkably straightforward - true plug-and-play functionality on both my Windows 10 workstation and Linux machine. The device was recognized instantly, requiring no additional driver installation. The USB 2.0 Full Speed ensures quick card reading without any lag or connectivity issues. The build quality is exceptional. The matte black finish with the elegant Cryptnox logo gives it a premium feel, while the sturdy construction suggests this device will last for years of daily use. The card insertion is smooth yet secure, providing clear tactile feedback when properly connected. For those working in environments requiring CAC authentication, this reader is a reliable workhorse. I've used it daily for secure login and digital signatures without a single hiccup. The PC/SC 2.0 Standard compliance ensures broad compatibility with various security applications. Given its performance, build quality, and seamless cross-platform compatibility, this CAC reader offers outstanding value. Whether you're a government employee, contractor, or security-conscious professional, I highly recommend this Cryptnox reader for your smart card authentication needs.

Get the NFC Reader instead if you're going for the FIDO2 card
It's working as expected with the Cryptnox FIDO2 card except that newbie me didn't know that the FIDO2 standard is widely supported in NFC instead of an EMV SmartCard Reader... Turns out, this EMV SmartCard Reader is designed for their Crypto Hardware Wallet for storing CryptoCurrency. So yeah, if you're looking for an accompanying reader for the FIDO2 card then go get the ISO 14443 & Mifare Compliant NFC Reader.

Smart Card Reader works on Windows
It works with Windows. I use this for keeping my device secure. I just insert my smart card and it reads it just fine. It is small and the USB folds into the rear to make it easy to store and carry on the go. It worked with my card, so I assume it would work with any card that has a private key. No drivers were needed for me, but I also had another one of a different vendor that was already configured, so I am not certain if it requires any downloads. I did visit the vendor website and was redirected to their github page to see their software. It was a python package, but I did not try it yet because it "just worked".

30 Euro Karte defekt. Keine Empfehlung von mir.
