Doesn't come with an app, it's pretty much plug n play. I would assume that as long as your ipad has a USB connection then it will work

5gbps transfer speed? I don't think so. Very misleading product images. What's the real transfer speed??

It is fast on USB 3 connection. I transfer drone videos in a couple of minutes. On my old USB 2 card reader this would've taken 15 minutes or more.

Is this compatible with a samsung galaxy s2 tablet with the smaller usb point? if not, can you suggest one that is, please?

Yes, it got two connectors, the traditional (big) ISH and the modern smaller type (named "C")
