LEGO® bricks meet The Way Things Work in this fun, informative tour of the world of engineering, from the creative mind of expert LEGO® builder Jeff Friesen. In The LEGO® Engineer , you’ll explore how some of humanity’s greatest feats of engineering work, from towering skyscrapers to powerful rockets to speeding bullet trains. Then follow step-by-step instructions to build these marvels with LEGO® bricks as you experience the world of engineering in a fun new way. How do diesel and electric engines work together to drive massive freight trains? How does a container ship’s bow shape contribute to its fuel efficiency? How do cable-stayed bridges distribute weight differently than suspension bridges? You’ll learn the answers to these engineering questions and more as you build your way through over 30 models, all designed by LEGO® expert Jeff Friesen. Understanding the engineering principles behind these structures will not only help you better appreciate the world around you, but will also help you make your own LEGO® builds more realistic. Review: Well-Written and Informative! - Our grandson loves Legos and has received a great number of different sets over the years. He requested Legos again for Christmas but as he is now in his mid-teens and has a great interest in AND aptitude for all things engineering, I decided to hunt for a gift that was a bit beyond the standard Lego item with which he could use his vast amount of bricks. I believe I have found it!! This book is amazing. It's hard-backed and set up exactly as the Lego instructions are with one addition: it also explains in Engineering-ese how these marvels of advanced society work. There are instructions for approximately 30 different builds from bridges to buildings to "things that float." It is very well written, engaging, colorful and informative. Our Grandson is ready for such a book and I am just delighted with this Christmas gift. Review: Young adult loved this book! - GREAT quality book!

Thoughtful Blend of Engineering Concepts and Hands-On Creativity
The LEGO Engineer by Jeff Friesen offers a refreshing approach to combining practical engineering concepts with creative building. Rather than being just a collection of LEGO ideas, the book walks through real-world structures—such as bridges, trains, and ships—and explains how they function before translating those ideas into LEGO builds. What stands out most is the balance between education and creativity. The explanations are clear enough to be informative without feeling overly technical, and the included models (over 30 in total) provide a hands-on way to reinforce those concepts. The photography and layout are also well done, making it easy to follow along and visually understand each project. From an adult perspective, this book works well as both a learning resource and a relaxing hobby guide. It encourages a more thoughtful approach to building—focusing on why things work, not just how to assemble them. It’s particularly appealing for those who enjoy STEM-related activities or want a more meaningful LEGO experience beyond standard sets. On the downside, the builds may require a fairly large and varied LEGO collection, which could limit how much you can replicate directly. Some readers may also find certain sections a bit basic if they already have a strong background in engineering or advanced building techniques. Overall: This is a well-rounded and engaging book that bridges creativity and real-world knowledge. It’s a great addition for adult LEGO enthusiasts who want something more intellectually engaging while still enjoying the hands-on aspect of building.

Fabulous
My son will be reading it for years. There are a lot of sections he can't understand but reads them anyway. Loves this book. He learns a lot. And it keeps him busy for a long while!

Stupendo
Bellissimo. É in inglese, non ho visto se é segnalato, eventualmente unico neo per chi non lo mastica. Per noi va benissimo. Ben fatto e spiegato.

Love the book
Love the book and the concepts, would love if there was a site that showed how to make that design from the cover, it’s what drove me to buy the book, guess I can piece together from some of the individual builds!
