Game changer
These are very convenient, liked them so much I purchased a pair for my 91-year-old dad who has problems raising arms due to arthritis in his shoulders!

Serrated edge chops well, straight edge snips well.
Keep your fingers clear; this is sharp! The serrated edge close to the pivot point helps grip the item(s), holding them in place for a solid cut. The smooth part beyond the serrated part works well for snipping. It slices up a clove of chives and similar items quite quickly with the snipping scissor-like action, much better than a similar product with a full-length serrated blade. It also chops up carrots and potatoes quick enough with help from the serrated part located nearer the pivot point. The additional torque closer to the pivot point is what allows thicker items to be cut; it loses cutting force the farther out the item to be chopped is placed. I wouldn't exactly call it a hand-held chopping board or anything similar, but I do prefer it to a product with no serration at all on the blade edge. I was surprised at how many of those types are on the market. Any of these chopping devices can take some getting used to, but this one, which is basically dual-purpose with decent chopping ability along with quick and clean snipping ability is a welcome addition to the kitchen. I did want a better option for chives, leaves, and other softer/hollow items where scissors typically outperform a spring-loaded serrated-blade chopper, and found just that in this nifty device. Time will tell how long it lasts, but so far, I'm pleased. To those who did not like this product: try giving it to a friend who may or may not like to cook, but does appreciate simple yet effective tools. It would make an excellent little gift. Also, a friendly tip, cleanup is easy when performed immediately after usage,

Razor Sharp. Well Built & Great For Rough Chopping/Slicing
Razor Sharp. Well Built & Great For Rough Chopping/Slicing. This tool is a lot of help when it comes to protecting your hands during rough cuts. Unfortunately, there is a limit on how thin and precise your cuts can be. If it's a salad or a recipe where you can be a little more forgiving with imperfectly cut vegetables, this will save time and protect you from injury. As knife skills are my biggest weakness, it's a big help for me. If you need perfect uniformity for even cooking or ultra-thin slices, however, this can't help you.

A trick to using it.
Like scissors, the further back to the hilt, the easier it is to cut. For example, I cut my grape tomatoes toward the front end and I got more of a crushed tomato than a cut one. But when cutting toward the rear, it cut cleanly. I would say that you're going to need to cut at the rear for most raw veggies. Works okay but I'm probably going to use a knife instead. Or maybe it takes more practice to use properly. You're still going to need to cut larger items to smaller size to use this. Also, I am not as quick on using this as the online demonstration states.

Be aware
Does not work well! I saw an ad for a more expensive one and came here to save money. It cost me money instead. It wasn’t very sharp, it cuts crooked, and the spring doesn’t do very well. I’m not lying when I say I threw them away the day I got them..
