The lid is plastic and the only downfall to this cup. This is hands down my favorite coffee cup on the market but one lid broke when dropped and another I melted when trying to boil after leaving it my truck for a few days. They told me they will sell replacement lids soon. Highly recommend this cup.

I often like to drink w/o lid. Is it comfortable that way, or do the grooves on the inside make it uncomfortable to drink w/o the lid?

The grooves are low enough you don’t feel them and the opening is pretty rounded and not uncomfortable.

How do you clean the lid? Does it come apart for cleaning?

Nope but you can either hand wash with a sponge then clean it with a small bottle brush or simply put it in the top rack of your dishwasher with the lid pushed down as if you would do to drink the coffee/tea in your cup! The cup and lid are dishwasher top rack friendly! :)

Will it fit under my Keurig brewer? What is the height of the mug without the lid?

It really depends upon the model. It does not fit under the one I have at home, but it barely fits under the one at the office (not a commercial Keurig). It is 7.25 inches tall without the top.
