Good basic solution for plant watering -- at a reasonable cost
Year 2 update: Working great. Left on vacation for a couple of weeks. I live on a property with a lot of mature trees. Direct sunlight to the solar panel is about 4-5 hours daily. If it's sunny. According to weatherunderground.com, we had about 25% clouds, which DID include some rain. Because the predicted weather was no rain, I chose twice a day watering before I left. The unit was verifiably pumping water (after 2 weeks away) when I got home. I'm very satisfied. Last year's review -- This system does exactly what it says it will. It's very reasonably priced. So I give it 5 stars. I do wish it had some additional features, though. So far, it's been working fine for 5 days. See pics for setup. Simple system -- Solar-powered pump plus water distribution lines & fittings. Nice. Quite easy to set up but the directions are not very clear – a translation thing, I think -- and the print size is microscopic (hey I'm a senior citizen; have mercy). But if you understand the overall concept, you'll be fine. I see a few reviews that complain about draining the reservoir, but this shouldn't happen if the water supply reservoir is BELOW the pump and plants, which the directions DO specify (otherwise the water will just siphon out from the reservoir into the plants). I'd like to be able to tell how much charge the battery has at any given time -- so I can experiment with different charging locations. Does it need bright sunlight? Will it charge adequately -- or at all -- on a cloudy day? (Currently under evaluation) Year 2 update -- works fine in my partial sun situation - see above. I wish this system had more variable times and amount deliveries. But the features are 5, 15 or 20 minutes either once a day or twice a day (5 minutes once a day is MORE than enough for my situation). The directions say that the pump delivers about 400 ml/minute, which THE DIRECTIONS also equate to 8 ounces (I'm assuming this is US fluid ounces but Imperial isn't that much different). Well, my conversion tells me 400 ml = 13.5 US fluid ounces (NOT 8 ounces). OK -- so this means if it runs for 5 minutes, it should deliver 2 liters or 68 US fluid ounces -- which I verified as reasonably accurate by collecting the total output a couple of times in a kitchen measuring cup. So then this total amount will be divided by the number of plants that you have -- and each plant gets roughly the same amount of water. It's difficult to get less water into a single plant unless you add more plants -- but you can multiply the amount to a single plant by running several drip lines into it. I wish it would allow me to disable the beeping function when the reservoir is empty. (Year 2 update - It beeps after it shuts off, but doesn't continue. Verdict - satisfactory) Lastly -- make sure you're ready for water OVERFLOW because it waters each plant on your chosen schedule whether it rains or not. I don't think I'd ever try this inside and risk flooding by over-watering unless I had my plants set to drain over a tank that was as big as my water supply. Even for outside, I put my smaller two plants on a tray that drains to the ground (through some wider tubing than what is supplied with this system). Otherwise, any water overage would either spill onto the deck or keep the plants sitting in water (not good for my plants, anyway).

The 30-Plant Vacation Success Story
To prepare for a five-week trip, I moved my indoor plants to the balcony and integrated them with my outdoor collection—totaling over 30 plants. I set up the solar-powered drip irrigation system that worked so flawlessly it has now become a permanent fixture in my home, with a second unit already added for my indoor plants. The Configuration Custom Reservoir: I converted a large paint bucket into a water reservoir. By drilling holes in the lid for the intake and output tubing, I kept the water source clean and minimized evaporation. Automated Schedule: The solar timer was programmed for a 10-minute watering cycle every three days. Smart Distribution: * Large Pots: Two stakes for deep, thorough saturation. Medium Pots: One stake. Small Pots (3–4"): One stake each. The "Nesting" Strategy The real secret to the system's efficiency was the drainage layout. I placed the small pots directly onto the soil of the larger pots, creating a cascading watering effect. Any excess runoff from the small plants filtered down to nourish the larger ones, ensuring no water was wasted. The Verdict Five weeks later, I returned to a balcony of thriving, healthy plants. The system’s reliability and ease of use were so impressive that I’ve already automated my remaining indoor plants using the same method.

Its amazing if it works
I bought this because it seems to be working well for a friend of mine who suggested I try this out. It’s an absolute breeze to install and super easy to get going. Updating the review. The vendor did get back to me and they sent a replacement and the new unit is working just fine I would recommend it. It worked for 3 days and then stopped. It now starts and shuts down. Not clear whats going on. I reached out to support, and there was no response. So maybe have to return or dump it in garbage. The build quality seems to be reasonable.

The water contacts ERODE! DO NOT BUY!
So, I was running this for about 2 months, and everything was fine. Went on vacation, all the plants were nice and happy. But a few days after the 2-month period, it stopped working, giving me the "double beep" every minute. That is supposed to mean that it's out of water. It wasn't. I followed every troubleshooting step in the manual, and when in a fit of desperation I gave up, I wrote to the support email address. NEVER HEARD BACK - this is about 3 weeks ago from when I wrote this review. NOW, all of a sudden, it dawns on me... maybe there's something wrong with the sensor! So I went to look and sure enough, one of the water sensor tips had corroded! Who makes a water sensor out of a material that corrodes?! I sanded the corrosion off and got it as best I could, and tried again - failure. CERTAIN that I was right, I disconnected the sensor tips and shoved a bit of aluminum foil in the waterproof disconnect. VIOLA. It's working again. Of course, this means it could run out of water at some point and never shut off the pump. I am TICKED about this product. It seems so WONDERFUL, but it's like it was designed to fail a little bit after the return period ends.

This system seemed like a good idea. We bought it, installed it and it worked well last summer. However, it stopped working after one season. The firm were slow in replying when we tried to contact them but they did eventually reply and replaced the faulty system. It is working well now but we will see how this new system does next season. On the whole l am happy with it.

This system works, and it is really exciting to see it work and fun to put together. But not everything is perfect. The first thing to know is that even on the lowest water setting, it pumps out a LOT of water. I have a very large empty plastic rubbish bin that I filled with water and it emptied it in about 3 days. How would this last for my 12 day vacation? I solved this by putting the hose in the bin and having it drip in at the slowest speed possible so that the bin would refill over night. It worked, and this strategy kept my plants alive for the full 12 days! Hooray! The other problem was that when we got back, something went afoul and this system was beeping every minute or two. I don’t know what had happened, but I was able to silence it by smashing some buttons. Overall I am very happy that it kept my plants alive but wish the above two problems were not there. FYI I used this on many, many plants. The system in the box was not enough so I bought two expansion sets and pumped water to several plants all from the one source pump. It worked and it seems that there was no issue with expansion (I was worried that it might not reach the farthest tubes from the source but it actually worked!)

works well except that i may not have figured out how to regulate the amount of water to be dispensed yet.
