Aliens Epic Collection: The Original Years Vol. 1

This volume is the first of the original years series. It’s a great addition to this series. It has 3 different stories and it’s great to read. I feel like I read too much 😅! It’s a fun trip through outer space (a scary one too). The paper is a great texture but one bad thing that I found is, the cover bends a little when stored the wrong way. Besides that, it’s a great item! The story: Years after the first two Alien films, a Xenomorph attack in space leads the Colonial Marines to take action. Soon, the badly scarred Hicks and the now grown Newt find themselves swept up in a dangerous mission to locate and destroy the creatures home world! But when earth itself is overrun by a xenomorph outbreak, Hicks and Newt must join a renegade group fighting to reclaim the planet. Can a obsessed military man train aliens to wipe out their own kind? And can a old friend help Hicks and Newt turn the tide — by capturing an alien queen mother? Plus: An outer space treasure hunt becomes a battle for survival when aliens attack!

Enjoyed, art and stories were not dated like I thought they would be. Good stuff Jack!!

decent read a bit of a guilty pleasure...over all quality of print and binding is average...would have perfered a hardcover on premium paper in a omnibus

As an alien fan, this graphic novel was absolutely essential in bringing the alien story together. It’s definitely drawn in a comic book style in the artwork is exquisite. I would definitely recommend.

For a long time I thought there was no way to get the original version of the Aliens Earth Hive comics. When Alien 3 came out they renamed the characters Newt and Hicks to Billie and Wilks along with some other changes to fit with Alien 3. They also did this with the Alien Earth Hive novel adaptations too. So I was very pleased when I bought this collection and saw that they put the original version instead of the revisioned one. This storyline was way better than what we got with Alien3. I would also recommend William Gibson's Alien 3 novel too. It's definitely worth the money and your time if you're a fan of Aliens and wanted to see what Ripley, Newt, and Hicks were doing after surviving Acheron(LV-426).

The Dark Horse sequel to the first two movies. Better than the movies that followed, epic, BRUTAL and clever. And full of tragedy. And screams. When the Aliens reach Earth everybody will be screaming sooner or later.

Great compilation!

The first two films, Alien and Aliens are classics. After that the producers lost their minds and killed the cash cow. They could have created a franchise better and than Star Ship Troopers . But Dark Horse Publishing saw the potential that Hollywood missed and created a mythos far more enduring and nightmarish than anything we saw on the screen. The art is not always consistent. Sometimes it boarders on lazy. And the dialog gets too chatty. Especially in the last story in this set. But that is not bad enough to spoil the book. If anything, it makes you hungry for the next one.
