It Works If You Adopt Some Practical Steps
I usually don’t write reviews unless I feel strongly about an item one way or another. In this case, I think the item has been quite useful to me. It has saved me from having to bend and pickup. I am tall and not as flexible as I once was. For me that makes an unpleasant task more doable. I like that the bag is on my back and I have both hands free to handle the cord and the pickup vacuum. To minimize clogs I have adopted a few operating rules. 1) Don’t try to feed it too fast. Instead patiently work the edges while watching and listening to how the machine is mulching the pickup. Try to go too fast and you’ll be stopping to take it apart to unclog. Slow and steady wins in this case. 2) Don’t do the pickup when there is dew on the ground or after a rain. The machine tolerates some moisture, but too much and it clogs and it requires more time and effort to get it to pick up. If the leaves are in a big pile and some are damp, spread them out to a thinner layer so they can dry somewhat before you start the clean up. 3) Don’t overfill the bag. Not only is it easier to handle when the bag is only partially full, but the machine works better when it isn’t trying to add more mulch to an already full bag. Instead, I recommend positioning a trash bin close to your work area and emptying the bag frequently. After I adopted these practices, I haven’t had issues with clogging or inadequate suction. I still don’t enjoy picking up leaves in the fall, but the task is much easier with this vacuum/mulcher.

My Go-To Tool for Conquering Endless Magnolia Leaves
My neighbors in The Villages, Florida, warned me against buying the BLACK+DECKER 3-in-1 Leaf Blower, Vacuum, and Mulcher, insisting it would not perform well and that the mulcher would likely chip or break. They could not have been more wrong, and I am thrilled to prove it. Living here means battling magnolia trees that shed leaves constantly, year-round, turning my yard into a relentless mess. This backpack blower has transformed my cleanup routine. The blower clears piles quickly, the vacuum handles the debris effortlessly, and the mulcher powers through thick leaves, producing neatly compacted bags for easy disposal. There is no chipping or breaking, just consistent, reliable performance designed for Florida's humid, leafy challenges. Having tried cheaper cordless tools that failed after one season, this has become my favorite yard tool. It is comfortable to wear, simple to switch between modes, and powerful enough to tackle large lots with ease. For anyone in a leaf-heavy area like The Villages, ignore the skeptics and get this. It is worth every penny for the time and effort it saves. Five stars.

Works good on absolutely dry leaves. Won't pick up dirt very well.
I recommend this vacuum for dry leaves and grass, but it doesn't have enogh suction to pull leaves that are burried in the grass. If the grass and leaves are wet it doesn't pick them up very well. It also doesn't handle dirt well. I say this becuase when I edge my sidewaek, some dirt comes out of the groove the edger makes and this vacuum doesn't seem to have enough power to suck up the dirt left on the sidewalk; it only works well on grass and leaves. IF the vacuum picks up dirt, the dirt collects around the impellerinside the round plastic Orange housing and eventually slows down the impeller, so you'll need to remove the lower Black vacuum adapter and use your finger (or something) and get all the collected dirt out from around the impeller.

Great Product, Great Price!
I had the prior version of this product abd LOVED IT, except for the bag falling apart every 2 years (Cheap/bad zipper). Black and decker fixed that issue on this unit. The only thing that could be changed would be a bigger colle tion bag, but that would make it cost more. I took the open end and attached it to rung that hold the 50 gal contractors bags and when it fills I just slid on another bag. Mulches great, for a $80. Dollar electric machine, does everything I need it to do. GREAT PRODUCT.

Game-changer!
I'm very happy with this product! It cut my leaf clean up time dramatically! The suction power is just right. It easily picks up the leaves and small sticks. But in the landscaping, none of the rocks are picked up. In my city, burning leaves is illegal and the capacity of the yard waste bin is limited. This device grinds up the leaves so that disposal capacity is no longer an issue. The collection bag has an easy and effective closure device without a zipper to jam. I was concerned that the impellor is plastic, but it really is heavy duty. If pressed for negatives I would say the cord is a nuisance, but for the power, I'd still take that over a battery. Overall, very happy and I'd definitely buy it again...

Works great on leaves - Good Value
Reviewing after 1 year of use. I got a new house, and it has several large mature trees. This does really well with picking up leaves and some small debris like small sticks. Despite the propeller being made from plastic (which I was worried) it has held up just fine with my use. I have a pine tree in my front yard, which means year-long pine needles falling onto my river rock landscaping. It does pick up pine needles, sort-of, and barely. It tries to pick them up, but it only gets some of them no matter how hard I try. I switch to blow mode, and if the needles are on my driveway or sidewalk they blow fine, but if they are in/on my river rock, they don't really budge. I still don't have a good way of truly cleaning up these pine needles. Ugh. The backpack is light and I find it comfortable. Switching from suck to blow isn't my favorite, but I suppose it's as easy as it could be. Overall I like this for the price.

Blower is quite good; leaf vacuum clogs a lot
After 8 10 gallon bags of leaf mulching and vacuuming, I would have give this product 5 stars. And then came the clogs. Most of the time I could not get through one bag without it clogging. Sometimes the clog was easy to clear, but the clogs that occurred in the hose going to the bag were very time consuming to clear. And even though I 100% cleared the clogs they rapidly formed again. My suspicion is that something went wrong with mulching mechanism. Anyways, went from outstanding to terrible…I could easily get the job done quicker by raking and hand bagging. If all it did was mulch and vacuum leaves, I would give a 1 star ranking. However, for a corded electric blower, it is a rock solid product and certainly gives a more powerful output than what is customary for cordless blowers. So it has a place in my outdoor workflow. It only has two speeds. It would be nice if it had more speed options. Easy to operate and the design is excellent…if it only vacuumed leaves without clogging. I am disappointed in that feature. My lawnmower with bagging the clippings is much more efficient than this product for leaf collection.

Good power reduced by bad tube design for 5’10” user.
The blower has good power but due to the tube design it is less productive than other blowers I’ve had. The vac is better than any I’ve tried but still frustratingly slow. The details... The blow tube is about 10” too short to create a strong shearing jet of air that runs parallel to ground level. Due to it’s straight line tube—no curved nozzle attachment to change direction of airflow— all the energy out of the blower must be directed too far in front of me resulting in weaker force. Trying to move stubborn leaves (oak & maple) held by a bit of tufted grass by angling the tube down (closer to my feet) doesn’t work because the tube is too short—the straight line jet of air simply pins the leaf to the ground. A simple curved attachment for the nose of the tube as is common with other brands would, in my experience, have solved these problems. The condenser cone attachment that comes with the blower is, as others have pointed out, mysteriously ineffective. Today I’ll be using a Dremel and hot air gun to try and hack the condenser cone into a curved nose. I agree the vacuum & backpack leaf collection bag are the strengths of this machine but after the leaves had been blown into a pile to be vacuumed and shredded... as I hovered the vacuum tube over the leaves the process was still slow (I’m even using the optional & stronger metal fan)... I spent a lot of time wondering why I wasn't just using my excellent quality 10 amp corded Greenworks string trimmer with reinforced .80 string to mince the leaves and twigs inside a large trash can. Then I could wheel the much larger load of mulch over to where it is needed. Would this save time? Haven’t tested it yet. The blower is as strong as any electric I’ve owned but the tube design negates a significant portion of its power. It vacuums much better than any other blower/vac I’ve used but even after generations of evolution this is still a frustratingly slow process.
