Tim Holtz - Ranger Distress CRCKL Paint TRANSLUCEN, Translucent, 3

This is my favorite crackle paint!! It’s the only one I do not have trouble with. I’ve tried a lot of others but Tim Holtz products as always are made with quality products making it durable. I love to go over it with alcohol inks, Distress or Oxide sprays and even with re-inkers. Thin layers produce smaller cracking while thicker layers create bigger cracks. It dries very quickly and is transparent once dry. It is clear unless you put it on top of paper with colors. I have pieces I did over ten years ago and they all look as great as when I made them. I love how all the colors get soaked up and move around all the different cracks. It really is a fantastic product!!

Love this product for creative projects. It gives a beautiful crackled effect and adds nice texture and dimension. Easy to apply and dries well. Perfect for crafts and mixed media work.

Expensive for the size but I love the product

This is one of my favorite go to products for a crackled distressed finish.

I was so disappointed in this item. I expected to see a crackle finish, what I got was a complete mess. I read the instructions and even watched videos before I used the product. What you can expect from this product is nothing but visible brush strokes. No matter how carefully you apply it every line you make will be all you can see after it dries. And as for removing it plan on a all day task and 80 grit sandpaper. You'll still have visible brush strokes. The only way I could cover it up was with an expensive spray b paint that contained a sand like product. I finally had a presentable finish. I worked on this mirror for over 4 days trying anything I could think of to get rid of this finish. I hope someone reads this and tries another crackle paint because this one certainly didn't work for me. It only gave me more gray hair.

I was hoping for an effect that would crack through the white top layer of paint enough to clearly expose veins of the dark blue color underneath, but what I got was a superfine cracking that only conveys a foggy impression of the color underneath. I can imagine situations where that effect might be desirable, but it definitely wasn't what I expected. I wanted a much more distinct and dramatic contrast. If I had it to do over, I would add a layer of Elmer's glue over the top paint color, since I know that works with Mordant Earth, but I didn't want the flaking that generates.
