Best trouble light I've ever used. By Far. Worth fifty bucks!
A lot of the LED lights suck in my opinion. They seem to cast a lot of shadows and spend more time shining in your eyes than lighting up the surfaces that you are trying to see. This one is different. The temperature of the light seems to light up everything instead of cast shadows. It is thin and fits in very tight spaces. The battery seems to be quality compared to my craftsman light that sucks. The light output adjustment is useful instead of a useless gimmick. Overly bright doesn't help and not bright enough is even worse. The output adjustment is whatever you need. The magnet is strong and holds the light at any angle and isn't falling all the time. I researched the knock off ones that are cheaper. There is an electronics guy on Youtube that takes them apart and compares the way they are built. After watching that I decided to buy the good one instead of the cheap one. There is a difference worth the extra money in my opinion, especially the stronger magnet. There is nothing more annoying to me than having my light fall in my face or falling and breaking. I hope it lasts, I've only had it a few weeks. I'll definitely update this review if it breaks. Fifty bucks is a lot of money for a light but I'm glad I bought it at this point.

Great light!
I've only used this once this weekend but the magnetic base and linear light source are very useful! Most people don't think about having a linear light source. It's like having more than one light. If you use a flashlight you know that once your hand gets in where the light is shining it's casting a shadow over what you're trying to see. having a linear source means the light can get be used with less shadowing. I'd been looking for a compact light for working on cars that's rechargeable and couldn't be happier with my purchase. The magnet is very strong and tightening the swivel will keep it horizontal with stiff movement. i.e. it stays whereever you put it! The only improvement would be if this had a dock and inductive charger. I can see the tiny cover over the micro USB charging port being torn off allowing debris in, rendering the light unchargable and therefore useless. An inductive charger eliminates any openings and would make this products last for as long as the batteries hold a charge.

Wow, very impressive light output
I have been using a corded florescence drop light for 20 years and decided that I needed a new light. The older light still works but due to the size of the light and the cord that attaches the light to the wall I was thinking that there must be an upgrade with more light output and no cord. Watched you tube and found this light, great reviews and sized to fit in today’s tight engine compartments. This is an impressive light, plenty of light output, slim and powerful magnet mount that actually works. IMHO this is the pinnacle of under the hood or General home repair lights and I can’t belive I waited so long to update my lighting. As with everything these days quality costs money so this light is a little pricey but you get what you pay for and more with this light, very happy with my purchase and recomend the Astro brand lights. I like this one so much I am going to buy the smaller light as well.

A very good light!
I bought this light not expecting much, because I go through lights like crazy. This light exceeded my expectations. I have an automotive shop, so the light gets used daily. I've dropped this light several times from about 6 feet onto concrete and it still continues to work. Very powerful magnet. The dial knob is very easy to turn, so if you bump it, it will turn the light up or down. As far as the battery, I turn it off if I leave the car for any reason, so it lasts pretty much all day for me. It does take a while to charge back up, it's not a fast charger at all. I'm very pleased with the light.

Powerful!
I've been using this light professionally (helicopter mechanic) for a couple weeks now. Likes: - It's bright, and throws a ton of useful light. The light pattern is a nice, wide, even flood, and not a roughly bar-shaped narrow beam. - The light's brightness is infinitely adjustable between OFF and max. I can dial the brightness back if I'm working in an area where glare is a problem, or I just need a little extra light. Or, I can crank it all the way up and banish the darkness of a typical helicopter hellhole. - It's lightweight and slim. I can hang this light off a small wiring harness (with the built-in metal hanging hook) with no fear that it's causing unwanted stress or strain on the harness. I can also slip it into small spaces and gently wedge it into place, to precisely illuminate my work area and keep my hands free. - The magnetic base is super strong. This feature isn't quite as useful for me, as helicopters don't have an abundance of ferrous metal parts in the areas I'd be using this light, but it has come in handy in a couple spots. This feature is much more useful for auto mechanics and other tradespeople who work around steel & iron, and homeowners. I'm probably going to bond a piece of sheet steel to a piece of Plexiglass/Lexan to make a stand that fits my needs a little better. - Micro USB charging. The charging port has a small rubber dust cover to keep the worst of the dirt out, but it's not liquid-proof. Dislikes: - The switch. It's a single rotary switch (potentiometer, if you want to get technical...), for ON-OFF and brightness. There's very little detent at the OFF position, and very little resistance between OFF and full brightness. I'd prefer a stronger detent going into and out of the OFF position, and a little more resistance to rotation. - The battery life. I'd love for it to last longer, but a larger battery would increase the size & weight of the light.

Read the reviews of the 40SL and you will see that this light is fantastic for auto repair along with many other uses
This light is the same as the 40SL but instead of 2200mAh it has a 3350mAh battery. It's adjustable from very dim to looking into the sun bright. Read the reviews of the 40SL and you will see that this light is fantastic for auto repair along with many other uses. I bought it for auto and HVAC work but it's so bright and lasts so long and the magnet is so strong I'm sure it will be one of my most used tools. This new model isn't really being advertised much but I noticed that Eric O on the South Main Auto youtube channel used to use the 40SL but on a recent video was using this light with the blue friction tension ring. I had already loaded the 40SL into my cart but went on a hunt and found out that this new light with 50% more capacity in the same small footprint was available for a few dollars more. I don't use the hook on the top but it doesn't have much tension to keep it folded back, out of the way. It shouldn't be a big deal to tighten it up in some way or another so the few times you do need it, it's there but not always opening up and catching on things. I use portable lighting all the time so if there is a durability issue I'll report back.

Not satisfied
Purchased June 2023. Not used very often. The USB charging jack detached from the circuit board. They either used the wrong epoxy or the method of attachment was inferior. In either case it is a throw away item as they do not service their products.

ITS THE BEE'S KNEES!!
If you like Star Wars, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SABER OF LIGHT!! haha I use the heck out of it at work in the shop. I'm a full time mechanic and have always found Astro Pneumatic to be of top notch quality. The slim profile of this light fits just about anywhere on a vehicle and the thing is super bright. The battery life is good but I kinda wish we could remove the battery if we wanted to.. Id say my only complaint is the protective felt sticker on the magnet wears off rediculously fast. Like, it lasted 4 days for me.... For a $60 light its worth every single penny. It's good quality and will last for a ling time. I have a few of their other lights and they've been abused but still shine perfectly fine, without a single issue. Buy it!
