Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) has been sentenced to die for a crime he didn't commit and his brother Michael (Wentworth Miller) will do anything to save him, including getting himself imprisoned at Fox River Penitentiary. Now, armed with secret prison blueprints and an impossibly intricate escape plan, Michael will need all the cunning and luck he can muster to free his brother before it's too late. Review: Fantastic show - Prison break is one of my favorite shows on TV. I loved the show on first viewing, it was so raw, visceral, and so entertaining. I could not see how the show could be as good as it is for 22 episodes, or how they could go forward with multiple seasons (the characters are amazing, and while watching the show, you just want more) but luckily for me, and everyone else, the show does go on, and gets even better in the subsequent seasons. They are even planning a spin-off called Prison Break: Cherry Hill. If you never watched this show, it is structured similarly to 24, Lost, and Heroes. Meaning, each episode is not self contained, but rather, continues on each episode, offering multiple storylines throughout the season. Every episode ends with a cliffhanger, making it downright impossible to wait another week. You will tear through this series in 2-3 days. I really hope Fox will release season 2 on blu-ray soon, and announce their plans for 24 (it was supposed to be released around the same time as season 1 of prison break). Now on to the Blu-Ray particulars. The show was shot, and aired in high def. I managed to watch these in high def (when the show aired, cable, nor sat offered HD locals, so we had to move the antenna all over the place to pick up fox, and move the antenna back, to watch cbs or some other station!). With that said, these blu-ray dvds, look even better than I remember (Fox airs in 720p, or did back during this season). The show looks very good, movie quality good. It is presented in widescreen (not full screen, as the listing states). Each disc contains 4 episodes, the last disc has 2. You will notice no pixelation, nor any bad spots on the release. This is one of the best looking blu-ray discs I own. Blacks are black, contrast is high, there are no faults to be found in this blu-ray release. The sound is presented in DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track (48kHz/24-bit). The soundtrack is fantastic, you can hear everything. The sound effects are fantastic, you get a nice sense of depth, and it seems as though you can hear everything that is going on inside the prison. The only negative I can think of is season 2 has yet to be announced on blu-ray. So now I have to buy season 2 on dvd, because I must watch season 2 again. The show is really that good. Review: Season One of my favorite TV show - Shows such as Prison Break, Heroes, Lost, the old X-files are, to a significant degree, reflections of how many of us perceive the world around us during these uncertain and unsettled times: - larger portions of our lives are influenced or even controlled by high-level entities or organizations who now have the means to implement their agendas - things are almost never what they seem because hidden forces are at work - only very few insiders completely understand and control and set the agendas for these all-controlling entities - we should consider ourselves lucky if we can figure out the who's and the how's that change our world but we may never get to know the why's - these hidden and mysterious 'powers that be' plot, plan and act globally On 'Season 1' Michael Scowfield gets himself convicted so that he can be sent to prison so that he can help his brother, who is (unjustly) on death row, escape. Does it sound over-complicated? It does, because it is. While working on the escape, Michael, a control freak and a genius, interacts with a dozen inmate characters, ranging from mid-level Mafia types, to unjustly convicted, to unlucky, to mentally deranged, to truly sadistic, vicious murderers. And, there's the world outside. He has friends who help him and his brother has extremely powerful enemies - how does the President of the U.S. look like, when we think of enemies? Well... she's far from being the most powerful because there is this mysterious 'company', controlled by we don't know exactly whom attempting to implement some agenda we are not aware of (see the first paragraphs of this review for more clarifications). This is a GREAT series, in fact my overall favorite and the Blu-ray version takes advantage of the higher screen resolution. I do not believe that there are any gee-whiz, Blu-ray specific extras on this bundle but I don't care much for extra anyway. I am just happy to watch the actually show in high definition. We own seasons 1, 2, and 3 already and we are looking forward for the upcoming Season 4 release - sorry, there's way too much suspense for me to watch this on TV, one weekly hour at a time.

Just when you thought you knew what would happen...
I am a new fan of the series and admit that I never had taken the time to watch any of the episodes while they were on air but I am certainly glad I checked it out now because it is a fantastic series! It took me just a few episodes to become hooked and the thing I love most about this show is that just when you think you have things figured out, it pulls a complete 180 on you and I love when a show can do that. It does not happen all that often and when it does, you know you found something worth watching. I have heard that the rest of the seasons get to be a bit much in terms of being on the outlandish and unbelievable side of things, however this first season does not feel like that to me. I mean, come on, most shows are going to be far fetched anyway simply because of the fact that it is fiction and it is meant to entertain so I really do not think there is anything wrong with that. I am always pumped to watch the next episode wondering how they could possibly top the one before. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone that is ready to be on the edge of their seats for the better part of an hour. If you like the type of show that leaves you wanting more and throws you a curveball when you least expect it, then you have come to the right place. Sit down and enjoy the ride

Prison Break is the best TV Show ever!
At first I was hesitant to watch the show as I thought, 'how could a show about some guys trying to break out of prison be at all interesting?'. Then one night I watched episode 13 and I was hooked! I borrowed the first part of the season from a friend and soon I was addicted. This is the very best TV show to ever hit the tube! The plot, the characters, the script, the suspense, the action - a brilliant masterpiece! The acting is top class - each actor plays their role so authentically and Wentworth Miller is perfect as Michael Scofield. The show is shot at Jolliet Prison which creates a genuine prison vibe and the script and storyline are excellent - the writers have done an outstanding job of ensuring that each episode is intriguing and keeps viewers thinking. This is a total hit and I would highly recommend buying the DVDs whether you have watched every episode or never seen it before. It is great to watch it more than once to see how everything in the story fits together.

You need valium to watch this show...
I gave up on TV some time ago. However, a friend of mine recommended Prison Break and out of politeness last Friday I bought the pilot episode on Video on Demand, just to say I had given it an honest try... Well, a weekend later and I have just finished viewing the entire season one. I can honestly say, it is the best TV show I have seen in at least a decade. Clever? Check... Suspenseful? Check... Thrilling? Check... With a couple of easy on the eyes men, and a possible, if not always probable, plot? Check... Who would have thought there would be enough material in a story about a prison break to keep you SUPER glued to your seat for 22 episodes?! Basic story: a man with a shady past is sentenced to the electric chair for killing the brother of the current VP of the United States. Turns out the man has a quirky genius for a brother, as well as an attorney ex-girlfriend who are willing to risk their lives in order to save him, because, of course, he is innocent. Add to the mix a shady company, a major government conspiracy, and a VP with her eye on the Presidency, and you have a heck of a ride! Enjoy the thrill!

Fox has done it again!
Although often unbelievable in its portrayal of life behind bars such as the prisoner's easy access to chemicals, cash, and weapons-grade metals, death row inmates intermingled with the general population, and the respect offered the sexually sadistic child killer T-Bag among his peers, "Prison Break" is superb in its ability to grab the viewer's attention and hold it captive throughout each episode of the entire first season. If you require realism and attention to detail when watching a movie or TV program, you won't be satisfied with this series. Otherwise, prepare to become absorbed into this great story interwoven with dramatic subplots and surprising twists which will keep you glued to the television. The series flows well due in large part to an excellent cast of new faces and veteran actors, making "Prison Break - Season One" network television at it's best.

Wonderful show, Wonderful service
I chose the rating 5 stars because of several reasons. One, being that it's an awesome show. Two, because of the shipment and condition of the USED DVD was highly exceptional. Given this Season 1 box set was my first purchase of the series, I was a little scared considering I was reluctant buying 'used'. But money was tight so I opted for the cheapest I could find. It really wasn't that bad getting the cheapest one on the list of prices from different buyers. No scratches or damage at all to the artwork nor the CDs. The show I watched marvelously without the commercials!! And I became hooked. I bought the rest of the seasons as well. Highly recommend this show for anyone looking for adventure, thrill and edge of your seat plots plus likeness for the characters. Side note: For those of you who have Netflix, you might wanna check first to see if they have it because you can watch the entire series of Seasons 1-4 continuously. When I bought the series off Amazon years ago, I didn't have Netflix. But I'm still a fan of the show and would buy it again if I could for my collection. I love it that much.

Cute Poison!!
WOW!!! I was pretty much reduced to repeating this 3-letter word after completing season one of this phenomenal show (in 3 days flat!) Pros: 1) Wentworth Miller (of "Human Stain" fame) is awesome as the main protagonist Michael Scofield 2) The bond between the 2 brothers is very well shown 3) Dominic Purcell does a really good job of portraying the innocent man condemned to the death sentence ("John Wilkes Booth", "Lee Harvey Oswald" "Lincoln Burrows"- my name's gonna be taken in the same breath as those freaks!!) 4) The supporting cast - Peter Stormare, Robin Tunney, Sarah Wayne Callies, Stacy Keach, everyone's brilliant 5) The pacing is so good, you never feel bored, but character development is given great emphasis too- a feat even 24 couldn't pull off 6) The DVD set itself is great, with loads of special features and commentaries, gives you a few hours more of viewing. Cons 1) Where's season 2? - release it NOW!!!! This show is probably the only one that has a shot at beating Fox's own 24. Ending this with that note, I think am gonna go and see the entire season again! :)
