I purchased the Xtool IP616 about a week ago because I wanted a dedicated scanner for the garage. This allows me to keep my Xtool A30M (which has been great so far) in the car with me, since it’s a small OBD II dongle. It's very handy to have when you’re away from home and don’t have a full-size diagnostic tool with you! So far, the IP616 has been a very capable scanner. At this price point, I don’t think you can do any better. Consider these points: 1. Bi-directional Control: This is necessary for testing components like window switches, headlights, and purge valves. 2. Free Lifetime Updates: Most high-end scanners require a yearly subscription for updates, which can cost hundreds of dollars. This scanner includes free lifetime updates! 3. 34 Special Functions: These range from standard oil service resets to programming keys and certain modules. 4. Live Data Graphing: The ability to graph up to 8 data PIDs on one screen is a huge bonus. Being able to watch things like fuel trims and O2 sensors in real time makes diagnosis much easier. 5. Data Export: It has the ability to record data and export it to a CSV file, which is incredibly handy for reviewing data later and pinpointing exactly when an intermittent issue occurs. 6. AI Diagnostics: Having integrated AI to help diagnose an issue—or even explain how and where to find a fix—could be really helpful. I haven’t had a chance to use this feature yet, but I look forward to checking it out. 7. Endoscope Compatibility: I understand that this will work with their XV200 endoscope, which can be extremely helpful when you need to look inside a cylinder wall or confirm a valve is operating properly. There are a few things it doesn’t have, like a topology map. That is a nice feature to have, but it's hardly necessary at this price. So far, I have tested this on my 2021 VW ID.4, my 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, and a friend's 2018 Ford F350 Powerstroke. None of these vehicles currently have any issues, but I was able to get into all the modules and perform bi-directional testing—except on the VW. The ID.4 features Volkswagen's "SFD" protected gateway, which requires an unlock to access advanced module controls. However, I was still able to scan for codes and confirm basic operations on it. For instance, I could verify the window switch was working by looking at live data to see the switch engage, even if I couldn’t use bi-directional control to roll the window down. (Being an EV, I doubt I would be diagnosing much beyond a window switch or a parking sensor anyway!) As I said earlier, you’d be hard pressed to find a more capable scanner at twice this price. Plus, Xtool has great customer service and support. What more could you ask for?

​I recently picked up the XTool IP616 and have been thoroughly impressed by the depth of features and the speed of the interface. This tool punches way above its weight class. ​ The live data functionality is where this scanner really shines. The ability to display up to 6 charts on the screen simultaneously is a game-changer. Being able to watch O2 sensors and Fuel Trims for both banks at the exact same time makes diagnosing complex issues much easier. The data refresh rate is very fast, allowing for detailed charting that catches even the smallest signal dropouts. ​ I love that the device records data logs directly as CSV files. This makes it incredibly easy to manage the files or export them if needed. Reviewing a log is intuitive and quick, the playback interface has a slider that lets you rapidly navigate through the recording to find the exact frame or timestamp where an issue occurred. ​ The Android-based interface is snappy with zero lag, and the scanner is packed with special functions and resets that usually require much more expensive equipment. It even comes in a sturdy case that fits the shop environment perfectly. What really sets XTool apart, however, is their support. They stand behind their product and are responsive if you ever have questions or need assistance. ​If you are looking for a scanner that offers professional data graphing and robust recording features, the IP616 is a fantastic choice.

This thing is a must for someone who wants more the just a scanner/code reader. Has many useful features on it. Pretty much does most things a garage would charge you to do. This thing will pay for itself in no time. This is not for someone who doesn't have knowledge on vehicles tho. You can reprogram things on accident if you're not careful. You are able to rewrite vin numbers in the ecu so be very careful. It is always updating features so you definitely need to have it hooked to wifi. Worth every penny!!! I like the key programming features and the reports that you can send to a printer just like professional mechanics can do. It will give you the security codes for having keys made and remotes progammed as well like a professional locksmith and dealers have access to. It also takes to the internet to show videos on how to repair things that it diagnosed. Tells you the actual mileage on a vehicle thru the vehicles computer so you know if someone tells ya the motor was replaced like people do on many internet sites all the time but they don't have the paper work to prove it! I could go on and on about this thing and all the features but i think y'all get the picture. If you're looking for more than just a plain little code reader to clear codes this is definitely it and at a darn good price! Just buy it you'll be glad ya did! Like I said it will pay for itself in no time.

I had the tool for literally 2 days it worked fine I put it up and went back later to use it again and it stopped connecting I tried it on 3 cars I have and same issue with all them not a bad scanner personally may be a used 1 they sold to me that someone else returned I'm upset and this pushed my project back and now I have to wait for another 1 or reorder

Works for most of my cars but won't read my jeep ecm. I don't know why but works great on my chevy.

Yes it’s a code reader and yes you can clear codes but is so much more. It’s bidirectional so you can turn things on and off from the scanner to test them. Like you have a car that’s overheating and you’re not sure if the electric fan is working well you could run the car until gets to operating temperature and watch for a fan to work or you could turn it on and command it on even before the car warms up. This also has an AI assistant, which means after you scan when you pull up the codes and you have the code list you can click a little AI button. It automatically knows your make model what code it is and runs you through a procedure for testing and replacing the part of necessary. Now I’ve only been able to use a simple problems so far, but I think it will be very helpful when you get more complex stuff for things I’m just not used to dealing with. I’ve used AI like ChatGPT, but then you’re putting in all this information and it’s not really giving you as good of a detailed step-by-step thing that’s more of a conversational model. The AI in this could care less about conversation is trying to help you fix and identify the problem. On a sidenote, it’s chargeable by USB-C, which is great because I’ve got that all over the shop.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent diagnostic scanner I’ve tested the XTOOL IP616 on multiple vehicles, including a Volvo, a Vauxhall Vivaro van, and a Mini Cooper S, and it performed flawlessly on each one. It quickly read and cleared fault codes, successfully carried out an oil service reset, and even reset an AdBlue warning light on the Vivaro after it failed to clear automatically following a refill. The touchscreen is responsive, the menus are easy to navigate, and the diagnostics are fast and comprehensive. Overall, it feels like a high-quality, professional diagnostic tool that offers excellent value for money. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
