It is not as sweet, obviously, as other cacoa mixes. I love the flavor, though! I do have to add some sweetener, but it's also really great with extra healthy creamer!

The first thing to keep in mind with these is that it is a small packet designed for a small cup, like an espresso cup, or a Turkish coffee cup. When made it this way it has a rich delicious flavor. I have made it with water and with oat milk, both were very good. I do not detect the mushroom taste at all, which is good and the chocolate is rich and dark so if you like milk chocolate, definitely make it with milk not water. Has a nice warm cinnamon, and something else. Spices added. It is quite delicious. However, if you make it in a regular size mug, it will be severely diluted almost no flavor at all. I did make it for my son in a regular mug using chocolate almond milk and he said it was good that way. I mainly bought them for him because I thought they would help him concentrate in school. I do not actually know if they helped or not but I hope that they did. as for me, I have ADHD, and do not take any medication for it. They did have a bit of a calming effect on me.

I bought this product (and several others) searching for a morning drink replacement for an addiction to morning hot Mocha drinks. The Reishi Cacao is a much healthier alternative to the mass produced coffee and syrup combos I had been drinking almost daily for years. Since 2020, when I stopped working for soul sucking people at soul sucking places and finally began focusing on my wellbeing, the daily coffee “reanimation” to function also had to go. I feel so much better making the switch, I can’t even begin to describe it! No energy crashes, greatly improved sleep, improved stomach and digestion, noticeably less anxiety, and better mood. So for me, this product is a winner. Now, there are a few things that could use some improvement. 1) The taste: not my favorite. In fairness to the product i never drank straight espresso either due to the taste. I add additional organic cacao and then a milk to it (coconut and cashew are my favorites so far). Which makes the product both more palatable and better quantity (fills a normal mug after alterations). Even my husband has been adding it to his routine instead of coffee or, even worse, a morning energy drink. He agrees he feels so much better. The other weird thing? It doesn’t always dissolve well. So you get a lovely clump (or 10) of weird taste and texture to mull over. 2) the quantity. As mentioned by other reviewers and in my statements above: the amount this little packet makes is menial at best. But, it’s not a dealbreaker for me as I basically use this in addition to other ingredients. I do wish they made a bigger box or at least a canister so there was less waste. The foldout display box is trying to be clever I guess, but totally irrelevant in my pantry. Just give me product not hassles. 3) the price. Yeah it’s not “cheap” as others have pointed out, but honestly: when you spend $6 or more every day one ONE drink, a little over $1 is a huge improvement. I’ll take that math any day. Just more product quantity options, less wasted packaging, please! Bottom line. It's at least worth a try out. For me, it’s been a good ride.

This stuff is great however I wouldn’t recommend just using water (instructions say) as I didn’t enjoy it at all when I tried that. With oat or almond milk it’s delicious😍

I’ve been purchasing Four Sigmatic mushroom cacao for almost a decade now. I stopped for a while as I just became a little burned out on it, but recently began buying it again. The grit from the reishi is more prominent than it used to be. It’s very present in the last third of the drink. The price has also surged by nearly 100%. It continues to rise every time I reorder. I find it very disappointing as it has never been a cheap drink mix and now it’s not worth it to continue to buy it anymore.

I am a night owl and have always found it difficult to go to bed before 1:00 am. My best friend made me a cup of the Four Sigmatic Mushroom Hot Cacao mix when I was visiting, and I couldn’t BELIEVE how well it worked. I was skeptical when she handed me the mug, but I started yawning about 10 minutes later, and we called it a night. I had the stuff again the next two nights and, for the first time in months, fell asleep before midnight. It has an earthy, slightly bitter flavor, hardly sweet — but it’s not unpleasant at all. I find it pretty comforting. Each packet makes enough for 100 ml/3.5 oz/6.5 Tbsp of water (or your beverage of choice). If you want a full 8 oz mug of the stuff, you’ll need to use two packets. I use one packet for a small cup, and that’s enough to start making my eyes and forehead feel heavy. It is now part of my nightly routine at home. Definitely recommended! Update, July 2018: The price of this item has fluctuated drastically in the past few weeks and has gone much higher than what I feel 10 packets are worth, so I decided this past week to buy reishi powder in bulk and try making my own version of this mix with cocoa powder, cinnamon, and agave nectar. I figured out the proper ratios to mimic this blend, and it works great. To save on money, I'll be sticking with my homemade mix as my nightly drink, but I will keep a few Four Sigmatic packets on hand for when I'm traveling.

I had purchased this beverage a few years ago and enjoyed it and found it to be relaxing at the end of a hard day. However the small serving size made it expensive and I stopped reordering. When I saw there was more of a bulk package I decided to try ordering it again, even though it was still expensive. I thought at least I could get a decent size cup of hot chocolate if I wanted to double up. However this product is not the same as the previous product. I am very sorry to say that this product is disgusting AND not calming at all. People DO BETTER. Go back to your original product, with the option of the bulk size. It is still expensive but now much less worthwhile.

My ABSOLUTE FAV!!!! Oh I think I may be addicted to this lovely healthy hot cocoa! Love that it is PACKED with all the healthy nutrients of mushrooms. Yet ya never taste it.I have tried other brands but my sensitive tummy reacted to each. This is the first that did not flare me up. Yes it costs more but the smoothness and consistency in the flavor is sooo worth it! Also, Yes it does make a smaller cup size, and sometimes i like that. If I'm feeling like a larger one, I simply add a bit of raw cacao powder, pinch or two of ceylon cinnamon, and top it up. It took some experimenting to get the right ratio, but well worth it. Love this cup of goodness. Truly relaxing and enjoyable. Especially if you are dairy, sugar, Gluten intolerant. I have also added a dolop of chas whipping coconut cream on occasion, but only once or twice. I really enjoy the hot cocoa flavor of this one as is!

This is such a good alternative option for hot chocolate. I’ve been getting this for a while and really look forward to it as the taste is so good. Very different to the average hot chocolates that are laden with sugar so that’s all you can taste when drinking. I wish they would sell it in a pot to give more value but I will keep buying as I love it.
