Quality Shelving at a Reasonable Price
It took me about 30 minutes to put this shelf unit together. I'm a 77-year-old woman, with multiple disabilities, and it was a snap to assemble. Assembly time included opening the box, removing all the wrapping, putting the small parts in bowls, and the actual assembly of the unit. The problem some people are having is due to not reading the directions if they aren't familiar with how these shelves go together. You need to keep the sets of poles together and not get them mixed up. Lay them out as they come out of the wrapping. While they should be interchangeable, that isn't always the case and there is less likelihood of a problem if you keep each set of four poles together. Screw in the four wheels to one set of 4 poles. With the poles lying on the floor, wheels facing you, decide where you want your first shelf to be. It will cover the black, plastic shelf clips so that should give you an idea of where the shelf will finally rest on the pole. Look for the arrow on a black shelf clip and have it pointed away from you. Line the line on a shelf clip up with a line on the pole and clip it in place. You shouldn't be able to move the clip up or down on the pole if you lined up the clip properly. Attach a matching clip to the one on the pole. Make sure the arrow on the clip faces away from you. The two clips won't totally come together to make it easier to remove them if you decide to change the position of a shelf. That gap won't affect the stability of the shelf. Lay a shelf on its long side with the lip facing you. Feed one of the wheeled poles through a hole on your first shelf so that the wheels are facing you. Push the pole forward until most of the shelf clip is covered by the shelf. Repeat with the other 3 poles. Set the shelf unit up on its 4 wheels. Decide where you want your next shelf and attach the shelf clips by counting lines up or down from a set of double lines. With a second set of clips on the poles lift your next shelf up, with the lip facing the floor, and set it down on the poles so that it covers the second set of clips. Depending on where you want your next shelf to be you may want to screw the next set of poles to your bottom poles before adding another shelf. Screw in a coupler for each pole then screw in the remaining poles. Flip a pole if the pole and coupler give resistance. You can force the pole to screw into the coupler but it is easier to flip the pole and less likely to damage the threads. The rest of the shelves are added like the previous ones. After the last shelf is in place push the pole end caps into the top of the poles and your unit is finished. While these lighter units aren't as sturdy as the commercial units they work great in most home situations. I have similar units that I put together over 20 years ago and they have been heavily loaded and moved many times. Don't let the negative reviews discourage you from purchasing these shelves. I know it is confusing if you haven't put this type of shelf together before, but once you get the hang of how the shelf clips work the shelves assemble really quickly. Even the larger units can be assembled by just one person in about a half hour. If you take the few minutes to learn how the clips work the rest of the assembly is pretty much intuitive. And the result of those few minutes will be versatile shelves that are sturdy and can be moved from room to room. It is really hard to go wrong purchasing these shelves.

Great set of shelves, neg review take with grain of salt
Okay, first of all this shelving unit is absolutely great! The price is great for the quality you get. The assembly is easy, as long as you follow directions and put the shelves on correctly. It holds my microwave, countertop devices and some dishes and pans. As to other reviews saying things are broken or it doesn't fit together all I have to say is read the directions so you can assemble it properly. The complaints that the plastic pieces that go on the rails to hold the shelves not fitting together completely, that is how they are suppsed to be. They need to have a space so they can provide pressure when the shelf is put on it. As to having to use a hammer to set the shelves, yes that is normal. Again it needs the pressure to stay in place so it most likely shelves won't go on with hand pressure. As to the broken pieces loose in the box, they are shipping shims to keep the shelves separate. These pieces are not needed for assembly, again read the directions. I saw a couple of pictures with crooked shelves, this is due to not having the plastic pole pieces at the same level. Use a measuring tape to be sure they are all at the same level. There is also one picture that is all jacked up with shelves all over the place. This person assembled incorrectly. The shelves only go on one way. The four corner holes are tapered and need to be put on the poles tapered side up. The easiest way to figure it out is the part than hangs down about an inch from the shelf should be facing down. If you put it the other way the shelves will not go on correctly. I have assembled these type of shelves in the restaurant industry and I find a lot of the negative reviews to be the fault of the assembler. The damaged product reviews are different. However, that is not the fault of the product or Amazon that is 100% the shipping company. I hate when people blame Amazon for something they have zero control over. Overall, I recommnd these shelves. They are sturdy and have a lot of room for storage. I do wish they were a little deeper, but it works great fir my needs.

Versatile, strong, & perfect anywhere!
I absolutely LOVE these & buy one whenever I can. Because of how they're put together, you can use them on uneven surfaces. I have an area near the side of the fireplace where I couldn't put anything before because there's an 8" difference in the floor height. This went in that space perfectly! Yes, 2 rods on one side stick up higher than the other side, but it's a great place to hang your hoodie. LOL!

Lightweight Storage Rack
I bought this for my basement and it's fantastic. Assembly took about 15 minutes, no tools required, which is a huge plus. The adjustable shelf heights allowed me to fit large storage bins on the bottom and smaller toolboxes up top. It feels very sturdy once you have some weight on it. It's nice and lightweight, which makes moving it around easy. The size is perfect, it fits everything I need on it, including all my Amazon items. Just be careful to inspect for damaged shelves, they won't sit level if bent. Otherwise I'm really happy with this rack.

Works perfectly with Sterilite 15 qt Latching Storage Tubs
I finally got up the courage to tackle our neglected, chock-full storage unit in the terrifying basement of our 100-year-old building. These shelves were the key to the project — they’ve added so much extra space through the wonders of good organization! We put everything together in about 20 minutes. It helps to have a second set of hands for when it’s time to drop on the shelves. Manageable for one person, but lots easier with two. The clips that keep each shelf in place are easy to put together but, like lots of others have said, they don’t join perfectly. They don’t need to be perfect, BUT the unit will be more stable and the shelves more straight if you get the clips together well enough that the round hole in the shelf can slide down over the clip at least partway. I’m fairly sure the shelves are meant to slide over the clips and not just sit on top of them. Our went about halfway with guidance but not forcing or pounding. The joining process happened better for some clips than for others. A few pairs just didn’t want to fit together, and we generally solved that by just trying a different combo. Think of it as speed dating for plastic clips — most of them have a decent match, but it might not be the match you’re currently trying to pair! Once they were together, the next big step was trying to find the right storage tubs to fit the shelves. I wanted boxes that were big enough to hold most items but small enough that they wouldn’t get heavy. We set up our shelving unit so that there are 3 tiers of 15” shelves and then a larger level on the bottom. With that setup, I found that Sterilite 15 Quart Latching Stirage Boxes are a *perfect* fit. They fit six to a shelf, three across and two up. They do stick out just slightly past the shelves, but not so much that it looks wrong or would cause any inconvenience. See photo for reference. Overall, highly recommended. For the price, these are reasonably heavyweight shelves and they look really nice.

Perfect Packaging, Perfect Asembly, Perfect Shelves!
First if all, I bought and paid full price for these shelves. No freebies to me, unfortunately! You can read thru the reviews, like I did...but, trust me, just order these shelves. There is a lot of silliness about bad instructions, pieces that don't work, etc. Not true! None of it could have been better! And to be totally clear, I am a 70 year old woman and it took me about 20 minutes to assemble! Here us what I wish I had known: -First of all, I would like to say the packaging was the easiest thing in the world to open, and that can be an issue to older folks! The box was one slash down the tape, and it just unfolded itself around the stack parts. Each part is wrapped, but in cellophane that you can just easily open with your fingers, no scissors necessary! The ends were protected in foam wrap, but again, no tape or anything hard to get off. - I had one moment of panic, because there a black caps sitting in each post hole, they were kind of all over the box once I opened it, and I was short 1. I was so upset because I was "missing a part already", but in reading the instructions, I saw they were throw away parts, just on the box for shipping protection. I don't think they were a necessary item for protection, but that's just my opinion. -The instructions are easy to read PICTURES, so self explanatory, the only way you could not understand them is if you think to hard....they are simple. - The most questionable part, is the snap on plastic "tube" that clasps on to the support pole and holds up the shelf. It fits together and snaps into place when you have it lined up with a groove on the pole. The picture shows exactly how to do it, and you just count grooves so that all 4 are at the same position. Make sure you skip the double groove. Once you realize they do not have to be snapped on with tight seams, you will see how easy it is. The next step slides the chrome shelf hole right down on top of it, so it can't come undone! - Once put together they are sturdy, and just perfect for what I needed. The price is great, and the put together is simple enough for an old girl like me...Buy them, you won't regret it!!!
