Tamiya Lunch Box 2005 RC Kit Car - 1:12 - Model 58347

This is my first ever rc car and I have really enjoyed building it. For anyone who is wondering this comes as a complete build it yourself kit, it does not take long to build as I built it in around 4 nights and I wasn't rushing and I am a complete novice. In addition to buying this kit you will also need to buy a transmitter, receiver, servo, esc, battery and battery charger. All this came to just short of the cost of the car again, I think it was about £155 all in. There are also various parts available to upgrade the car, you can buy new bearings, suspension, motors etc. So you should get plenty of use out of this thing. The car itself goes really quickly and the kids and I have enjoyed thrashing it around the woods. Highly recommended

I got this item yesturday, I opened it only to find that it doesnt come with controller, car charger or battery pack.(I realised after buying it says in the ad that you need this but i never saw it!) So only buy if your willing to pay almost the same amount of money again to buy charger, controller etc. Also the instructions to build it are VERY long and complicate!!! But other than that I am sure its a good car. i ment to rated durability 3 star by mistake, i dont have a clue how reliable it is cos i sent it back.

Arrived a few days earlier than expected, also included the esc, some I'm happy.

Great fun was had building this remote control car. Good quality, instructions are limited to pictures only but we only found one section a little confusing.

It was worth every penny. It was my partners first time at building a remote control car and it wont be the last.

Einige Jahre nach meinem ersten Tamiya-Bausatz habe ich mir aus Bastellust die Lunch Box bestellt. Schon geraume Zeit habe ich mit diesem Modell geliebäugelt, kannte ich den orginal Bausatz aus Spielwaren-Katalogen der 80er Jahre aus meiner Kindheit. Die Box war innerhalb von zwei Nachmittagen aufgebaut - beeilt habe ich mich hierbei nicht. Der Aufbau war gut machbar und nicht kompliziert. Jedoch sollte man sich vorher in aller Ruhe einmal durch die Anleitung arbeiten vor dem Start, um Unklarheiten während des Baus zu vermeiden. Als Werkzeug werden eigentlich nur ein Kreuzschraubendreher und eine Zange benötigt. Weiterhin ggfs. noch eine Feile. Ein kleiner Inbus und ein kleiner Schraubenschlüssel für die verwendeten Inbusschrauben und Muttern liegen dem Bausatz bei, ebenso wie eine kleine Tube Schmiermittel. Die Lackierarbeiten mit der empfohlenen Tamiya-Sprühfarbe war ebenfalls unproblematisch. Es handelt sich hier um einen weißen ABS-Kunsstoff, der im Gegensatz zu den verbreiteten, klaren Lexanbodies von außen lackiert wird. Nach der ersten Probefahrt (im großen Garten, auf feuchtem Gras), teils mit Vollgas und auch kleineren Sprüngen würde ich nach meiner Erfahrung raten, einige Schrauben mit Paste (zB. Loctite o.Ä.) zu sichern (aber nicht zu fest, damit man sie später ggfs. noch gut lösen kann). Im Besonderen wäre das im gesamten Bereich der Lenkung und die Schraube, die das metallene Motorritzel sichert. Diese haben sich während der ersten Fahrt bei mir durch die Vibrationen gelöst und irgendwann die Weiterfahrt verhindert. Empfehlen würde ich auch direkt den Einbau von Kugellagern statt der im Baukasten enthaltenen Plastikgleitlagern (Carson 904025, sind alle passenden Lager in passender Anzahl enthalten; um die 10 Euro extra). Diese sind sehr lästig nachzurüsten und die Kugellager verlängern auch die Fahrzeit. Das Fahrverhalten finde ich angesichts des hohen Schwerpunkts recht gutmütig und spaßig. Als weiteres Zubehör werden zwingend benötigt: - Fernsteuerung - 1 Servo (für die Lenkung) - 1 Empfänger (meist bei der Fernsteuerung enthalten) - 7,2 V Akku-Pack (am besten über 3000mAh, sonst ist die Fahrzeit arg kurz) mit passendem Ladegerät

I've wanted one since the 1980's and finally got one to build with my son. Some aftermarket parts help with stability and it is only 2WD, but it is FUN. Good value for the money. Assembly wasn't hard. The main thing is you might need to watch some supplemental videos on YouTube to help you work out some things that aren't always 100% clear from the directions. It helps to carefully look at the instructions as important details and guides are sometimes found in the notes on the sides. It is durable. The parts are high quality for being mostly plastic. You can upgrade as you need to. I'd recommend buying well machined, aluminum aftermarket shocks. Make sure the ones you buy are known not to leak. And remember, this isn't supposed to be for hardcore racing or competition. This thing is supposed to be a bouncy, fun monster truck with some pizzazz.

Had some initial misunderstanding on the listing and what was eventually delivered ... seller resolved the issue for me quickly and I'm left with only good things to say. Delivery, resolution, AND a replacement arrived WELL before the original shipping estimate, too. 10/10!
