My neighbor was ripping his catheter out and causing damage. We had to watch him every second. They have netting on the palms so their hands can breathe. But they have a hard blue backing. At first he was able to open the Velcro with his teeth but we put a little duct tape over the Velcro. At nap time he was constantly trying to pull out his catheter. I was so upset last time he did this that I was up until 4:00 in the morning on the internet searching for a solution. Ripping out ones catheter can cause irreparable damage. These mitts have completely solved the problem! It is also important to put their pants on backwards so that they cannot open the snap or tie. No joke.. these work. we have not had an issue during the night since we started using this product. We only use it when he sleeps at night. These have been a blessing for us..
