Hi my sons guitar teacher said I should be looking for this make of string for him but should get 8 gauge strings. would these be the right ones?

Hi Mrs C, If your son is just begining i would suspect this is to get his finders use to the string thus making it easier for him to play single notes and will allow him to play chords without excerting to much presure on his fingers puching the strings down on the fret board. A good idea in fact! The D'Addario EX110-3D are gauge 10's and therefore heavier in thinkness. You can always tell by the sizes written on the side of the box eg 10, 13, 17, 26, 31, 46..most peoplewill call these 10 gauge as they start with the smallest string being a 10"Hope this answers your questionR

Hi to be honest I don't know. However, I did find all strings to have at least 12" (30cm) length more than needed for a standard sized 12 string guitar. Excellent quality and for the price I would "suggest" worth a punt. Cheers now ...

What size would you guys reccommend for a floyd rose bridge? The mediums seem to have too much tension, but the medium lights are too bright...

10's are a great standard if you want a little extra stability and power at standard tuning or Eb. If you prefer bends, or have a light touch, 9's are the way to go. And as suggested in a previous post hybrid gauges should provide the best of both!Setup adjustment is usually required when changing string tension on a floyd rose trem, if you find the bridge is lifting, adjust the springs on the rear of the guitar to compensate and retune. Hi, are these suitable for a lap steel build? Making one for my son and know very little about guitars. If not can you recommend something. Thanks

I play conventional electric and acoustic/electric guitars (including slide playing), but not a lap steel, so I'm not ideally placed to advise. However, I can strongly recommend D'Addario strings as I've used them for many years with total satisfaction, but I'd suggest you do an internet search for advice on stringing i.e., which gauge will suit your son best, then check out D'Addario for a match on Amazon. D'Addario have a range of at least 4 different gauges for pedal steel.

The perfect strings for me

Fantastic strings, conveniently delivered. I find D'Addario to be miles better then the other big name competitors. EB's tend to tarnish really quickly for me (maybe something to do with my sweat composition) but these things last forever.

I refuse to use any other strings for electric guitars

I have been using D'Addario strings for electric guitar from early 1990s. I have found them to be the best value for money of all manufacturers that I have tried. They stay break-in relatively quickly, stay in-tune, intonation is consistent between sets, never rust, sound consistent for life of string, last longest of any string I have tried, never snap during tuning until end of life.

A bit tingy

Nice cheap strings for the chord players. Robust and hold the tuning well. A bit tingy or twangy for lead guitar. This can be compensated for wit pedals and PA settings

Used 100s, only had one dud string ever.

Ten years of guitar and setups, hundreds of packs, broke one high e in all that time. Sound and feel great, last quite well, and the daddario points are a great bonus if you buy a few. No brainer at the price.
