Zoo Med Forest Floor Bedding, 8.8 Litre

For many years I have been using coconut coir as a substrate for our Russian tortoise. Whilst he loved it the downside is that over time it becomes very powdery. Ok you can mist it with water but under the heat lamp it soon dries out in a few hours. I found that the coconut powder sticks to his food but worst of all it creates plumes of dust that cover every surface in the room. I literally had to wipe every surface on a daily basis. So I decided to give this Zoo Med Forest Floor Bedding a try. At first he did not like walking on it as it must feel different to the coconut shells but soon he got used to it. I have been using it for about two months and the dust has been substantially reduced and it does not stick to his food so easily. My Russian tortoise doses not need a high humidity so misting it is not needed to be done very often but when I have then I have found it retains moisture well. Again holding some moisture reduces the dust generated. So overall I am happy using it and have already ordered a second bag of Zoo Med Forest Floor Bedding.

Seems good product, but very wet. I need to dry first to get humidity 60 percent

Really great. No dust no smell and keeps humidity over 70% with light misting every few days. Best substrate I've had in years. 1 bag covered a 3ftx1ft viv with a 3 inch depth and still 1/3 bag left

Been using this for my cornsnake for years and have not had any problems with it. Low in dust (but not dust free), quick to dry out but also holds humidity well if required
