Great diagnostic tool from a brand leader, worth the extra money!!
Fantastic diagnostic tool, found my two faults within seconds of plugging in. Very easy to use, its worth spending a little extra and buying a 'manufacturer specific' tool, which this is, it simply reads the VIN number when pugged in and knows exactly what model of car it's interfacing with. The benefit of this is it not only comes up with the error code, but gives a brief description of the fault on the display so you don't have to look up the fault. The tool will also allow you to turn off the fault light, remmeber the fault is still present and will need fixing, the handset will also check your emissions and carry out a full diagnostic check on the vehicle. It's very simple to use and has just three buttons; I/M, enter/exit & scroll. It has a colour display which is very easy to read and legiable. Autel is a market leader in diagnostics and some of their tools cost thousands and are used by professional mechanics. Highly recommended and worth the extra money!!

Good product for the price.
Good quality product for identifying both generic and manufacturer fault codes via the OBD2 port for diagnosing most vehicle issues.

Simple and straight forward
Usually have to pay 20 quid to get a code read at the garage thought I'd pay once and get a simple reader. Played nice with Mercedes and cleared the code I was getting. Good detail on the code as well. Useful little thing.

Small handy basic code reader with live data function
This OBD 2 reader does what it stated on the tin and a good price for what it does. Note some mechanical knowledge is needed to understand what DTCs it can be read and what a DTC means, This will not fix the car for you or supply every DTC that may be logged in the vehicle, this mainly reads DTC from the main engine ECU (emission related) I've Used the tool on many vehicles petrol and Diesels Reads DTCs and show live data what can be used to assist with diagnostics This is a handy small unit ideal for mobile basic use.

The most vital accessory available - and it's amazing value!
I ordered the Autolink AL319 from Amazon when I was pestered by the engine malfunction light on my 2002 Mercedes C32 AMG. The Autel reader immediately identified the stored fault code as an occasional ignition misfire and the code told me exactly which cylinder to look at. It also provided me with a snapshot view of the engine's many sensors, stored at the moment the fault code was generated. The problem was quickly despatched and the MIL (engine warning light) reset very easily. Other than my investment in Autel the cost was zero, the total cost being somewhat less than a dealership might have charged just to read the fault code. And I still have my Autel for routine check-ups and future fault diagnosis. Subsequently the device has identified a failure of the chargecooler circulation pump by alerting me to an extraordinarily high intake temperature. The absence of proper coolant circulation through the intercooler and heat exchanger produces potentially damaging intake air temperatures. This is quite a common failure in supercharged AMG cars of a certain age (mine has covered 90,000 miles) but strangely doesn't produce an ECM fault code nor does it light the engine malfunction lamp until the inlet temperature is so severely high that the ECM disables the supercharger, engaging limp-home mode. Such temperatures can cause intercooler failure, allowing coolant to enter the engine. The resulting hydraulic effect in the cylinders (water and anti-freeze refuse to be compressed) guarantees a totally wrecked engine. Many owners are driving their cars around blissfully unaware of the pump failure and the resulting danger, the only route to a safe early warning is to read the inlet air temperature the moment it is felt that performance isn't what it should be. Used routinely the Autel is a very economical safeguard! Anyone with a supercharged or turbocharged engine with intercooler and/or chargecooler who suspects that full-on acceleration performance isn't quite what it should be should be plugging-in an Autel reader to identify the Inlet Air Temperature and possibly the 'manifold absolute pressure' while driving. And anyone who owns a supercharged AMG engine should view the Autel as the most vital accessory they'll ever add to their fine motor car. Mine has already paid for itself several times over - and if you contemplate the cost of a replacement 3.2 V6 supercharged AMG hand-built engine... phew, what phenomenal value for money!

Fine, with major limitations and minor irritations
The device does its basic job of reading engine error codes, but with an annoying limitation: For me, the most stringent limitation was the restriction of the built-in manufacturer-specific codes to vehicle models sold in the US, meaning the complete absence of any Peugeot (my car), Citroën and many others. Once you have set the manufacturer to "other", all you get are the "raw" codes, with no description and no option anywhere ever again to set up the vehicle make other than a factory reset. I never seem to get any "Freeze Frame" data other than the code itself. I know that this is not a problem with the car's ECU, because I got such data from my garage before. I find it irritating that the tool appears to fail once you go back to the top-level menu and try to select another function. It will try to re-establish connection with the car, and give a "Vehicle Linking Error". Only disconnecting and reconnecting it will help at this stage, In general, linking to the car seems a fraught process. I found that it works most reliable when plugging in the device with the ignition off, then selecting one of the functions "OBDII/EOBD" or "Ready Test" and only then, after the linking process has begun, turning on the ignition, but not starting the engine.

Code reader
Simple code reader. Worked for me as it pointed me in the right direction to look. Good value but don't waste your time trying to register it. I contacted the company & they don't do it online or at all! Time wasted.
