I have a desktop running windows 10 and a new macbook air. i need something to switch screens if that makes sense. i use sharemouse which works fine

Hi Am running windows 8.1 and Linux on two separate machines and using an Aten 2 port usb KVM switchso you use one mouse and one keyboard and can switch from one computer to the otherr .Will not work with wireless keyboard or mouse.Also only uses VGA connections ..If you look it up will see whats required.It has performed faultlessly for meDave

I'm not a techie but I two desk top computers, one screen, one keyboard and usb for wire free mouse. I move from one computer to the other using the button and use the same keyboard and mouse automatically. Hope this helps.

Can this be used to merge two monitors with one PC?

I wouldn't think so. It is designed to connect one mouse/keyboard/monitor to one of 2 PCs and not one PC to 2 monitors. Even if the switch did work in reverse, I would expect that the PC output would only be displayed on whichever monitor is selected - the other would be blank.

What is the length of the wire on both side? I need more than 2 meters on both sides to the computers.

I never checked exactly but am pretty sure that it is less than 2 meters.. possibly close to 1m either side at best.
