This is a very good book full of very good deserts. It will take more time to make one one these than an English rice pudding or rhubarb crumble but the final result will be just as tasty. More upmarket and more likely to impress your guesses if that is your aim.

There are lots of photos and easy to read recipes.

Another book in Michel Rouxs' excellent series. The book is divided into types of dessert e.g souffles, mousses, bavarois etc and there are general guidelines set out for each type of dessert, accompanied by super step by step photos. These are then followed by some fantastic recipes. A must have for trainee pastry chefs and enthusiastic amateurs alike.

This is a book of classic desserts. This is all about proper cooking&baking, perfect flavors and clean presentation, not about impressive designs and pretensions innovations. 100% reliable recipes! Detailed instructions are very useful and easy to follow.

Buying one copy as a birthday gift, I could not resist one for myself too, as the recipes and photos are so tempting. An impressive book for the price -even if some of the desserts are too ambitious for me. The author is, of course, NOT the Michel Roux(Jnr) of many tv cookery programmes ; it is his uncle.

the roux brothers know their techniques. the recipes are perfected. they tend to be a little retrograde considering current dietary knowledge - rich butter, a lot of sugar and white flour recipes. then again, a small slice of gâteau has got to be buttery, fat and sweet. they are indulgences! and good ones, at that. les meilleurs recettes!

This is a beautiful book with great recipes and nice photographs. Chef Michel Roux is one of the best. All of his books are sought after and treasured.
