Stick with these.
They work on our apple tree. Within a day, 4 creepy crawlies caught going up. Also anti ant. However you need to follow the instructions and change as indicated - the “stick” does decline over time and with weathering. Don’t leave gaps between the band and bark - tie as tight as possible.

Works a charm, summary of recurring review topics
With the range of views being expressed in reviews I was a little hesitant tk buy this product, but very glad I did. I thought it would be valuable to others to address a few of the recurring themes in other reviews. Stickiness and ease of application: This product is extraordinarily sticky and this will get all over your hands during application. Gloves are absolutely essential and a second pair of (gloves) hands is extremely helpful. We found one person unfolding the band and wrapping around the tree, with another person cutting to length and securing to be the best process. Included twine The included twine might be usable on large trees, but on my small saplings it was absolutely useless. Chuck it before you start and grab a roll of decent electrical tape. This also helps with knobbly trunks as you can bend the band over the bump and secure it top and bottom. This has closed up all of the little gaps allowing ants under the band. Ants crossing the grease: Yes the ants can still cross the grease, it slows them down a fair bit but they make it across. Regardless of this fact the number of ants above the band has reduced from several dozen per day, to a singular ant in the week since. It is definitely discouraging them from crossing, so serves its purpose quite well. I'd be happy to recommend this product to others with ant problems in fruit trees to be used in conjuction with other pest control measures such as water jetting and manual removal of ants (the sticky gloves after applying are brilliant for picking ants off of the leaves)

Don’t keep it on for an extended period
Good product. Easy to use. ** Don’t leave it on too long ** I made that mistake and the raffia tie started to dig into the bark and has left a constrictive mark in the form of a narrow band as the tree started to put on growth. From memory I’d put it on Dec/Jan and checked it mid spring. Better to keep checking (at least monthly) and reapplying as necessary as the tree puts on new growth. I would use this again but would be inclined to make more frequent checks.

Worked for a short time
We have a lot of black ant nests under the patio and they keep coming back to farm aphids on my potted fruit trees. Neem oil didn’t do much and as many nymphs as I’d wipe off the leaves were quickly replaced by the relentless ants, so I got these to stop the ants coming back. They were fiddly and sticky to tie on (Lakeland sticky stuff remover to the rescue) and I needed more than one barrier per trunk, but I liked that the ants stopped climbing. Unfortunately the relief was fairly short lived. They lasted only one week and I noticed more bumblebees feeding which meant the aphids (and ants!) were back - the grease had dried out in the sun. I’ve put more on but the grease isn’t very evenly distributed so I may need to keep a close eye on it.

Buon prodotto, effettivamente le formiche sono diminuite. Ho messo prima un giro di vasellina attorno all'albero e poi la striscia in modo che le formiche non trovino spazi aperti al di sotto dell'oggetto.

Once installed my plum trees completely turned around. The ants that were farming aphids could no longer access the tree. It took 5 minutes to install.
