Review: Great aquarium heater - I was having problems keeping my new tropical aquarium temperature stable, even though I was using the correct sized heater for my tank. So I did some research into my fluctuating heat problem. I found on the internet that my problem might be caused, by my house being too cold, due to me living in the countryside. It recommended that I used the next sized heater up from mine or to use 2 heaters to stabilize the temperature. Being that my heater I had was a 200 wat I decided to go for a 300 watt heater. My next problem was, which make to go for.. For this again I turned to the internet, on the reviews done on the different makes. I was guided towards the "Fluval E300" by being one of the top recommended by the review web sites. From there I went on the desertcart web site. I checked the customer reviews. They were very mixed, in their opinions. So I was unsure but noticed there was a couple of reviews that stated that if you followed what they had done, all was well & that would rectify those problems the other reviewers were having, while using this item. So it was at this point I ordered it, even though it was quite expensive compared to some others at desertcart. It arrived the next day via desertcart Prime Delivery. I eagerly unpacked it and swapped it over. I followed what some of the other reviewers had stated to do, just so I could get the best out of this heater. 1st; I placed it at a 45° angle in the aquarium, as per the other reviewers advice. 2nd; I made sure it had a good water flow over it 3rd; adjusted the temperature to what I required. Then left it alone to hopefully sort out my heating issues. The next day I went straight to the aquarium, to check the temperature of it, against my other thermostat placed on the opposite side of the aquarium to the heater, I was very skeptical at this point. Well low & behold it was within 0.4°c difference. Since having this "Fluval E300" heater I have checked the temperature on numerous occasions and the temperature hasn't changed, even during the night, when it is at it's lowest room temperature. I would definitely recommend these "Fluval E series" heaters but just be guided by the above advice and other helpful reviews please, and it will be a great product for you, just as it is for me 5++ highly recommended item time has moved on now and at least 6month & still the heater is perfect keeping good temperature

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is the plug a 3 pin or a 2 pin?**
A: Just received my 200W heater with a 2 pin plug. This despite assurances elsewhere in the Q & A lists that all British orders are fulfilled using 3 pin plugs. Amazon, the great misinformation site. Will they replace it with a 3 pin? Should I hold my breath?

**Q: is the 100watt suitable for 140 litre aquarium?**
A: No it isnt, same as other responder says, too low powered for a tank that size, need the 150W, just make sure you have a steady flow of water over the heater, like from a filter outlet, to circulate the water evenly around the tank otherwise it wont work efficiently, and should be ok

**Q: It says an e300 is for tanks up to 375l tanks. has anybody had any experience of this? as i'm looking to put the heater into a 364l tank.**
A: My tank is only 245l but I have found this heater to be the best I've ever bought and it will do what it advertises, the only thing I found was it has to have very good flow next to it. Suzy.

**Q: Is it normal for blue light to be on at night time**
A: no it's not normal for the light to be blue at night blue means the water is too cold green means of water is the right temperature and red means the water is too hot, ideally your temperature should be around 25 degrees that should put it in the green if it's blue on an evening you need to turn your temperature up one degree or whatever it takes to get it within the correct range it should automatically do this if it's not you may have a faulty unit or the tank is to big for the heater

### ⭐ I got the 300 because it is rated for 350 ltr and my tank is 200 so it should easily heat that but it does nothing
*by B***O on 14 March 2016*

Of all the products i have bought on Amazon this has to be the most dissapointing! I have messed with this thing for a day now and after researching on forums and looking at reviews i can no longer risk using this. It is at least 2 degrees out and when the display is blue meaning the temp is too low to the one you have set, it doesn't even attempt to heat up. I got the 300 because it is rated for 350 ltr and my tank is 200 so it should easily heat that but it does nothing. I have moved it to an area of high flow across the sensor and that does nothing. The instructions state it should sit upright with the top sticking out the water (the min water mark on the surface of the water) but fluval technicians on forums are telling people to fully submerse them, put them at an angle, lay them horizontally, switching them on and off and toggle to the min and max setting before starting, all of which i have tried and it still does nothing. I have now got a standard heater that works perfect without any fuss just as this overpriced worthless load of junk should!!! There are plenty of good reviews for this product but there are too many bad ones and at the risk of the health of expensive corals and fish it is not worth it. If you send it back you will still have to go out and buy one to replace it so if it is faulty and you are sent a new one you will still be out of pocket. Not fit for purpose and completely useless!!!!!
