So after seeing an article in a newspaper I discovered the Global Water Sharpener. It came number one out of ten reviewed. Not cheap but what a tool. Sharpened my knives to razor sharpness so I opened the drawer and got out some old blunt knives. After following the procedure a few times they are now sharp again. Simple to use just drawing the knife back and forth, and as the sharpening stones are angled you are always sharpening correctly. Dont hesitate to buy this if you want quality.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How often do the sharpening wheels need replacing?**
A: I've probably had my Global Cermaic Water Sharpener for over a year and although my Global knives don't need sharpening all that ofter the wheels are still in very good working order.  Their replacement probably depends on the amount of time they're being used.  I'm still very happy with my sharpener.

**Q: will this sharpen any knives(except serrated blades) or is it only for global/ other Japanese type knives. or are european knife blades to thick?**
A: This sharpener is designed for Japanese style knives and is also suitable for Robert Welch knives.If you use it for European style knives ie Victorinox, Wusthof, Henckels, Gustav the wheels will wear and need replacing sooner as they sharpen at a different angle.

**Q: Are the wheels meant to turn when you sharpen? Mine are very stiff and stay put?**
A: Yes they should.
Perhaps pop them out and clean the wheels and the holders in case they have become blocked up.

**Q: Can it be used on a regular basis to hone the blade. Will it take a lot of metal off the blade and over time leave you wilth less of a blade**
A: I think it would take a very long time for the metal to wear away and only your great great grandchildren will need to worry about that!
