Fit for purpose, with some modification.
Bought this to retro fit in the ducting of a 12v Manrose bathroom fan which, for some reason and unlike its predecessor, came without a backdraft shutter. As other buyers have mentioned, its a tight fit in 100mm ducting and I had to trim the outer central ridge on the shutter to fit it inside the ducting. Used a very sharp paperhangers knife to shave a millimetre or so from the ridge and it now fits perfectly, held in place, just in case, by a blob or two of silicone. Its working well so far: yes, it clatters when the wind blows but that goes with the territory when, as we do, you live in a windy coastal town. Not sure how long it'll last given the wear that the wind will place on the shutter's basic hinges, but Time will tell. Very easy to retro fit if you have the access, so recommended.

Backdraught shutter that works without springs
I bought this to stop draughts through the extractor duct, which caused the extractor fan to run for an extended period to clear the shower room. Works fine and immediately shows the difference in humidity reduction in the shower room. Only concern is that the build quality isn't great, so when you tighten the clips around the ducts, make sure the flap works freely.

Mediocre manufacturing quality and flap doesn't swing freely
2 main problems: 1. The overall manufacturing quality of the product was not as I would have hoped. The plastic molding is poor with a jagged part jutting out of the flap in an area which could potentially interfere with it's closure. See photo. 2. I found that the flap does not swing freely even before being fitted, and there is some resistance even to gravity. If the product is compressed slightly from the outside then the flap does not swing at all and can be held in an open position. Considering that the movement of the flap will only get worse as the product inevitably collects dust and grime I elected not to fit this product and fitted a competitor product of the same mechanism which seemed immediately better quality and performance. N.B. I did bought a second one of these as I wondered if it was a blip but both were the same and were returned.

With modifications it's perfect
If you use this at time of install then the external raised ridge helps you fit one pipe up to the other, with this 'connector' with the backdraught stopper in it. HOWEVER, If you are retro fitting this inside an existing piece of pipe/ducting then the ridge will not allow it to slide snugly inside. NO WORRIES just get your stanley knife to carve it off as I have done with mine and sand it smooth if you like, like I have. TO STOP THE CLATTERING TAPPING BANGING NOISE of plastic-against-plastic, as the wind slams it open-and-shut get yourself a piece of felt or such-like firm-ish non organic fabric (so it dunt rot or get bacteria and mould in it) and draw a chalk mark around for the semi-circle using this connector as a template, where you will cut inside the mark you've made. Then, using double-sided tape, cover your semi-circle fabric in this tape (I used carpet tape, wide and strong. Then cut the excess tape off and make sure the size fits the flap right to the edge. This is so that when the flap hits the ridge to stop the wind/backdraft/cold howling gales coming into your house it won't make a godforsaken noise that drives you more insane than the cold. I've done this today and it took less than 10mins once I'd gathered all the materials. THE FLAP NEEDS TO BE FLIMSY/RUBBISH (quoting others on here) because it has to be able to move easily to let your extracted steam out with your fan, if it wasn't flimsy it wouldn't work, so be gentle with it. Anyway, I'm happy, hope you're happy too-oo-oo

.Really poor quality, did not swing without physical force, then stayed where I pushed it!
Standard plastic fitting. Nothing to shout about. Not flimsy or robust. Just plastic. Did not bother to try fit it so I cannot rate how easy it fits inside a 100mm pipe. The build quality is so poor the flap would not move without physical intervention. I had to push the flap open with fingers. Once opened it stays open. Does not do what it should and fall back to a closed position under gravity. It was never going to swing with the fan on and off. The inner divide is also off, with the top part and one of the quarters of the bottom half not being aligned. That misalignment might be the root cause, of it sticking but if it was it was not obvious and couldn't be bothered to waste time with it. Sending it back. As an aside note, Amazon packaging on this was terrible. Forced into a book sleeve, no protection, so I was surprised it arrived in one piece.

Needed a little fettling, but should work well now
As received, the flap would occasionally stick, probably due to some flash from the moulding near the pivot. After a little bit of moving it around, the problem seems to be solved and I think this will work well and be a good product.

Made of thin abs plastic. I thought they would be more durable for the price. If I didn't need them I would have returned them.
