Bonsai

Most books on bonsai in the English language have been written by authors that have had little or no formal training in the art. Finally a book by someone who knows what he talking about. Although this book is aimed at people new to bonsai, it also has enough in it to interest a seasoned bonsai grower whilst correcting mis-information from earlier publications. The techniques shown are clear and concise, the photography is what you would expect from a DK book and the writing style is detailed without being overly heavy and complicated. The tree material used in the "creating your own bonsai" section is readily available to all and although relatively low budget, the techniques are readily transferable to more complicated trees. Bonsai are not created from advanced, fancy techniques but good techniques honestly, thoughtfully and timely applied and this book has this in spades. I hope this book inspires all that look through its pages and turn them on to the enjoyment of bonsai.

As always DK have produced a really nice and interesting reference book. This book is very well laid out and easy to follow. The presentation and layout makes it an easy read which most reference books are not. Contains all the information you need to start growing and looking after bonsai plants and some information on more advanced techniques and species as well. The part covering the history of bonsai is particularly interesting. Would definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in reading about or getting started with bonsai.

I bought this book for my son who has several bonsais and is keen to start grafting his own. this book is a great starting point with lots of detailed, easy to follow information on the subject. Also nicely laid out with sections on species and pruning styles.

Im a new Bonsaier. This book is fantastic. The imagery is really crisp and clear and the ranger of topics is very thorough. The pictures are really great for inspiration and help to illustrate the detailed instructions. I have actually just bought another copy for a friend for Christmas.

The book contains all of the essential information a beginner needs and it is provided in very accessible way. The high quality photos make the book very useful. The hard cover and high quality paper give the book quite a luxurious feel and is an excellent gift for anybody with a green thumb.

A well written book with clear instruction and with good pictures showing the result of the instruction given. Would recommend those new to bonsai as a first purchase to give inspiration.

Will buy again but because is 'comprehensive' there is no detail info about topics, in particular fertilizers.

Very good easy book to understand for beginners right thru to the pros, this book has got it all.

Great book with excellent images which are all important in studying bonsai technics. It has a nice overview of the attributes of various varieties of bonsai, which I need to chose the right one for me.

Really well written with super photographs - was recommended by the premier Bonsai Museum in Tokyo, so if it's good enough for them ??? A 'must buy' for any Bonsai enthusiast !
