Almost perfect wood dye
I bought this after trying several other brands, none of which gave satisfactory results. To my surprise, this turned out to be the perfect dye. It’s easy to apply and gives pine a warm, golden, slightly dark oak finish. Impressively, it doesn’t raise the grain, so there’s no real need to sand the surface after application. It transforms ordinary pine into something that looks far more expensive. You can use it directly without a pre-treatment, which results in a darker shade. If applied after a pre-stain conditioner, it produces a lighter oak tone. I’m genuinely impressed and will be using this for my upcoming projects.

Good stuff
So I made a table using untreated softwood planks. Sanded down with 120grit paper. To apply the stain I used a lint free cloth, pouring the stain directly from the can onto the cloth and spread it in the direction of the grain, trying to apply equal amounts. Once the first coat was on, I left it to dry for 8 hours. It lifts the grain slightly(feels rough) so I lightly sanded the surfaces with 240grit paper until it all felt smooth. I then applied a second coat using the same method with the same cloth. Again I left it for 8 hours. To seal it I used OSMO worktop oil, as I had this spare from doing some oak worktops. I gave it two coats of OSMO oil, again using the cloth method and the final picture shows how it turned out. As you can see, the Oil really bought the colour to life and gives a solid water beading surface. One thing I would say is that all wood reacts differently to the stains. One piece of softwood may not stain the same colour as another piece of softwood, so always do a tester on the underneath. Another tip is wear gloves when using the stain, I’m glad I did.

Very good but you will need to ventilate
I applied this to my wood dining table that was already oil treated. It went on like a dream and 1 coat used around a 3rd of the product. Before I applied a 2nd coat, I could see the colour was rubbing off in patches, so it will require a sealant. The colour is darker than three image shown but it really suits. The only reason I have given this 4 and not 5 stars is the smell which reminded me of a nail bar! Overall happy with this dye

Beautiful natural looking wood, great surface
This dye/stain goes on super easily and provides a lovely natural look to the wood grain. I have applied using a brush then wiping off and with a lint cloth. Both methods work well. For the colour I require, I have put 2 coats on - I am applying it to soft wood (pine) skirting and staircase. The effect is very pleasing and I would use again. No long lasting smell nor oily finish. So much better than the DIY store stains/paints. The picture shows the natural pine of the skirting phased in with one coat of Light Oak in the middle and two coats of Justin's on the left hand side. I have opted for 2 coats for a slightly darker look. I like it so much I am using it on chairs and stools around the home to co-ordinate.

Good
Applies well with a cloth. Used on pine slabs and came out brown, with no orange tones, which was good. Wouldn’t exactly call it light oak, but it’s a decent enough finish and doesn’t raise the grain

Clean brushes in water
I bought this to use on miniature furniture The wood dye goes on easily and smoothly and I found there was only light sanding required between coats The only downside is the smell which Is much stronger than the ~Lightfair dye I have been using. It is suggested to use in a well ventilated room. I like the effect of this dye on bamboo which gives a patchy effect that looks quite pleasant On simple softwoods and on Obeche, this dye looks very even and smooth. Brushes can be cleaned in water Recommended
