Move the reset button and set your code, then move the button back and it's done. Close the lid and check it opens when pressing the side buttons before mixing up the numbers else you'll have a real problem. And keep a record of the new number.. **Q: Does this lock have a default combination 0000? Mine won't open.** A: This is not the code. When you bought the key safe and turned it over in its original plastic packaging there was a depression in the back covered by a plastic film. If you removed this the code was underneath or on a small leaflet inside the depression. Hopefully you still have the packaging and leaflet. Once you have opened the safe you can change the code yourself very simply...instructions are in the leaflet. **Q: how do you set the combination?** A: When you have the door open, on the inside of the door by the side of where the barrel is there is a small silver lever. You put the lever to the set position (which is marked) and turn the combination to what you want and then move the lever back. That is your new combination (be careful!!!). The original combination is on the packaging, which you have to use to open it the first time to get to the set lever. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best I've seen *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 29 March 2024* Many key safes are functional but, if you really value security, aren't really up to it. I'm not saying the YouTube videos about easily bypassing the combination applies to all devices, but I have seen it done and that's enough to be a worry. The Master Lock is a massive step up in terms of build quality, and offers a lot more in the way of reassurance that it won't give up its secrets easily. It is satisfyingly weighty, and the combination keys feel very solid. Changing the combination is a simple affair, and the drop down cover adds a lot of weather protection.Because of the weight, I used lightning masonry bolts to fix it to the wall, and it is genuinely going nowhere. I'm more than happy with paying just a bit more for a lot of extra key safe.I have just one criticism, it's the lack of a key hook inside. You'd think putting one in would be a no brainer, but so few manufacturers actually do so. But that doesn't take away from just how good the Master Lock is. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 1 June 2012* I ordered this after getting locked out of my house when the wind blew my door shut behind my back whilst just standing on doorstep!!! Nightmare it was in the heat last week 27 degrees marvellous. Took me three hours to get in!!... Plus in the meantime my neighbour but one was talking to me with her three year old on the door step and same gust of wind slammed her door shut with her daughters fingers in the frame!!! OUCH awful I had to rush to the rescue ran round ( she had left her back door open thank god) poor little mites hand was flat like a cartoon we run it under the tap then she was whisked off to hospital, luckily badly crushed bruised and sore but not broken. With all this hulabaloo fresh in my mind I researched around and some of these key locks are over priced really expensive and also they allow people to suss out the number sequence SO BEWARE WHEN CONSIDERING read up about the one you choose. this one however is a really good price and a solid bit of kit, Size just right and door movement easy, keys of all sizes fit, and to put up on the wall was a dream with the metal template provided.. The only problem we had was getting it out of the cardboard backing it came on lol!!! As all the instructions are inside the key safe and the universal code is hidden under all the packaging which you need to release the key lock from the rest of packing...The number dials are excellent and there's no way it gives away your chosen combo of numbers( others as I've said before click when the chosen combos are one number away!! Not good) we've placed it behind our drainpipe ( can't be seen) behind iron locking side gates( but enough room to reach the lock through bars and retrieve a key should the need ever arise again ) phew I feel so much better now and so is the little girls hand :-) buy it and have peace of mind. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing! *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 26 May 2026* We've now had this for 10 years! Yes 10 years in England outside, in the rain. Still works perfectly! ## Frequently Bought Together - MASTER LOCK Certified Key Safe Wall Mounted, Medium 105 x 132 x 43 mm, Outdoor, Mounting Kit, for Home Office Industries Vehicles - MASTER LOCK Key Safe Wall Mounted, Medium 85 x 119 x 36 mm, Outdoor, Mounting Kit, for Home Office Industries Vehicles, Black & Silver - MASTER LOCK Wall Mounted Light Up Dial Key Safe, Medium 72 x 126 x 52 mm, Outdoor, Mounting Kit, for Home Office Industries Vehicles --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.mx/products/48535243-master-lock-certified-key-safe-wall-mounted-medium-outdoor-cnpp](https://www.desertcart.mx/products/48535243-master-lock-certified-key-safe-wall-mounted-medium-outdoor-cnpp) --- *Product available on Desertcart Mexico* *Store origin: MX* *Last updated: 2026-10-23*
