Brita Grand Water Filter Pitcher, Violet, 10 Cup

OK, I’m not afraid to admit upfront that I never was a fan of water. I don’t think I ever really drank it much even growing up. It always had to have some kind of flavoring, or fizziness – – – something more than just water (I was raised in the 50s and 60s when Kool-Aid was the only thing flowing in most homes with kids).Even opening up the small bottles I had to reach for those little packets of Crystal light before taking even a sip.And the home delivered bottled stuff really wasn’t that exciting to me although I did find myself maybe drinking a little more. The water where I live tastes like a mouthful of chemicals. It really is bad tasting stuff. I’ve tried to ignore it all these years. Some friends had mentioned Brita over the years but I always thought it was one of those elitist indulgences for those who were hip and cool . But I broke down and bought one. Even then I kept it aside for a while. Finally figured out how to fill it without it running all over everywhere and let it sit in the refrigerator for a month or two. One day I thought I would try it (mostly because I got tired of it taking up room in my refrigerator ). WoW! This is really good stuff (and remember, this had been sitting in my refrigerator for a while and it had picked up none of that refrigerator taste!). The day when I crave water is the day I thought never would come. I really am surprised. There is absolutely no aftertaste. Amazing. Even the bottled waters each have their own distinct little flavor. This has nothing but the taste of clear spring water—I mean like straight from the snowpack spring water. I have been reading some of the reviews, and don’t seem to have run into the same issues as many others have. As a newbie to Britta, it did take me a while to figure out quite how to do it. Realized that if you fill the top slowly and don’t let it fill beyond the lid line that there is no spillage problem. As I have no other experience with any other Britta product, I really have no comparison. The pitcher was a little bigger than I had anticipated, but now find that I use it quickly as I drink more water now that it tastes so much better, But it also makes things like tea and coffee taste great. Even my Lab, Buck, has gotten into the act. He can’t get enough of the ice cold water right out of the refrigerator, lapping it up at a rapid pace. I have even bought myself a giant insulated bottle so that I can carry the cold water around with me all day. And never once have I been tempted to dump any Crystal light into it. Don’t know what I’m going to do with all those little packets... A friend of mine was complaining recently about having to recycle all of her little water bottles – – especially because she had so many since she has retired and is around the house all day. I found myself purchasing one of these for her. Whoever would have thought…. I highly recommend it to not only those who already drink water, but to those who have never thought about drinking water on a regular basis. Great stuff!

I have had my pitcher for a few weeks now and I love it. I'm so glad I ignored the reviews about the lid falling off and listened to the one reviewer who said that if you don't try and hold the lid on it won't fall off. I have had no problems at all with the lid falling off except the one time I did try and hold it on then it did come loose and was falling off. So, just a hint here that it may seem it's going to fall off when you start to pour but it won't and if you push on the lid while pouring it will dislodge it from the pitcher and fall off. It does take almost an hour (I timed myself) to get the pitcher ready to use. It does take a little time for the water you pour into the top to go through the filter but this is perfectly normal and you want this because it means the filter is doing its job of grabbing all of that stuff you don't want to be drinking in your water. I did fill my pitcher up 3 times and dumped that water out without drinking any of it per instructions. The first two times I saw a scant amount of black stuff that came from the filter, which is completely normal. It takes probably 3-5 minutes now for me to pour water into the top and have it go thru the filter to fill my pitcher up to the full 10 cup capacity. Some here said that they were disappointed that it took so long but here again you want this to happen because it means the filter is doing its job. I haven't liked drinking our water even though we use a filter for the water we get out of our frig. I have been purchasing bottled water for almost 3 years and hated all the trash of those bottles plus the added expense. Since getting my pitcher I have loved drinking our water now, I could not believe the difference it made in the taste. I fill my pitcher with the water that comes out of our kitchen faucet and it tastes better than the filtered water that we get from our frig. We are going to invest in a second pitcher because there are 6 of us that live here and we love ice cold water and having just one pitcher in the frig isn't enough for us. Also, the 3 pack of filters Amazon sells to go in the pitcher is the better buy than the 5 or 6 pack and my husband told me that they are cheaper here than at Walmart.

This is a BIG pitcher, this thing is for you guzzlers out there who want a lot of water at once but without using a faucet filter that can detach, be messy, and ultimately be expensive. The Brita Grand in Purple is a perfect color for someone with Rett syndrome who wants to have a pitcher that really calls attention to its self on the table or in the fridge. You know where the water is always and you can get water filtered pretty quick through this pitcher. a full 80 ounces takes about 2-3 minutes depending on the condition of your filter. The only down side to this pitcher is that not only one fill of the reservoir will fill it, thats how big it is... that makes it a guessing game as to how many reservoir fulls it will take to fill this beast. It can overflow if you overfill so word of advice: underfill it.. you can always add more but if you overflow you got a messy situation to deal with.

Was tired of constantly refilling my smaller and slimmer Brita pitcher so I ordered the Grand, in violet, since I have the room in my refrigerator. Have to admit that the lid on my slimmer Brita pitcher fit snug (the lid covered only the filtering reservoir) and had to be completely removed for filling. There is wiggle room with the Grand's lid as it extends to the top of the handle and does not "snap" into place. I've not had any water spills but I tend to keep the pitcher pretty much filled all the time. TBH, I'm not crazy about the whole "trap door" to refill the reservoir as I find myself, instead of just popping off the lid and pouring water directly into the reservoir, filling a measuring cup from the tap and then filling the reservoir. The amount of time necessary for the water to filter through? No big deal. The "electronic reminder?" It is kinda silly and I still have the plastic reminder from my previous pitcher on my refrigerator door because I'll probably ignore the electronic reminder as often as the plastic. Heavier? Yes, because it holds more water, and I can see why some would have a problem with that. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, and did I mention the Brita Grand is available in violet? 01/08/19 Update: Have had some recent issues concerning replacement "compatible" Brita filters and my Brita Grand Pitcher. Issues as in the replacement filters weren't "compatible." Checking an old filter to a new one it was clear there has been a design change. Checking my old reservoir to the new Brita Grand reservoir I just received and there has been a very slight design to where the filter sits. Kinda silly, IMO, that something without any real working parts would be redesigned in such a minor way but such is life. The new pitcher (purchased from Amazon) runs around $15 with a filter included, the filter fits like a charm (plus I've seen no carbon specks...yet), doesn't require the previous 15 minute soak, AND I can go back to my Brita filtered water vs buying spring. It's the simple things in life, ya :) know.

Great tasting water, and less time processing gallons a day. Is why I bought this in the first place. We now love the taste of our hard, horrible tasting water. This filter removes a lot of the particles and odor out of our water, so we can enjoy it once again. The only downfall I have is the stupid lid that holds the battery that guesses the months between use. It keeps falling to the floor, so I removed it as we do not need it anyway. It measures the time between pushing the reset button approximately every two months. We process a lot of water, more than the average family, so we measure by gallons approximately 40 gallons per filter, instead of days. The quantity of water, this pitcher holds works out better than my last smaller filter, and the filter part does not fall back into our water. This pitcher has a lip over the filter for better filter placement. We have used a Brita filter for over 4 years now and they do make long lasting, hard working filters.

Love this new water filter pitcher. I bought it for two reasons, first - the name. Who doesn't trust Brita! And secondly because of the color - just look at it! But beyond that, the large capacity is wonderful. It's easy to pour, is designed so you can't get any unfiltered water in your pour spout even if it's still filling, and it has a reminder that tells you when it's time to change the filter. It is easy to disassemble, easy to clean, just easy peasy in every way. Great purchase, and worth every penny!

(TLDR solution to top not fitting at the bottom of review) I took a chance on this, given other reviewers' remarks about the tops not fitting right and the pitcher arriving scuffed, scratched or broken. My luck generally isn't that great and that trend continues; the clear portion of the pitcher had scuffs and scratches on it (though not nearly as badly as some I've seen in other reviews) and I could not get the top to snap back on after I rinsed the filter and washed the pitcher. I would put it on and one corner would pop up, every time I pressed down. Get the popped-up side to finally shut and another corner popped up in its place. I took the whole thing apart and made sure everything was very dry, and tried to figure out WHY this was happening. I could see no structural defects at all and put it all back together again to look it over that way. Still nothing. One thing I'd noticed when taking it all apart the first time, though, was that the inner part of the pitcher (the part that houses the unfiltered water and the filter) was very, very difficult to get out of the clear pitcher base; hard enough that I was afraid I'd break the pitcher trying to get it out. I thought about that for a minute, pulled that part back out and snapped the top onto the insert while it was still out of the clear part of the pitcher. The corner popped up. BUT.. I then put the already-combined top and insert back into the clear reservoir, and voila - the top now fit correctly with no corners popping up at all. Honestly, it really shouldn't be this way. Common sense/everyday use, most people would put that top on as a last step, AFTER the insert is in the base, which makes sense. That it doesn't work that way, or at least for some reason that a decent number of people have to use it in an abnormal manner to get it to work as intended is kind of ridiculous. If I wasn't in immediate need of a new pitcher for work, I would probably send this back based on the shoddy/strange workmanship, buuut I really cannot stand drinking the pool water flavored tap water at work, and I've gotten the top to fit, even if it's a little bit of a hassle to get it to do so, so I'm keeping it. Hopefully this review will help others with their top-popping issues, and maybe they'll be luckier than me and get a picture that isn't banged up. TLDR: The tightness of the clean water reservoir keeps the lid in place, but ONLY if you put the lid on the insert (part that "dirty" water and filter go into) first and THEN insert both into the reservoir.

I really like this pitcher. I had the previous model for years, but the tip covering the water spout always fell off. This one is much nicer. Everything stays in place when I pour. It is easy to fill because you don't have to take the whole lid off. There is a little rubber ball on top of lid near handle where you place your thumb to open just the center of lid for filling. The top has a cartridge replacement indicator. As you are pouring the water, look at the indicator when you are bring the pitcher upright again. The indicator should BRIEFLY blink. You need to be fast to see it. I thought mine was not working at first until I caught a glimpse of it one day. I don't think mine blinks every time, but often enough that I can judge the status of the filter. I think it depends on how you pour and how fast you bring the pitcher upright again. It fits nicely in my large refrigerator because it is more narrow than round.

love this product... we have to use little pieces of tape to hold the top on as all britas it has a design fault. Otherwise love love love that it holds enough water to fill the dog dish and the teapot. With a soft easy grip handle!

Super but because I drink a lot of water I still need to fill it a couple of times a day . Water tastes good meaning there is no taste to the water which is a good thing!!!

Es una muy buena opción para disponer de agua todos los días. Limpia y elimina por completo el sabor a Cloro del agua de la llave (en las ciudades donde el agua es potable como la mía). Este modelo en particular tiene muy buen tamaño por lo que no tienes que estar rellenando la jarra tantas veces. Funciona correctamente y viene con un primer filtro por lo que no es tan caro a la hora de hacer cuentas con lo que te ahorras en agua embotellada. Además tiene un indicador para saber cuando debes cambiar el filtro. La recomiendo completamente, lo único malo que tiene y por lo que no le doy 5 estrellas por las tapas, tanto la de salida de agua como la del repositorio, se tienen que tratar con mucho cuidado para no romperlas o safarlas y en ocasiones se pueden atorar o cerrar mal. Fuera de eso es una excelente alternativa para tener agua disponible siempre y evitar gastar en agua embotellada y generar basura.
