Fabulous, possibly the best sustain pedal I've used
Bought this for a Roland digital piano. One of the 2 great features of the DP-10 is that it support half pedalling. Instead of an on-off switch, there's actually a variable resistor inside the DP-10, meaning the pedal generates a continously variable output. It also means the pedal is silent, no annoying microswitch clicks when you depress it. On the side of the pedal is a switch that selects either switched or continuous mode. There's also a hex screw on the top which I assume is to adjust the travel, but I haven't changed it. The pedal cable is terminated in a stereo 1/4 inch jack plug. I mentioned there were 2 great features. The other is a life saver if you've experienced the joys of chasing a damper pedal around the floor with your foot whilst playing! Attached the bottom of the DP-10 is a hard rubber strip which can be rotated to create a projecting heel rest in front of the pedal. This genius idea ensures the pedal doesn't move on the floor and it works well, especially on carpet. Great quality pedal and recommended for Roland keyboards. However sadly this doesn't work correctly on Nord keyboards as the sustain action is inverted.

Robustly made, works well.
This pedal seems to me very well made. It is robustly built, there is no 'slop' or unwanted movement in the pedal. The twist out foot mat to secure it under your heel is a great idea. And for those more advanced players it has a switch which provides a simple on/off action or a progressive continuous slope up or down as required. I understand this feature only works if your keyboard supports it. Mine is a Roland FP 10 so if you have one of those it will work. I have no idea about the musical features/ quality as I am a complete novice.

Great, got it working as both a...
At first I just thought it would be a sustain pedal then found a switch on the side for full analogue capabilities for how much it is pressed down. So I instantly plugged it into my expression pedal socket on my midi controller (arturia) and it worked great, I actually like that it springs back, but even better with bitwig and I'm sure you can in many various other ways I can just map the expression pedal cc to the sustain cc and it works perfectly without needing to unplug it all the time. Build quality: Feels good, feels sturdy Cable length: Adequate, should be enough for most people, but not all. Would I recommend it? Yes.

Great pedal
This has been a game changer for me, as opposed to the thing that came with my FP 30 x it's really good and well made

Worth it.
If you are debating between this and the cheaper M-Audio SP-2, spend the extra money and get the Roland. I own both, and the difference is night and day. The DP-10 offers resistance that genuinely feels like an acoustic piano. By comparison, the SP-2 feels too firm and toy-like. The continuous detection (half-pedaling) also unlocks the full expression of the piano engine of my Roland FP-30X Digital Piano, the SP-2 is just a binary on/off switch - if you have a digital piano/keyboard which is capable of half pedaling, the DP-10 is a must (FYI there is a switch which lets you toggle between continous and switch mode, so it does work with keyboards that don't support half-pdedaling). The retractable rubber heel plate is a great addition too, it prevents the pedal from sliding away from you while playing - a constant annoyance I had with the SP-2. While the regular price (~£50) is steep, especially compared to the SP-2, the feel and build quality make it worth it. If you find it on sale (as it is during the time of writing), it’s a no-brainer.

Good sustain / damper pedal for electronic keyboards 🎹
The Roland DP-10 is a great sustain / damper pedal for electronic keyboards 🎹 The pedal has a function switch on the side to switch between continuous or switching modes, meaning it could be useful for other situations other than just sustain / damper if required. It doesn’t have a polarity option (unless you wanted to open it up and re-wire it yourself) but most modern keyboards have polarity settings built in. Underneath it has a non slip rubber foot at each end to help stop the pedal from sliding around, and also a rubber plate that rotates out 180 degrees - you place your heel on this while performing and this helps keep the pedal securely in place. The body of the pedal is plastic but it’s very robust and should last many years as long as you are not too careless when handling it - I’ve had my first Roland DP-10 for 20+ years and it’s still going strong! 💪
