Only MASH surpasses it. Fantastic scripts, brilliant actors, and consistently well directed. The main cast has a range of characters so that almost anyone will identify with to some extent, which helps pull you in to the show. The laughs just keep on coming, whether silly sniggers, uproarious guffaws or total bellyaches. Each season or half season tends to have a story arc, with the whole show also having a fantastic level of progression for each of the characters. Personally, I’m a big fan of Frasiers brother Niles. David Hyde Pierce absolutely embodies the character with a set of quirky and nuanced personality traits and physical ticks. I also loved the original Eddie, played by a dog called Moose. Honestly, I’ve never seen an on screen animal character so fanatically characteristic. There are few weak points in the show, just the occasional episodes that some people may not enjoy as much, and this will vary from person to person, but they are few and far between. Given the length of the shows run, this is much better than most shows manage. As far as the technical aspects go, I can now safely give this a 5* rating as they have moved from the original box sets terrible cardboard sleeve implementation, to a conventional multi-disc plastic DVD case, same as the Cheers one. The original cardboard sleeve set left marks on the discs that meant sometimes there was a problem playing the disc. This new version means no issues, every disc played flawlessly. If you have never watched Frasier, or his original home in Cheers, then honestly, I do recommend you try it. I wouldnt recommend trying it on the desertcart Prime Video, the file quality is terrible, but you could try the first episode to see if you like the comedy. Then buy the box set, as once you’ve seen it, you’ll likely want to watch it again and again over the years. Review: Flawless - "Frasier" is a comedy program about a radio-psychiatrist in Seattle, taken from the character of Frasier in "Cheers". A classic program with a great balance of features. It's a clever comedy, but not something you have to be "super-smart" to enjoy (despite what some people think). Some episodes have an element of farse that would rival Fawlty Towers, like "The Ski Lodge" or "Perspectives On Christmas". Others throw the characters into brilliant predicaments, like Frasier and and his brother Niles trying to maintain a new restaurant without a kitchen staff or accidentally getting their father high on pot. The characters are all convincing and funny and really go well together, even when they clash (i.e. the father-son relationship of Frasier/Niles and their dad). The dialogue is superbly clever and funny and is just full of great one-liners as well some really amusing speeches. All of this comes together in a beautiful style that is unique to "Frasier". The box set is also a good buy (at least when I got it at £85). The 11 series are arranged in 4 leafed cases within the box and the dvds are the same as in the individual series box sets (including the interviews and celebrity voices features of the early series). Each episode of each series is indexed on the back of these cases so you know where to find what you're looking for. Since the episodes tend to have clever, catchy titles it's often very easy to remember which episode a particular moment happened in. In short, if you've got the money, it's more than worth buying. Even if you watched it non-stop, it would still take days to go through it all, and it's the kind of program you can watch repeatedly (I have and will continue to do so). There's no program out there (comedy or otherwise) that I'd rank above "Frasier".

The Frasier Complete Collection DVD set is a must-have for fans of the classic TV show. The set includes all eleven seasons of the beloved sitcom, as well as bonus features and behind-the-scenes content that will delight fans. One of the main strengths of this collection is the excellent picture and sound quality. The episodes have been remastered and restored, making them look and sound better than ever before. The picture is sharp and clear, while the sound is crisp and clean, making it easy to hear every word of the witty and fast-paced dialogue. In addition to the episodes themselves, the Frasier Complete Collection also includes a wealth of bonus features and behind-the-scenes content. Fans can enjoy interviews with the cast and crew, bloopers and outtakes, and commentary tracks that offer insight into the making of the show. One potential downside of this collection is its price, as it may be considered expensive for some viewers. Additionally, the show's humor may not appeal to everyone, as it is often highbrow and intellectual. Overall, the Frasier Complete Collection DVD set is an excellent choice for fans of the show who want to relive all the laughs and unforgettable moments from the series. With its excellent picture and sound quality, as well as the bonus features and behind-the-scenes content, it is a must-have for any fan of classic television comedy.

Fantastic, intelligent, hugely-missed comedy - The best bar none for me!
Watch two every night sequentially before bed. More hits than misses as an entire set of series, but this whole entity needs no excuses. If you like Frasier and appreciate the humour and clever writing, then you will love the whole thing. Eleven series, tightly-scripted, which makes the main characters almost feel part of the family by the time you have spent with them. When Frasier himself is on form, over-reacting, bickering with Niles or Marty, or battling with some of the great other actors (Bebe or Lilleth especially), it is a delight. This was Grammer's finest hour and he'll never equal it, but who cares, it is eleven seasons of bliss. Niles (Hyde-Pearce) is also worthy of mention, as it is often his reactions to his brother's opinions and antics that help embody a perfect comic chemistry. Some mid-season jitters, the Niles/Daphne saga, perhaps don't do many favours - but these are made up for by some real belters. Love some of the cameos - a few brits end up appearing, and the consistent contagonists (not sure if that's a word, but I like it!) popping up (the wonderful Roz, Bulldog & Gill especially) really help add interest. Despite occasional elements drawn from farce, Frasier somehow avoids cliche through such clever writing and spirited acting from the main characters. Near the end, Frasier is asked outright by one of his lady friends "Do you know what it is like to play the same character for over twenty years?" - you can appreciate the intended irony and the challenge that has been met. As a box set, the packaging compromises some of the disks, as others have pointed out. However, good cleaning has sorted most of the jumps for me. I have other box sets which remain watched once, but this set, well, I'll probably start all over again. So chuffed to have this box set!

A great deal of Jekyll, but some Hyde too.
In my opinion, Frasier was at its stellar best from seasons 1-7. Really, the worst you get in that timeframe is a B+ episode, and there aren't many of them. Unfortunately, the head writers - Christopher Lloyd and Joe Keenan - chose to leave after season 7. And they did so with a final flourish, finally putting Niles and Daphne together. These factors make it no coincidence that Frasier bombed during seasons 8, 9 and 10. It was only with Keenan and Lloyd's return in the final season that Frasier redeemed itself somewhat, though certainly not to its earlier highs. There is something wonderfully old school about Frasier. He works in radio, not television; they wear suits and tuxedoes; they drink spirits, not beers; scenes are played out at the radio station, luxurious apartments, operas, and theatres; wit is trumpeted over the cheap gag; and there's a marvellous feel for farce that makes each episode feel like a play. I actually have a friend who was recently introduced to Frasier, and she finds it to be a "comforting" show. There is a kind of warmth and refinement about the show that allows you to sink into it, rather than a noisier show like Friends. But do be prepared for seasons 8-10. Sadly, the show made the critical mistake of deviating from the formula that had served it so well. The coupling of Niles and Daphne had a major impact: Niles had fewer storylines with Frasier, the terrific running jokes about Niles' longing for Daphne had gone, Daphne's own storylines were reduced to fights with Niles, etc. On top of that, the show became more like a soap opera than a sophisticated comedy - there were really needless stories involving heart surgeries, Martin confronting his gunman, a truly terrible, pretentious episode involving Freudian dreams and imagery, and just way too many door-slamming moments. There's a place for that sort of thing, but it isn't what made Frasier great. Anyhow. You'll get at least 7-8 excellent seasons out of this boxset, and judging from other comments, you may be one of the many who enjoys the entire run. At just over £5.50 a season, this is a bargain, and one of the few DVD boxsets that you can comfortably watch over and over again on a lazy evening. 10* if possible for seasons 1-7, but knocking a star off for the dreadful seasons 8-10.

Eddie is King.
Absolutely amazing and worth any price. The previous bad reviews must've received bad copies of this, but this one, in the yellow case with lovely Eddie on the front is amazing. There is no censorship and the play all begins in series 4 but it's not that difficult in previous episodes. Talk about people and their first world problems. I love that Eddie is the only cast member on the cover and as an animal lover this was perfect for me. My only wish was that he had been shown more in the season finale but he wasn't at all. I've only watched a few episodes of Cheers before so I knew very little about Frasier but this show is practically perfect, perfect cast, perfect chemistry, perfect writing and perfect sets. I'm sad it's over but I will always cherish this boxset and these amazing characters.

Best American comedy sitcom - ever!
I missed the first few seasons of 'Frasier' because I thought it was yet another American sitcom but after seeing a few episodes I was hooked. Like 'Cheers' (270 episodes) before it, Frasier (263 episodes) ran for 11 series and both series are widely recognized as two of the finest comedy sitcoms in American television history which subsequently acquired a huge following around the World. It's nearest English competitor is probably 'Fawlty Towers' which ran for a mere 12 episodes. It was in Cheers (1982-1993) that the character of Dr. Frasier Crane first made an appearance. Frasier was played by Kelsey Grammer (DoB 21/2/55) who did not appear in Cheers until after the first couple of series had aired but who proved so popular that he went on to appear in 201 episodes. When Cheers ended in 1993 in was soon followed by Frasier (1993 - 2004) which proved another hit for Kelsey Grammer. It is rare for an actor to be associated with two consecutive, long running comedy sitcoms but Kelsey Grammer proved it could be done. He not only starred but directed many of the episodes himself. Kelsey Grammer's next comedy venture, 'Back to You' (2007-2008) proved to be a massive flop and was cancelled after just 17 episodes. There are 6 central characters in Frasier: Dr. Frasier Crane (psychiatrist and radio personality), Dr. Niles Crane (psychiatrist and younger brother), Daphne Moon (home help), Martin Crane (father and retired policeman), Roz Doyle (Frasier's radio show producer) and Eddie (the family dog). The comedy series follows the unlikely exploits of Dr Frasier Crane and the supporting characters which in the majority of cases ends in mishap or disaster for the Crane brothers who are pompous, pedantic, self-important and paranoid. Several of the Cheers characters have also made guest appearances in Frasier. Eddie was played by two dogs: Moose and Enzo. Two of the main actors: John Mahoney (Martin Crane) and Jane Leeves (Daphne Moon) are British born. Other well known British actors and actresses make guest appearances in the series. John Cleese is probably the best known of them and his manic acting style perfectly complements the American series. When I heard that a boxed set of the entire 11-year series of Frasier was available I decided I must have one. I waited (fortunately) and purchased a boxed set for less than GBP8.00 per series. That was a REAL bargain considering the total playing time for the entire series is around 94 hours. I often watch the endless repeats of Frasier of Freeview but now I know I will never miss a single episode.
