I did read reviews before buying so did as another reviewer advised and when wearing them with a skirt I wore tights underneath to help them stay up [it was a cold day, which helped! but you do have to pull them up occasionally] I am only 5'3" and they are about 3 inches above the knee, a bit tight around the top but they do give after a couple of wears so i know i'll have problems with them slipping down over time. I don't mind as they're not costly. It would be great if the companies who make these could make them longer to come higher up the thigh with a little more give at the top with the rubbery comfort grips like a sock version of hold up stockings. That would be perfect and I'm sure a lot of wearers would agree. As i'm pretty short (5"3) they do come over my knee but since i'm a dancer they sadly are too tight to wear full length but perfectly fine when worn folded below my knees. they are pretty soft and quite comfy to wear all day although not thicker than average socks.
